>confesses her love for Reina
>confesses her love for Mamiko
>confesses her love for Asuka
Kumiko sure gets around
Guys what happened to Sapphire's power limiters
A person who loves a lot is often one of the most lovable people in the world.
You cant help but love Kumiko. She is the embodiment of love.
This was supposed to be a story of pure yuri love between Kumiko and Reina. But Reina is lusting avfter cock and Kumiku is a whore that wants everyone.
Should have dropped it after first season.
Ribbons' hair is very swirly
It reminds me of dess girl from ping pong lesbians
She is the fucking strong and can't be contained in this new term. What is her end game?
I'm just now starting to register how badly Reina's character was destroyed. What could Takeda even do with her if she writes more? I can only imagine her becoming a sort of one-note yandere comic relief character, with roughly the same level of relevance as Midori
Oh shit, this was the piece they played in the original PV for S1, right?
This is cute
>will never have a ribbons to hug
>Kumiko will never ever confess her love for you
>Kumiku is a whore that wants everyone.
But the only person other than Reina that Kumiko has shown interest in was Asuka. Shuu stayed in the friendzone from beginning to end and you can't possibly count the fact that she told her sister that she loves her.
>Ribbons got Kaori's ribbon
Yellow ribbon old and busted. Green ribbon is the new hotness.
Usurping Ribbons in a military coup and installing herself as Exalted Emperor For Life of the band
Then ruthlessly crushing all opposition with an iron yet cute fist
They will climb their way to gold on a pile of the broken bodies of all who dared oppose her rule
Seeing this was almost painful. I'm really, really going to miss this show.
Man, Kumiko is a bigger crybaby than ex-buchou.
The way Kaori matched fingerings during Reina's solo was a nice touch.
>No S3 where the band is desperate for members so that they can impress the old guard and go to the Nationals again
>mfw that night she holds Kaori's ribbon to her face sniffing it while furiously driving 3 fingers in and out of her snatch
She must be relieved to graduate
>don't have to put up with shitty autistic "special" girl that wants teacher cock
>underclass that wants to yuri your ass
Where is my doujin where she fucks Taki because she looks like the dead wife and does it just to get back at Reina.
When is the full ending song going to be release?
I miss them already bros
When Kumiko got the letter from her sister, she started thinking about her sister and Asuka.
It's clear that at this point she thinks of Asuka like an older sister. This is probably why they included the scene with Kumiko telling Asuka that she loves her. She didn't want to have any regrets about not saying this to her, just like with her sister.
I think it's a beautiful example of friendship. It's too bad that yurifags can't appreciate this and instead have to sexualize everything. They are really missing out on the beauty of platonic friendship.
>They are really missing out on the beauty of platonic friendship.
No, we totally got our fair share of platonic friendship when Shuuichi had his moment of screentime this episode.
>that one flautist that got wrecked by Taki in S1
I love winter clothing. Makes me wanna hug Asuka and cuddle under a warm blanket.
Is this the real ADOLESCENCE ending? I feel like kyoani is trying to reinforce again that the show was never about romance but rather nebulous young people feelings in a big pot with no particular direction to them and the journey itself.
>all the shots of Kaori and briefly Ribbons watching while Reina played the solo
The fuck was this about? Kaori and Reina's relationship had gone nowhere noteworthy. That scene played out like a whole other drama had happened between them.
I mean, just run through it:
Before the solo drama, what cursory glimpses we were given of interactions between Reina and Kaori showed them being polite to each other as one would expect in a senpai/kouhai relationship.
Kaori wanted the solo. She didn't display any hostility towards Reina in particular, hers was a more internal struggle, and deep down she knew Reina deserved the solo.
Ribbons caused all the drama by being a nasty little shit stirrer. As it went on, she quickly realised Reina clearly had the upper hand and begged her out of desperation.
Reina was steadfast in her belief that she deserved the solo. She wavered a little at the last minute because as stubborn as she is she doesn't want to be a villain.
At the audition Reina was once again clearly superior. Kaori conceded that she doesn't deserve the solo
After the drama, we barely see Reina interact with them.
There's like a single brief scene where Reina apologises for being smug, and Kaori apologises too before they get interrupted by Natsuki antagonising Ribbons.
When they perform, Kaori looks a little downcast and humble when Reina plays the solo, both times. The focus is not solely on her throughout the solo, though.
Much later on in the show Ribbons exhibits an almost begrudging concern when Reina is distracted, and states that Kaori was concerned too, OFF-SCREEN.
They're thankful when Reina is the sole student to shout to Taki, saving their skin, and console her when she embarrasses herself later, neither of which I see as holding much meaning, it's more of an obligatory response.
Wow, totally worth looking at Kaori's face virtually the whole final time we get to hear Reina play. The drama was a whole season ago.
Asuka was still doing her big sis relationship advice schtick and Kumiko was too overwhelmed to argue with her word choices there so she just said "yes". This is the first time that Kumiko ever played along with Asuka tho, which was kinda cute, and that shocked Asuka.
>Finally, the Fluffer played along with me!
It was about yuri romance when Kumiko fell in love with Reina. But yes, she got friendzoned, and her relationship with Asuka isn't romantic. She's clearly still a lesbian though.
Grumpy-chan is the boss of the French Horns now
>people actually thought there would be romance in the show
How would they sell Blurays then?
I'm not going to miss these threads. Shipping faggots ruin everything.
I can't believe you guys are still going at this.
>Shipping faggots ruin everything. I can't believe you guys are still going at this
well said m8
Then what about the clear parallels between Asuka and Kumiko's sister? She read her sister's letter and it showed Kumiko thinking about Asuka.
This confession clearly parallels the confession of love Kumiko gave to her sister in the previous episode. And that one is obviously not romantic. And neither is this one.
Your linguistic autism is contradicting the clear themes in the show of platonic love.
That jazzy number they played was pretty nice
Right, but she didn't get the solo two performances prior to that either. It was decided long ago that she wouldn't have the solo. She wanted the solo, she conceded she didn't deserve it. Reina performed it. And then she performed it again. And then she performed it again. And then she performed it again.
Kaori's desire for the solo barely came up again after the shitstorm had settled down and now in this last episode the camera focuses a lot on Kaori while Reina plays like the bruises are still fucking fresh. It's not like the drama had left much of a lingering aftertaste in the show. Once the solo drama was over, I only recall Kaori having one significant scene, when she went to visit Buchou at her home, which was unrelated to her fracas with Reina.
Why do you pretend like Shuu shippers weren't always by far the worst, constantly citing the novels and being 100% certain they know exactly how this show will end? Everyone told them "you know, Kyoani might not actually do this but instead go with an anime original ending" and they just wouldn't listen.
Why is Nozomi conducting anyway
The drama did leave an impact. There was always tension between Yuuko and Reina, and it makes sense that Kaori is still sensitive about losing her last chance. This is the kind of attention to detail that makes Hibike great. There isn't a reset button after dramatic arcs where all the character relationships go back to normal.
To remind you she exists despite her character being involved in literally no plots beyond her own arc. Once their plot was resolved, every scene with them felt shoehorned in and inconsequential.
If yurifags trigger you this much, maybe next time you shouldn't watch such a blatant yuribait show you fucking mongoloid.
I mean obviously a show that is pandering this hard towards yurifags will attract yurifags.
Because she was late to join the band so it makes sense that she doesn't get to play.
At least the people that didn't pass the audition finally had the chance to actually play the song the band had been practicing for-fucking-ever.
The novels were complete dogshit. KyoAni had to rewrite the entire thing just to make it acceptable. Ayano takeda was just lucky to be the only author at the time with a music oriented story set in Kyoto.
The novels are not canon.
What are you talking about? They were right till the very end. Shuuichi never had the slightest bit of romantic development and the show ended on prime yuribait. The delusional one is you.
Not sure what you're complaining about. Kaori was just reminiscing about the past because it was graduation party. The finger tapping was supposed to represent that she was glad that she redid the audition and has no more regret.
Of course they're heterosecual, it's a bait show. It's set in japan after all, not ina progressive country.
If the show is actual yuri/yaoi and hets demand a straight pairing, then yeah it's okay to call the retarded.
Its more likely that the cunts managing Kyoani are old ladies that re allergic to any type of romance so they completely remove anything that looks romantic or sexual and just homobait to get money.
Thank god this shit is finally over. I'm ready for Dragon Maid .
That's part of it. But that doesn't imply that Kumiko is therefore a lesbian and has romantic / sexual interest in Asuka. There is no evidence for this.
Asuka does ask if Kumiko wants relationship advice, using the Japanese word koi. Kumiko clearly grimaces at the use of this word but rolls with it anyway.
It's fair describe their relationship as one of love. But this doesn't necessarily suggest anything else. And there's no other evidence in the show to suggest that sex or romance has anything to do with it.
If you're just going to sit there and keep saying "denial" then go ahead, but it's clear that you're wrong.
>Asuka does ask if Kumiko wants relationship advice, using the Japanese word koi.
Kumiko clearly grimaces at the use of this word but rolls with it anyway.
>There isn't a reset button after dramatic arcs where all the character relationships go back to normal.
Except for Nozomi and Mizore.
As I said, Kaori had no real beef with Reina, she just wanted her last chance, before conceding it was better going to Reina. Kaori and Reina were polite to each other before, during and after the drama, except for that one moment Reina exploded which was pretty justifiable. Sure it makes sense Kaori is still somewhat sensitive about it, but it never came up again in regards to her feelings about it, the show needs to remind us of something like that otherwise we get the impression she's moved on. These things need to be proportionate, it's a similar problem to why people are flinging shit about Shoe and Reina and the ends they got compared to the amount of exposure they've had in the show.
Yuuko was a little shit, her development with Reina has been pretty tiny, as shown in her awkwardly expressing concern for Reina right near the end, but we haven't even really seen her apologise. When it was revealed she'd accepted that Reina deserved it, she was talking to Kumiko.
If Kaori had been more engaged in a Reina-related plot beyond the solo drama, and their relationship had noticeably strengthened, I would feel it was more justified. As it is, it felt weirdly off balance to me.
>Kumiko clearly grimaces at the use of this word but rolls with it anyway.
Stop making shit up. Besides, there's no reason she couldn't have just said "uh, not really" like she did so many times before. You're grasping at straws.
>If you're just going to sit there and keep saying "denial" then go ahead, but it's clear that you're wrong.
That's simply the tyranny of the majority, saying that something isn't "normal" and therefore "abnormal" if it's not practised by most people. By your argument, speaking English is abnormal and by extension should be banned and those who speak it should be strung up from lampposts.
It sucks for Reina as a character but it's interesting writing. She felt magical and mysterious in S1 when Kumiko fell in love with her, but then she became kind of lame and mundane as Kumiko moved on in S2.
So in the end you fucking retarded faggots, Novelanon was right or he was bullshiting all the fucking time?
He did it on Phantom World thread so I expect the same shit with Hibike.
They became friends but not super magical best friends, and things became normal. They could have added a sub-plot exploring this change but I don't think it would have added much.
Is out there any of his spoilers?
According to what Kumiko was saying, the evolution of her feelings towards Asuka was basically:
Her behavior is off-putting and rubs me the wrong way. -> What's her problem? She's really cold-hearted on the inside... -> The way she plays the euphonium in an unguarded moment moves my heart. Furthermore, I now understand that the way she acts is the product of her particular circumstances rather than just arrogance or condescension.
Is this correct?
Because, she's kinda the most talented one in the band right now when it comes to music in general. Just like with Asuka during the school festival.
Mizore's a robot and Reina's still a freshman.
>that's what happens when you ge to know people more. they get normalized.
This is true, but I don't know if you can really attribute it to that being the effect they were purposefully trying to create. Or at least, if that was intentional, in my opinion they failed at effectively conveying it.
It seems to me Kyoani ramped up the impact of the Reina scenes in season 1, and then they were stuck when they had to put together season 2 with its many plots that literally didn't involve her. It was less about Reina being normalised than the author and then Kyoani deciding to give her nothing to do but pine for Taki. All the talk of being special which was a big part of her character got practically thrown out the window. We didn't see her practicing hard. We didn't see her doing weird off-centre things in an effort to be more interesting than all the normal chumps. These aspects of her character weren't to do with how Kumiko viewed her, they were actions Reina took on herself. She was proactive in season 1. In season 2 she suddenly and without explanation became a passive character who was just always there in the background thirsting for Taki's cock while Kumiko's attention was taken up by new dramas.
a) Poor lad
b)Chad and Stacy still happier than you will ever be
I need webm and gifs of the clapping and of Red Ribbon chan
>ywn hold this hand
FUCK YOU HETFAGS! FUCK YOU /A/!
SHUU1FAGS BLOWN THE FUCK OUT!!
KUMIKO IS A LESBIAN AND ONLY LIKES GIRLS!
>Wow, Kumiko. It really was a "Sound! Euphonium."
Fucking really, KyoAni?
Reina is a side character. She's merely a plot device to (almost accidentally) awaken Kumiko's latent lesbian tendencies, and the whole Taki-sensei thing is simply to emphasize again and again that Reina is as straight as it comes. This is then supposed to prepare us for the fact that the final pairing will absolutely not be ReiMiko.
KyoAni had to present her as this super special genius trumpet girl for Kumiko to learn about being passionate for music. But she was clearly more than that, she had problems dealing with people and she had a long standing crush on Taki.
S2 shows us why she's like that. She's privileged and talented and has been lonely since she was a kid, but instead of finding friends she instead latched onto a "special" person who happened to be Taki.
After S1 she's toned down her tokobetsu act and she's on good terms with the trumpets and the other girls. Even though she hasn't moved on from Taki, I think the friendships she has and will develop among the band will make her striving to be "special" more meaningful and will no doubt help her redirect her passions. She's a senior member now and no doubt on her way to being section leader and principal player.
Shuu can't lead the trombones
Takigawa can't lead the saxes
fang can't lead the clarinets
Red ribbons can't lead the percussions
Midori is retarded
Reina is retarded
their senior year is fucked
I took this pic to talk again about the lack of percussion section ova, but it made me realize how much I actually want an anime about background characters.
For example here we get almost everything we need to know about Knuckle from a single line, the Chad&Stacy scene tells us that they are well past the initial love phase, and so on.
Kyoani please make it happen, give me the background qties anime I need
This was fun, /a/. I'll miss you.
Have a good life and FIGHTO
>Reina is a side character. She's merely a plot device
You can say that if you like, but I will always have a difficult time accepting it.
Reina took up Kumiko's attention for a significant chunk of season 1. If you read that interview with the author about the books, it's revealed that in the first drafts for the first book, Kumiko didn't even exist, Reina was the MC and it was from her POV - but then she switched it up because Reina's drama with the band and her sheer superiority over them musically worked better as seen from the perspective of an observer - thus Kumiko was created and became the MC.
And then Kyoani got involved and she was asked to write more books which became season 2.
Now I'm not saying that a first draft of a story can't develop into something totally different by the time it's published. Kumiko IS the MC and her attention being taken up by other dramas isn't exactly an outlandish notion. But Reina's dominance over season one firmly embeds her into the story as an integral part of it, or at least that's what you would expect. I mean I don't think anyone would argue against the possibility of Reina being more of an active player in the ongoing plots of season 2 so that she wasn't just gawping at Taki all day, which is an annoying thing to see her constantly coming back to. If they'd given her something more to do, season 2 wouldn't have been nearly as weird and frustrating. Likewise for Shuuichi and his almost total absence from the season.
So the show should just be a fixed "camera" with random conversations filtering in and out on the morning and evening train?
Sounds experimental and hard to get funded. But each VA would only need to have one conversation and then they'd never be seen again.
The only recurring characters are the train staff members who sweep the train cars in silence before shift.
>Kaori and Reina's relationship had gone nowhere noteworthy.
You could say the same about 96% of the relationships in the anime. This season basically sunk all the secondary cast into irrelevance.
If you have graduated high school/university, then you should know firsthand that you gradually end up drifting away from even those you consider bosom friends simply due to the passage of time and your life circumstances no longer matching up.
This is why they everyone was tearing up--not because they would never be able to talk to their seniors again but because it marks the beginning of the end of their association with each other.
No. Nothing happened. Midori and Hazuki pester Kumiko about the hairpin, Kumiko chases after Shoe to ask him if he was spreading rumors about it. Then pic related. Then he walks off.
At this point, I'm pretty sure Shoe has already gotten over Kumiko anyway.
It was a fun ride guys. This year was a fun year.
Asuka and Aoi, were there too. Asuka teased them, Shuu disappears, then Aoi reveals Shuu's been hungry for Kumiko since they were little
Kumiko was slightly annoyed when Shuu strongly denies spreading the rumor.

Can we all agree that buchou's badass solo was the best part of the season?
webm related is the TOP QT of the entire ensemble.
>hibike is over
time to kill myself etc.. etc..
I guess to show how flustered Kumiko was at that moment and that she wasn't thinking straight
How do you feel knowing that the only ones who know what happens to the club and all of its members are the author Ayano Takeda and the characters themselves?
How does it feel knowing that you got to see a little slice of their lives and that's all you will get? That they are moving on away from your eyes and you'll have to find a new set of lives to follow?
She's Asuka, she'll find a way. Somebody has to teach Kumiko math anyway, and it sure as hell won't be Reina because that girl gets Kazusa-tier grades I bet.
Last episode didn't have any sakuga or standout scenes, same with episode 12. I wonder if they rushed production just so they could focus on Maid Dragon?
The fact that they're doing these types of backgrounds already gives me hopes in a Maid Dragon adaptation with Nichijou quality, perhaps not as good.
For most studios yeah but KyoAni also makes their own backgrounds, though they usually get help from Studio Blue which is supposedly theirs as well but I don't really know for sure, and also Workshop Basara.
From the little I understand there, that background was made by Mikiko Watanabe, an art director at KyoAni.
AND WITH THIS ENDING
My life is now free of anime. Now I get to be an adult.
>Ribbon is now a dictator
is the club fucked?
Hands off friendo, she's mine
I kinda feel it, but that's only because I binged the last 10 episodes after being too busy to watch.
Flip Flappers is still AOTY tho.
She was appointed, no one objected. She was elected fair and square.
Yuuko is going to be one of the greatest Buchous the club will ever have.
Always fluff but Jesus Christ
dat classy Reina
Can someone tell me why /ourguy/ was completely shafted this season
I'm telling you man, Shoe probably doesn't give a fuck about Kumiko anymore. Pretty evident since he doesn't even try to approach her anymore as seen all season.
He's probably pining for Mamiko or Twintails-senpai now.
I guess Asuka/Kumiko was the genuine Sound! Euphonium all along.
So do all the senpaitachi just get bad end? Aoi didn't get shit. Not even an appearance at the end. Does she forever stay unhappy with regrets? Kaori doesn't get to solo and doesn't get gold.
To everyone that still doesn't get it, let me explain the romance in Toradora terms.
I would find it strange if the author wanted them to hit it off at the end of their first year. They're gonna build their trust and relationship together and with the hand for the next 2 years so that will definitely be better
He's given up on romancing her because he's seen her making googly eyes at her preferred females all the damn time. He finally pieced it together.
They hardly got any good shots this season. Sad times.
the goosebumps are real
Shoe told Kumiko that the info on Italian Whites came from Midori. That's all she told her.
Kumiko probably never considered that her friends were in cahoots with Shuu to buy her a present.
I find it difficult to tell how Reina feels about it. They were very careful to make the whole Kumiko-Reina-Shuuichi dynamic open to multiple interpretations. Reina is either relieved that Kumiko doesn't like him, or amused that Kumiko doesn't realize that she likes him.
She wasn't against it, when Shuuichi was there she kept sort of challenging him. In other moments where Reina wasn't sure what Kumiko was getting up to, she assumed she had been hanging out with him. She sees what's going on between them and is accepting of it, but wishes Shuuichi wasn't such a wimp about it.
Could they have possibly given Kumiko a cuter
Of course. They're still pretty gay for each other, and Reina just needs a small push to move from Taki to Kumiko. It still won't happen in the anime if Kyoani decides to continue, but I'll enjoy the canon-compliant fanfics for now.
That's not clear though. They tried really hard to make Kumiko-Reina-Shuuichi ambiguous, in contrast to the totally explicit Kumiko-Reina-Taki. Someone at Kyoani just really wanted Kumiko to be a lesbian. My guess is Yamada.
