Pretty sure the guy who made it knows it was generic in the same manner than Miyazaki is aware of the shit that is put out these days.

You what mate? I can see Miyazaki (which is just the standard "animated, japanese and good" reference to basically everything) thanks to that chopped up shitty glorification of the worst things of his style that is Children who chase Lost Voices; but Makoto Shinkai is, in absolutely everything, opposite of what Yasujiro Ozu made, in style, shot composition, cinematography, style of text or even the fucking basic themes. How the fuck do you fuck up a comparison this badly? Even Akira Kurosawa is better if you're that much of a pleb, how the fuck do you get paid for this kind of shit? How does Ozu's taste for the emotional repressions within the relationships within nuclear structures done with an endlessly ambiguous point of view even touch with Shinkai's schlocky, profusely effectist use of plot devices to overexpose emotion, or how he even overdoes it even more with his blinding colour pallette? Jesus christ!

Mitsuo Iso the greatest animator of all time animates at 8fps.
It's not about how fluid the animation is, it will seem fluid if you get the timing and spacing right.
