A pretty fair ranking. Zexal I had a lot more charm and originality inherent to its more lighthearted tone than the style of shounen they went for with Zexal II. It felt genuinely like its own show. It was still a shit show, but at times the style of comedy really worked well for it.

Some of the VAs do seem to enjoy voicing their characters, like Yuto and Yugo's VAs. It's probably because it's their first major role. They also looked like they were having fun dueling Jack's VA during that event a few months ago.

And Kensho Ono is generally just a cheerful person. He expressed interest in an eventual Yuri vs Yuya duel not that long ago, which shows he is actually interested in the series. Then you have all those animators with Arc-V profile pics.

I know about that animator who took to Twitter to complain about how she didn't have enough material to work, but even then, I do think you guys are projecting your pessimism on the production team.

That Yuri vs Yuya interview was from 2015 iirc. Having a profile pic just means you are showing where you work. The animator that complained about the show has an Arc-V profile pic too. Nothing in the show screams "We enjoy this!" anymore. The last thing like that was Yuya twirling upside down against Edo. Everything else has no personality and the show is really generic now. But can you say with certainty that this guy doesn't enjoy working on YGO, and by extent, working on Arc-V? Nope, you can't. And that's where your argument starts crumbling under the weight of your generalization.

Going back to maiko_2222's tweet, yes, it might be a sign that the production is in a hectic state. But it also might not. In her tweet, she's complaining about how she didn't get a setting to help with her work. But key animators are only assigned to one episode once in a while. Nothing in the tweet implies that the problem is recurrent or a common occurrence. But once again, I'm not writing out that possibility. Fundamentally speaking, I'm not even writing out the possibility that you're right. My real point is that we don't actually know much about how things are going in the production. We're both looking at them from too small a window to be able to accurately describe how things are going there. That's why I'm saying you're projecting. But from an unbiased outlook, there's absolutely no way to know which one of us is right.

It's normal for things that are fucked up behind the scenes. Gundam Seed Destiny is still to this day the most infamous for all the behind the scenes drama which included an episode script being delivered so late that they had to make a clip show to air instead. Stock footage so overused that an animator complained that they had to reuse the same scenes over and over and wanted to try something new.

Cross Ange which had the same producer infamously aired an incomplete version of the second opening which was just reused clips of the first iirc and pissed off the Japanese fanbase causing Fukuda to rant about it on Twitter.

No other Yugioh series has had that problem. It's just that this specific director is known for being shit. I don't know how he keeps getting work.
