I made a program that periodically checks feeds for new episodes from nyaa. It then downloads the torrent files. My client, rtorrent, downloads the actual files. I stream to my desktop using SSHFS and stream to my phone using sftp in VLC.

I unironically stream the first episode to see if an anime is even worth downloading

I stream anything I don't care about, new shows to see if I'm interested in it, shows that are only mildly entertaining, time wasters and the like. I download only:

fansubs of shows you can't get anywere else (like Precure, and PriPara)
Shows that I want to watch in high quality
Series that are worthwhile to keep long term
BDs with nudity

I always stream as I rarely finish shows. I only watch the ones which really get me hooked.

Thats why I dont download them, its a hashle and I cant tell the difference without glasses anyways
