To me something that isn't done enough is changing/ adding little bits to the opening or closing of a show. It helps keep things up to date and makes something out of the obligation of opening credits and closing credits in a show. Taking you OP's pic as an example Part 4 and part 3 of Jojo has done openings pretty well in my opinion. To me what makes those ones special is that the alterations actually play with the opening. In part 3 with Dio using The World it was really entertaining and exciting to see Dio walk through the broken glass as the credits were pause. This also explains how Dio moved from one place to the other in the opening. Its icing on the cake to me.
For another anime Neon Genesis Evangelion although doesn't add anything to the opening, but as time goes on the flashing imagery that you may have only noticed on a subconscious level start to make sense as you see them in the actual episodes. When I first saw that show I thought that was awesome but maybe I just like flashy imagery.

Like a lot of ambitious shows, it bit off more than it could chew in its 3rd act and ended up with a very messy ending. The middle section also had some questionable bits while it wavered between sci-fi adventure, sky opera and coming-of-age monomyth. The romance drama bit was genuinely terrible.

Pretty obvious as fuck foreshadowing. Clever shit you'll definitely miss is like in the part of the 4th opening that's meant to represent time stopping you see Jotaro's finger twitch. Incredibly hard to catch and understand but cool as fuck nonetheless. Same thing with the clock moving back and forth and them on the staircase with the dead on the right and the living on the left.

Aside from the neat visuals and music, it does an excellent job of establishing the three protagonists characters purely through their body language. Just from that one shot between 0:58 and 1:02 where it's switching between Jin and Mugen, you can perfectly understand who they are and how their personalities conflict with each other.
It's also worth noting the brief shot of the rolling dice at 0:48 right after our three main characters draw their weapons, because that little detail says a lot about how the protagonists live; their lives are constantly in danger and their luck could run out at any moment. Then at 1:06 we we see a field of swords driven into the ground, followed by two dice rolling 1s, followed by Jin and Mugen rising up out of the field of swords; they survive where so many other samurai like them have died, and there's a twist on the dice imagery before where we realize that our protagonist's enemies are the ones who've run out of luck.

It's not a great opening because it looks cool and has good music (though it does), it's a great opening because it establishes the setting, tone, and characters in a way that's subtle but also extremely effective.

It depends but i like meat to my OPs (basically foreshadowing,good editing,good meaning) For example SAO has decent songs and good visuals but their OPs are unintresting as dirt.

'Good' music. The music needs to complement the show, depending on the series and tone you're going for it can be hyperactive and fun for a comedy/adventure, or it can play against type for a horror/suspense series. Lyrically, it should relate to the series in a general sense, but should outright spoil things. The visuals shouldn't spell out every plot twist or character trait.

It's that with enough people looking art these elements on original series you can piece some things together early because of the typical/cliche way the characters are interacting or looking.

A way to do it could be in reverse, the final OP spoils everything, but each episode builds upon or adds scenes during the OP that relate to previous episodes.
