I fully admit that my reaction to it is not how the author intended it to be taken. It's not like the author thought it would bother anyone. But it bothered me, personally. It's just not the kind of thing I want to see in a romance. I don't like characters putting their jobs/careers above each other. That's one reason that Nodame Cantabile had me so lukewarm at times: the characters are so career-driven.

Overall I still really liked Kodomo no Omocha, though.
