When did this become a thing (watching Ace wo Nerae)? I just got into this a week or two ago because someone here mentioned Ashita no Joe and when I went looking for that I found this beauty.

Are we really one mind or what? This is kind of creeping me out.

Dezaki is probably why. Lots of the retro anime people actually talk about are directed by him. They tend to be great in addition to being really influential, so people usually end up watching them. Ace wo Nerae included.

Also, /a/ loves Gainax and Trigger, so Ace wo Nerae is bound to get watched by at least a few people despite there not being that many shoujo fans.

Anyway - great show, right? The final few episodes in S1 are fantastic.

The characters grow gradually and you can really see the change in the series.

Lots of key moments are skipped over or rushed in the films, i've seen both and it's really watered down.

The TV show is far better, the only thing the films do better is slightly better animation for a few key scenes.

Been watching Ashita no Joe this week. Not too bad, considering I'm not fond of Dezaki.
Downloading Hakujaden to watch tonight, I think it looks great.

I finished Ace wo Nerae two days ago, and it really was good. Now there's waiting a decade or two for the next seasons to be subbed.

Yesterday, I saw Jewel BEM Hunter Lime, and it was pretty good. I laughed at many points, and the animation was glorious. Will listen to the opening more too, in the future.


A bit recent perhaps, but I saw the first three episodes of .Hack // Sign today, and I must say, that music is amazing. Not only the opening, which I've loved for a long time, but the background music too. Almost constantly playing an amazing soundtrack, often with vocals too. If it keeps this up, I will probably like it even if the story turns out to be a trainwreck.
