Muv-Luv is incredibly shitty. I'd say it's worse than Endless 8 if only for the fact that Endless 8 is just boring while Muv-Luv goes out of its way to be fucking terrible AND it has one of the worst protags ever conceived.

Higurashi starts out well but after chapter 6, everything goes to complete shit.

Madoka didn't really have the time loop as part of the forefront. It was an incredibly important part of the show, but it took a backseat compared to other elements.

Groundhog Day and Edge of Tomorrow were both great movies. I'm glad I'm old enough to have seen Groundhog Day when it was still new and went into it unspoiled. Same with Edge of Tomorrow, I went into it completely blind, expecting another so-so Tom Cruise sci-fi action movie and was very pleasantly surprised.

I found Tatami Galaxy to be extremely boring and repetitive. I couldn't force myself to finish the whole thing.

Steins;Gate was decent, but far from great. Read the VN first. Watched the anime when it aired and found the VN to be much better. Haven't touched Zero yet.

Re Zero is extremely overrated. The show oscillates between mediocre and average for most of its run. I will, however, say that episode 15 was a absolutely glorious. It certainly didn't make up for the rest of show, but it was a brilliantly done episode.

Tried reading Umineko but it gave off the same feeling that the ending of Higurashi gave off. Also felt like the action/events happened off-screen and you just stumbled through the aftermaths, which was super shitty.

I dunno man, it's probably just not your cup of tea, the general opinion about that movie is that the way the MC goes insane from being trapped in the same day is really well written, and the way he eventually copes with it and decides to do as much as he can is really well done too, plus it was kind of a curse/spell so he could find love, it's....good, the idea is good and the execution is better, it's a dark plot written as a comedy which in essence is what drama is about, so it's good. Again, if you didn't like it that's that, but you could try watching it again with a clear mind about it and you may end up liking it.

Probably tatami galaxy. E8 was really good but not that enjoyable, if that makes sense. It uses it's time looping really well but part of the message it wants to convey is that being stuck in a time loop 13000 times is fucking boring, and as a result E8 is fucking boring too.
Groundhog day is a classic and a pioneer of the time loop genre, but it's gimmick has been ripped off so much that I've kind of become jaded towards it.
The time looping part in S;G wasn't particularly good and Rebellion was shit. Haven't finished higurashi yet (reading the 3rd VN now). The girl who leapt through time is an incredibly overrated movie; I didn't like it at all.
Judged on the basis of how good of a *time loop* story they are, not just story in general.

I was hoping that, after everything he went through during Extra, Unlimited and Alternative, he wouldn't balk as much as he does at the end. Meiya is quite literally begging Takeru to end her suffering, prevent her from being mind raped by the BETA... thing and to complete the objective/save humanity. She begs him non-stop for a few minutes while crying out from the agony she's in. I wasn't hoping he'd turn into a stone cold, emotionless monster. But I was hoping he'd man up and act like someone who understands what duty and responsibility mean. I just re-watched the scene. Meiya quite literally has to yell at him to remember all the people who died to bring his dumb ass to where he is.

I just find it infuriating that character growth in a series on the magnitude of the Muv Luv trilogy was handled so poorly. Imagine if Cameron had never intended to stop Raistlin, if Ender hadn't decided to attack the giant/kiss the serpent, if Ms. Coulter hadn't decided to betray Metatron, if Frodo had simply thrown in the Ring.

Or anime ones: what if Homura had remained the clumsy/cheerful girl through every loop, if Vegeta hadn't become one of the good guys, if Tomoya had remained uncaring throughout S1 or hadn't decided to take care of his daughter after meeting his grandmother, if Riki and Rin hadn't become stronger, if Light hadn't gotten corrupted by power, if Roku hadn't become more hardened, etc, etc.

Maybe, in my mind, when shit happens and you live/suffer through it, a person is supposed to come out changed after it's all said and done. Takeru didn't change and that bothers me because it completely breaks the suspension of disbelief.
