I see sometimes that players deliberately go into a long game (not sure about whether or not that's the term for a rally played far from the table) when I'm watching tournaments.

It seems like Sasorida's best asset was her speed and footwork, which is why she favored that. If you're playing a long game, you need to make accurate shots to make them run from corner to corner.

Also chances are you'll be running back and forth as much as they are.

It was more how she alternated between far lobs and close shots to make Hanabi have to run forward and back. Funny enough, I just finished the Ping Pong the Animation game where the baldy tired Peco out by lobbing the ball.

It's definitely a fun sport to get into. That and badminton are the only ones I'm not bad at. Starting out, drills are way more important than practice matches. Try to get a feel of how imparting spins on the ball changes how it moves. You'll have lots of fun in no time.
