They haven't even kissed once in the anime at all until a lot of chapters later. I used to read it but dropped it because the pacing was slow as fuck that I couldn't keep up with it anymore. Chizuru is still best girl though.

The animation is objectively terrible and filled with QUALITY. It also butchered Hotta Kiichi's artstyle.
Voice casting was shit for some characters and not particularly amazing. I don't even remember the music.
They're not improvements since the anime doesn't end up being better than the manga after having them included. Not only did it not make any improvements, it also made everything else worse with the shit pacing and awful directing choices.

But s2 WAS worse than the first season. The pacing felt off, like it was skipping over stuff and then dragging out at bad spots. Can likely chalk it up to only having half as many episodes to work with so they had to plot a course that could give it a satisfactory "conclusion" even though the manga DIDN'T END. Season 3 will happen someday, right?

The pacing in season 2 was the same as season 1. If anything, more got done in season 2 in terms of actual connection between the characters. You're right that we need a season 3 though. There's no excuse for not getting it. The show did well and the manga was one of the best selling.

I thought the connection building was better in the first. Side characters were just as important, Chizuru and Blazing Bat got their own episodes and even Pim (it was a recap if I remember that right though).

Meanwhile s2 had "oh yeah we went to big bro's wedding but we're not going to say anything else about that" since it was focused much more on Sawako actually realizing those feelings of REFRESHMENT were lewd. Lewd!
