All of the irl ballerinas I know were forced into it as a child usually age 2-4. Past 5 is pushing it if you want to git gud on a professional level. When you think about its absolutely bonkers because there is no way a 4 year old toddler thinks hmm I want to learn really advanced ballet/ice skating techniques as soon as possible and dedicate my whole (young) life to it.

I kind of wish I had been pushed into something at a young age so I would have the skill now as an adult but then again I don't think forcing it is cool and I probably wouldn't force my child to. Not saying every professional was forced into the sport but some of my irl friends have identity issues related to their upbringing and involvement with ballet. As long as it's not something super physical like skating it's literally never too late. Even considering, you can never reach a professional level yeah but you can get to a reasonably high skill level with dedication. Someone will always be better than you and started skating as soon as they crawled out of their mother but if you enjoy it why not?

Also I'm pretty sure Johnny Weir started really late for a skater, late elementary school so like 11/12. Which is definitely old enough to make the decision on your own. He's not Yuzu-tier but he's great and did make his own history.
