Megumi and Takumi are listening to Dojima talking about the past

After Saiba got the name "Asura," nobody challenged him nor did anybody accept his challenge for a Shokugeki. The rumours about Saiba didn't just spread to the Highschool Students, but also to the Middle School Students. Everybody has heard of what Saiba has done.

Saiba starts to get impatinet that nobody is willing to do a Shokugeki with him, so he challenges the former Elite Ten that have graduated already and even the instructors at Totsuki. But they also decline to do a Shokugeki with Saiba. The name Joichiro, became a well known Name not just at Totsuki, but also in the whole Gourmet World

Saiba: Maan... Nobody wants to fight with me....You listening, Gin?

As other students walk past Saiba and Dojima, they avoid making eye contact with Saiba.

But the easy going Saiba goes to them and says: "Let's do a Shokugeki!"

Dojima: Hey stop it Jouichiro!!!

Senzaemon: Ho...You are that brat who is causing trouble lately huh

Saiba: What are you talking about Old Man. It's because people don't let me do anything! Why don't you help me out? You are the Director, right?

Dojima: Jo...ichiro...!!!

Azami: Senpai...!!!!

Senzaemon smiles

Hmm, I know I should be enjoying this, but atm the feeling that the flashback arc elicits in me would be "get on with it already". The interpersonal content isn't all that interesting and we've already caught on since last chapter that he couldn't stand the mindless expectations of others to always one up himself (next, Next, NEXT...) without any appreciation for the work he put into the current dish. Now we still have to go through the fallout, Azami turning from oddball into asshole and maybe a glimpse of Souma's dad meeting the girl who will heal him.

It's kinda predictable atm and doesn't make me look forward to things. I'd like to get back to quirky battles at medium stakes, without petty underhanded shit souring the going ons or constant ultimate destiny fights with the school's future on the line, let alone the prospect of turning the cullinary world into some overblown totalitarian nightmare. Just Souma and friends going through wacky curriculum contests, doing competitions against interesting opponents, learning how to be great chefs with some romcom thrown in for good measure. High stakes are ok, but the whole Azami thing is ridiculous.

I feel like its because he feels underappreciated, people are giving all the credit of his cooking to his "genius" like it was some gift he was born with that just comes naturally. The truth is he works constantly, always working on new shit, always having shokugekis with others, yet what everyone sees is just "omg genius".

That has taken away hit motivations to cook, and we see him staring onto a blank plate, which describes his current state of mind, an apathetic blank state, no drive to create anything new, no motivation.

Fumio said he's out for revenge and self-satisfaction, and Azami himself said the world ruined Jou. He was clearly too awestruck by his skills to notice there was something wrong with Jou during his Asura phase and I'm willing to bet his plan and motivation stems from how the world began to view Jou after he ditch his competition in this chapter.
