They are better in different areas. Negi is overall more serious and smarter, and his development and struggles induced by characters like Chao, Eva, Yue, Asuna, Nagi, Rakan, and Fate reflects that.

Touta is better for romantic development. He speaks his mind and is direct, although still suffers from some dense MC nature in regards to feelings directed at him.

It's clear that Negi wins the Evabowl. They'll probably end up having one of Touta's generation comforting him and slowly having romantic character development while he pines for Eva until the end of the series.

The whole "Touta loves Eva" felt WRONG. She's been his mother figure, for fuck's sake. It was like reading Usagi Drop once again for me. Ken really fucked up with that sick idea. Touta is surrounded by many girls, and yet Ken goes to ship him with the only one he shouldn't have. Not to mention that jealousy for Fate, of all people. It was seriously badly written. I hope he'll find a way to fix that shit, because it was and still is pretty dumb and fucked-up. Just like the whole ending of Negima ever since the final battle (included) of MM saga.

Nah, the Dana training arc was the peak of UQH and rivaled the best of Negima - and a large part of it was Touta realising he was in love with Kitty/Eva.

The only reason UQH has gone to shit is because the harem antics took over for far too long and then rescuing Negi was rushed in when it should have been a longterm goal of the manga. We should have had a few breather chapters in the Inn followed by a quick tournie arc, the gang reaching Mars, and then the Negi plotline could transition in - this time with natural buildup, a proper search, and a less clusterfuck fight that gave time for the old cast to take part without exposition dumps or the complete exclusion of new characters besides Touta.

But as it is Ken has just fucking butchered the tone and plot to fix up the Negima shit as quickly as possible. I dunno about anyone else but I'm dropping it after this chapter.

Touta was her oldest and first friend throughout all of time, who she then ended up raising due to coincidence. She did like him in the past but its unclear just how much she remembers.

Her feelings regarding the subject are quite complicated if anything, but they had a hell of a lot more chemistry than any other relationship in both manga after one arc.

If anything Eva liking Negi is the most forced thing ever.

Do people really care about Touta getting Yukihime?
I mean, other than the fact that whatever there is between them was pretty much forced through time travel retcon, Yukihime is so different from Negima's Eva that she could easily be considered an entirely different character.

The things that made Eva amazing, and easily one of the most liked girls in Negima, was the strength of her character, her presence and her charisma. The fact that she was a super confident, over-powered, evil-ish vampire loli also added points to her greatness.

Yukihime is just... boring, even when she goes back to he original form, she has none, I mean mean NONE of the charm Eva had in Negima.

We could get a storyline saying Yukihime wasn't actually Eva this whole time, and to be honest, I would buy it. That's how different she is.

We knew Eva had changed over the years in Negima as well, but what little was shown about her past days didn't feel completely disconnected from the current Eva.

In Negima, Eva got to experience several things that she couldn't throughout most of her life, and she grew a lot as a person.

By UQH, what you get isn't just any change in her character, but her being reduced to a husk of the character she used to be.

The changes that got introduced for her in this story completely shat on her character, by pretty much removing all the aspects that made her likeable.

That rushed ending made it out to be like Negi saved his father, 'beating'/sealing LM and asuna got to play with jumping time lines to make that SPECIFIC timeline very happy.
