As for a topic - the AKB producer just follows Yamakan`s footsteps - he was the one who came up and executed successfully concept of new casted Voice Actors acting as idols and having anime about them (Sphere doesnt count, since they were idol band before anime).

So he litterally saved not just anime, but Idol Industry too

Still waiting for a T7S anime.

To clarify things:

This is a project by AKB48 producer, to cast new girls to become voice actors and make idol band out of them as well - similar to Wake Up Girls!. So anime is given, studio is open yet though.

Also of note is that Horiguchi is NOT an official designer for it, instead 8 (number of girls in band too) prominent character designers are hired and make art for it in different styles - so its unknown how anime will look like, Horiguchi is just one of 8.

Do they have voices yet? Is this even getting an anime any time soon? Won't they release singles and shit for a good while before that?
Will it have any defining gimmicks e.g. school idols, local idols, space guerrilla idols, etc? Or will they just play it straight?
It's hard to be optimistic or pessimistic knowing so little. Bottom left and middle left are top cuties though so that's a good start, hope at least they get good voices.

The VAs are amateurs casted in Tokyo, 12 were selected, so far 8 girls out of 10k+ casted confirmed. Just like WUG basically. So far the site doesnt have any art or info aside from character background.
