Let's all freak out over new interviews together.
>Q: What was the most memorable scene for you, or one you are glad to have seen animated?
>Kubo: The last scene of episode 7.
>Kubo: The last scene of e7 influenced the flow of the show and left quite an impression. I'm glad I portrayed everything that lead up to it.
>Kubo: I found it funny that overseas fans kept asking for a confirmation regarding ep7 scene - the Japanese fans didn't seem to need any.
So is this enough of a confirmation for you, fags?
Yeah, this is why Western fanbases annoy me at times.
I'm glad she's so proud of that scene too and acknowledges the nice feedback, makes it more likely we'll get another kiss.
Reminder that Chris deserved to place on the podium the most, and now he will retire on a career low point.
>Kubo: I can't do anything on my own, so seriously, nothing has been decided about the eventual continuation yet! (laughs)
What kind of doujins are you hoping get posted from C91?
>tfw your ship will be dead in S2
Feels bad. But I'm encouraged by the fact that a) Beka has been carrying a torch for Fairy for the past 5+ years now, and b) there's no indication that he's even aware of Mila's existence.
As a Fairyfag, I feel like Fairy was only a "third-wheel" because of his hostile feelings towards BaldFat relationship because of Victor fucking off and abandoning him. Now that he seems to be over that, it should be much easier to write him with them. It really depends on what you define as "third-wheel" though. To me, third-wheel is someone who obviously doesn't want to be around or doesn't feel included when a couple is near. If he's included and isn't hostile, then it should be fine. I'm more worried about him possibly being jelly over Otabek/Mila, but that could also be cute if it doesn't amount to him getting cucked and just develops his bonds further and allows him to make sense of his feelings more as he's growing into an older teen.
>Kubo: I'm sure Yurio will continue to grow through his interactions with other skaters, so this is definitely something to look forward to. I'm not saying Lilia&Yakov WILL get back together, but it feels that way. (laughs) Then there's Viktor and Yuri, acting the way they do. And Mila's kinda starting to be into Otabek. So it's kinda like, "Please don't forget about Yurio, everyone!" (laughs)
Oh, you scared me for a minute.
Otabek doesn't care about her. She can crush all she wants.
No but I expected the usual fujobait thing which is not to give either a female love interest while keeping with the 'friendship' theme. It seems really weird that she would insist on Mila having a crush on Otabek. The anime is over for npw and apart from upsetting fujos what does it bring her?
This. Shipping it is fine, but Fairy is not interested in romance and his character arc partly centers around him making different bonds with different people and growing from it. I honestly don't understand how you can be a Fairyfag and not have come to terms with this at present.
B-But I really wanted Mila and Sara to have a thing
>Kubo: I didn't want this story to be one of Yuri trying to defeat Viktor - figure skating is all about how well you yourself can perform, and so I thought their relationship would be better if it was built on them mutually inspiring one another.
>Kubo: It turned out Viktor and Yuri can't live without each other and can't think about separation and had to revise their initial plans.
>Q: Viktor's response to Yuri's skating in ep7 was quite something. (laughs)
>Kubo: I made sure to include many moments that lead up to it so that it didn't feel out of place, and when the emotions were running high... I decided to strike. (laughs)
>Kubo: Yuri wanted Viktor to stay by his side as his coach, but was very aware that he can't hold him back. And so, he decided to "end it".
>Kubo: After Viktor becomes his coach, a new emotion is born within Yuri - the need to show someone else's existence through his skating.
>Kubo: For Viktor, Yuri's someone who needs him in a new, fresh way. He's incredibly happy about the bond they share. Viktor thought Yuri would need his presence from now on, too, so when he was told that they should "end it", it came as a huge shock. Viktor's capable of saying some awful, awful things, but Yuri's no better. (laughs)
>Kubo: When writing the story, even we ourselves kept thinking how we want to see more of Yuri's skating and interacting with Viktor.
>Kubo: Thanks to the people around him - Viktor, Yuri, Yakov, Lilia, Yuu-chan and, recently, Otabek - Yurio started changing for the better. I want Yurio to become someone who can be frank about needing and being needed by other people. In the last episode, Yurio was filled with strong emotions - he wished for Yuri to continue his skating career. It sure feels like couples just keep popping up around Yurio. (laughs) It even feels like Yakov and Lilia might get back together.
You guys I'm pretty sure the point of this remark is that people in Fairy's immediate circle are all interested in somebody, not that Mila and Otabek are going to start dating. Mila is Fairy's rinkmate. She's actually around him, hence "Please don't forget about Yurio".
We're definitely getting a second season since this is pretty much MAPPA's only very successful show, but it's going to be a while until it airs.
MAPPA still has 3 anime they announced before that they have to follow up and produce: Altair (maybe Spring 2017?), Inuyashiki (Fall 2017), and the second Rage of Bahamut season (end of 2017?) which they announced a year and a half ago.
Plus as other as have said, Kubo and Sayo need to write out a whole story for the second season, get references, ect. before they start animating anything, and I'm pretty sure this time they'd want to start animating much before the air date due to the popularity.
I'm honestly expecting to wait until 2018 for a sequel, but if we get it before it would kind of be surprising. Although they shouldn't wait too long and let the hype die out.
Sara is into gooks
Don't kid yourself, it was full on fujobait. And the only het we got was side characters, exactly like in Free. If you expect Fairy to get a girlfriend at some point in S2 for instance, you are the retarded one. It's not what the target audience wants to see. Him being single and them teasing with 'muh friend who fell for his warrior eyes' is one thing, full blown hetshit is another matter entirely.
Fairy is not interested in romance for the time being, but that doesn't mean he can't have a crush on his first friend after some time has gone by. Not saying it's going to happen, I'm not psychic and I don't pretend to be, I'm just saying that his S2 arc does not have to mirror his S1 arc.
Anyway I don't know what people are freaking out about. Mila liking Otabek does not mean BikeFairy is kill.
Yeah that's why she literally based Victor off a 3dpd gay man and paid homages to two others in the show.
I liked the idea of Mila/Sara just as much as the next guy but they literally only sat together, it's not like anyone was baited here.
I never said Fairy was getting a girlfriend, just that this show doesn't give a shit about het or gay like you think it does. Kubo's favorite, JJ, has a fiancee that was a huge mention for his character.
With Kubo it seems like one should go with the obvious. Like with the "something round and golden" line, one's immediate thought is a ring right? Then everyone was saying that it couldn't be and they must mean a gold medal, our first thought was correct.
I really don't get what she finds attractive in JJ. I would take some episodes focused on Lilia/Yakov past together over JJ shit with his fiance anyday. At least both Yakov and Lilia are interesting characters.
> It sure feels like couples just keep popping up around Yurio. (laughs)
That said I doubt anything will come out of this, it's a background crush.
BikeFairy was never the same as Baldfat though, Fairy's journey through love is Agape, and Otabek was part of that. They were meant to be platonic.
>We will never see Fairy tribute skate to the leaf
Why to live?
>Fairy's journey through love is Agape, and Otabek was part of that.
I sure hope they find some new theme for S2 than Eros/Agape, in which case that argument doesn't work anyway.
Agape doesn't necessarily have to be platonic though.
>Not to be confused with philia – brotherly love – agape embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends, that serves regardless of circumstances.
>I really don't get what she finds attractive in JJ
I agree, but my point still stands. BaldFat is the only gay couple surrounded by het so I don't know why people think Kubo has something against het or that it would be out of the question.
Yuuri is addicted to Victor now, I wonder how bad off he was when they were separated for Nationals.
>Agape is used in ancient texts to denote feelings for one's children and the feelings for a spouse, and it was also used to refer to a love feast.
It absolutely can be romantic, unless you're saying spouses don't love each other romantically.
We don't truly know his feelings actually, he's been obsessed with/admired Yurio since childhood apparently but Yurio's rinkmate Mila might a crush on him. So it could go either way.
Sayo will just have to convince Kubo.
Your fellow countryman has had a crush on a boy he met at skate camp for 5+ years.
He probably knows who Mila is, but he doesn't acknowledge her existence even once in this show.
I wanted to see him talk shit to JJ after his win. I guess since he wasn't satisfied with his win and was already looking ahead to the future and bigger obstacles to overcome a bronze medal scrub like JJ was the last thing on his mind though.
Mila's just smitten, they don't know each other. Who can blame her though?
It's not talking about romantic love anon, stop reaching. They mention spouse and children, because they are talking about unconditional love. It's about the family aspect, not the romance aspect. You can feel Agape for your lover, but it has nothing to do with the romance.
Anon is half right, agape is simply a very deep and unconditional love, it's not specified whether platonic or romantic, technically it's supposed to be something above both but I guess can include both.
However, YoI does seem to use the more common interpretation, deep platonic love.
No, you are literally wrong. Agape doesn't designate platonic love, it describes the depth of one's love.
>In agape, humanity does not merely express its nature, but transcends it. Agape identifies with the interests of the neighbor "in utter independence of the question of his attractiveness" and with no expectation of reciprocity.
I feel like Mila is just the designated spare pairing partner in this fandom. They only care about her in combination with another character they could ship her with. It sucks because she can definitely great if she gets more focuses when the story switches to Russia. But currently people only seem to like her because they push another character with her in a relationship. Previously it was Georgi because they wanted him to get over Anya, then it was Fairy to make him straight and after that it was Sara because yuri.
can a nigga from /fa/ get an id on everything that victor wears because he's probably the most well-dressed character i've seen in anime so far
Otabek admired and befriended Fairy after 5 years. Mila is Fairy's rinkmate and sort of like an annoying older sister figure. It's hinted in the final episode Mila is starting to like Otabek when she blushes over him. She also had a boyfriend who cheated on her and Fairy asked her if she was horny when she was hugging up on him because she just dumped her cheating bf.
Don't know if Otabek is straight or not, that comment was really offhand by the director and seemed more like a joke than anything.
>Viktor's capable of saying some awful, awful things, but Yuri's no better. (laughs)
Confirmed Hitlers in love. Sasuga.
This gives me hope that S2 will have that relationship/communication evaluation after all.
>Dont get me wrong, I would bang a feminine trap boy in his boypussy too
Your countryman is the same as you then, you can sleep soundly tonight.
It's unconditional love, you can feel it for anyone. The point is, it's not specifically about romance just how agape between parent and child isn't specifically about family.
If he had Agape for Otabek, it doesn't mean he's inlove with him.
It doesn't have to have anything to do with romantic love, because that's no the fucking point of Agape.
And it's not specifically platonic either. It can describe romantic or platonic love, but in order for it to be agape, it has to be unconditional and without end. That's the whole point I'm trying to make.
>people ITT can't define agape properly
That's the whole point, it's transcendent and hard to easily comprehend, unlike eros, phillia, etc. It indicates depth of love more than anything.
>probably the most well-dressed character i've seen in anime so far
I never said it was specifically platonic, I'm saying it doesn't have to have anything to do with romance, because that's not the fucking point of Agape. If the feelings happen to be romantic also, great. but that's not Agape.
If you weren't saying it was specifically platonic, then you weren't even following the fucking reply (>>151523547) that set this tangent into motion.
> Fairy's journey through love is Agape, and Otabek was part of that. They were meant to be platonic.
Agape is not strictly platonic love. That was the entire point of this discussion. Keep up or don't talk.
>you will never carry Yuzu like a cute little girl and feel that ass in your hands
People have already agreed that it's not specifically platonic. You're just mad that they won't say it's romantic. It's neither specifically romantic or platonic, because that's not the fucking point.
Find out in season 2
>going to be apart for at least 3-4 days at a time for every competition they're not in together, including nationals
I don't think they're going to survive.
Are you fucking retarded? No seriously, have you even read anything I've typed here?
>It can describe romantic or platonic love, but in order for it to be agape, it has to be unconditional and without end. That's the whole point I'm trying to make.
>Agape doesn't designate platonic love, it describes the depth of one's love.
>Agape doesn't necessarily have to be platonic though.
Where the fuck are you getting "no fuck you it has to be romantic" out of this"? Kill yourself.
I don't know what everyone is riled up about. BikeFairy lives, is the cutest, etc.
>being sexual with godlike beings
Kinda reminds me of Ecstasy of Saint Teresa desu, literally depicts and describes a female saint finding agape through a sexual/orgasm metaphor
Feel free to join us here in the future where we copy and paste things
So is fairy in love with Pig? It always confused me that he got mad at BaldFat being BaldFat because he really doesn't seem to be in love with Victor but if it was Yuuri he liked it would make sense.
No idea where this would go storywise but...
>ywn play doll with Yuzu putting on make-up, cute wigs and sexy meido outfits on him while he blushes and stammers 'y-yamete kudasai'
>It's not talking about romantic love anon, stop reaching. They mention spouse and children, because they are talking about unconditional love. It's about the family aspect, not the romance aspect.
I literally said it was talking about unconditional love, how did you manage to twist that in your head to mean I was talking about platonic love? I mentioned the "family aspect" in reference to the spouse to highlight that it wasn't the romance aspect that was agape but the unconditional love or the love that family would feel. That's exactly what's described with Fairy and his Dedushka.
No. Fairy's whole thing is that he wants to win, but only if he's going against the best. He knows that Pig is a great skater, but that his various insecurities and neuroses keep him from performing at the level that he should. So he tries to make him get over those insecurities in the only way he knows how (by being angry and tsundere).
His admiration of Pig is more of a fond rivalry, not romance.
I feel like Viktor would be a bad coach for anyone who isn't Yuuri. I don't see him being able to get as emotionally invested in somebody else the same way. At least not any of the skaters we've seen so far.
Not quite. Fairy was interested in Yuuri because of his step-sequence but also noted he flubbed his jumps and simply wanted to see him skate with no mistakes. Then he met him and got dissapointed and wrote him off as a loser afterall not worth anyone's time.
In the end, it's him just wanting Yuuri to do well as a fellow skater and wanting to compete with him and beat his WR too. It's not so much admiration as it is respect. He's not looking up to Yuuri, but acknowledges him and wants him to do well so he can kick his ass in the future.
He really wouldn't. Him being a coach to Yuuri was also about him trying to get close to Yuuri in particular after the banquet, so of course he wouldn't be as close with another skater.
Stay mad you're the one who misinterpreted shit in the first place because you can't even comprehend light fucking reading apparently and got so autistic over it you derailed the thread to post the same thing over and over.
i don't think yuri's going to win s2. it's impossible, victor's returning and he has to win one more time and they won't get married.
He shouldn't be a coach at all. He's ass at it, he's even a shit coach to Yuuri. He only provides emotional support because they want to fuck each other, nothing to do with the coaching aspect.
>Yuri needs to man up and tell Viktor he'll marry him if Viktor wins gold.
I can picture Yuuri saying this and it being hot/cute as fuck, depending on what mode he's in.
Why do they make merchandise of characters who showed up for like two seconds and had no impact on anything? Are there seriously people out there who will waste money on an Incest keychain?
I wonder if Yuzu is really the cute autistic twink he seems to be or if that's just a persona.
Not that I am judging you in any way, shape or form.
But are there actually any guys watching this?
The rest probably don't matter to merchants as most fujos will buy for BaldFat and Fairy. They can trade/sell JJ to Miyano fangirls but good luck to them in reselling the rest.
It only works with Yuuri because he's already a pro and just needed some fine tuning, Victor would be disastrous for a teen. He might be fine for beginners who are children though.
I wouldn't read too much into defining Fairy by "agape", since of the four types of love, the definition of what agape actually is the most malleable (and in a literal sense, it means the love that God and man have for each other).
Fairy's arc is about learning to "need and be needed by other people" (see >>151520669), which means interacting with all the other types of love - eros (sexual/romantic love, aka Pig and Bald), storge (family love, aka dedushka, Lilia, and Yakov), and philia (brotherly love, aka Otabek). So to lock Fairy into one "type" of love and say he can only be agape is an incorrect interpretation, IMO.
Now, I'm a Bikefairy fag so I'm biased, but it's worth noting that the perfected form of philia that C. S. Lewis references in The Four Loves - David and Jonathan from the Bible - is rife with homoerotic subtext and interpretation (see the third paragraph of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_and_Jonathan). So I don't think it's correct to say that the Fairy/Otabek dynamic is a wholly platonic one.
That's not what I meant, I was referring to the way he went "lol how come you don't know how to express it, it's a feeling lmao" when Fairy asked him about Agape. He does provide feedback, but he does it in a way that can be detrimental because it feels like he's insulting his students.
You mean he doesn't look like animechinese? I like how for once chinese character doesn't look stereotypical - I always thought it was a bit hypocritical how nips draw Japanese people with hair of any color and shape but always draw Chinese people with black slick hair.
Oh shit, I didn't even realise.
What the fuck?
Pretty much. It also only works with Yuuri because of Yuuri's own emotional investment, you just know that Viktor's savage comments wouldn't work if he didn't want to impress him so bad.
But anon, Gravitation was more than obvious from the first couple minutes.
I don't think so, I just think it's him being tired of baldfat being gay and annoying as fuck. Like baldfat is my otp but if I knew them irl I'd probably fucking hate them too. Victor quit in the middle of a legendary career to fuck off and chase dick, while literally forgetting his promises to Yurio. And Yuuri is just a mess and is too busy worrying about Victor to even perform well 90% of the time, meaning he doesn't take his rivalry with Yurio seriously at all. Lovesick people are actually unbearably retarded; I relate to Yurio's frustration completely.
FatFairy is good though. In fanon.
Fairy would probably just eventually get a spray-bottle for when he catches them and tells them to get back to training. Like when you find cats fucking around in your bushes.
I'd full-heartedly believe in that in that if he hadn't got BTFO so hard. I know he was complaining about lacking motivation from day one, so he wasn't really dedicating himself fully, but the man got literally swallowed by the new generation of figure skaters. It would be weird if that doesn't shake his confidence really hard, specially since he already seemed pretty self-aware about his age. I'd really like him to come back though, how popular is he among the nips?
It's still extra cash like they can simply sell Victor an Pig on their own too. But like I mention cheap merch like key-chains are sold in boxsets so it not like they're stuck with unsold merch.
JJ would be better and explain why he saw Piggy as a semen demon.
It's both funny and sad
not only are all the good doujinshi event only, I can't even buy the jacked up price ones on Yahoo cause all the sellers block proxy services. If I get a hold of any I will def. scan and post them everywhere cause this shit is ridiculous.
I'm annoyed Kubo basically confirmed we're never getting Fairy's backstory because
which only makes me more curious.
I would watch this anime
I believe he is actually a little minx once he is comfortable with people. He has that little smile sometimes that is begging to get dicked and even his eyes look so fucking lewd at times. It's obvious he is asking for it.
It has even a ridiculously long title like a good romcom
>Viktor's capable of saying some awful, awful things, but Yuri's no better. (laughs)
This is my favourite part of the interview and explains pretty well why BaldFat is so great.
My first wednesday without BaldFat feels like shit.
He's already getting on their case, Yurio's going to be the voice of reason I bet.
I kind of feel bad for Fairy having to deal with Dumb and Dumber next season. Hopefully it will lead to cute moments though.
Literally him but photoshopped.
He'd look cute as a girl, wouldn't he?
>Will Fairy ever find love?
Already happened, it's just love in waiting. Give them a few years.
Post episode 10 this comic looks very OOC for both Victor and Phichit. It was Victor, crying his eyes out being forgotthe for a year, not Yuuri. And Phichit was way too happy for Baldfat for someone who was cucked.
Im not into PD3D but I remember to seen some beauty contest pic from an all male school. They was fucking cute without photoshop.
I'm more interested in Victor/Fairy seeing as I'm still not sure what's up with them. Fairy/Pig scenes are always great though.
Fairy is a magical being who's purpose is to be perfect and watch over the love of those around him aka his Agape.
I know it's because of fujos but if you had told me the year would end with Yamamoto finally getting her due hit anime I would have scarcely believed it. It's one good spin on 2016
Thinking about it I don't think Yuuri really wanted to retire, it's just that he didn't want to skate if Victor wasn't by his side as his coach. He never imagined that Victor would do both.
Y: Did you see me skate? I did a good job, right!
D: Yeah, I was watching. You were the best of everyone! I'm so proud you're my grandson!
Y: Hehe! Jii-cha(stomach growling)
D: Hahaha! Maybe I'll start bringing a snack for you next time!
Y: ! Yeah!
Y: What'll you bring for a snack?
D: Hmm, I wonder. What would yo ulike?
Y: Um, well...
D: Is it good?
Y: It's good!!
Y: Jii-chan, you're amazing! You could work at a piroshky shop!
D: Haha. This is the flavor passed down from my dad and grandpa. Well, this is the only thing I'm good at making, but...
Y: Can I learn how to make them too?
D: I'll teach you when you're older
Y: You'd better!
D: ... Yuurachka. I'm sorry...
Kid: O, that looks good, Yuuri!
Kid: Yeah, it looks tasty!
K: Give one to me!
Y: No way!
K: What, why not? You've got so many
Y: They're all mine
K: Ah, Yuuri, you're so stingy
K: You're gonna get fat and become a fatty~
K: You're gonna turn into a pig~
Y: I'll practice a ton, so that won't happen!
Y: My grandpa made these for me. He made them for me so I can skate better. So they're all mine.
D: You're amazing, Yuurachka. You're such a strong boy.
D: You're so cute, Yuurachka. You'll always be my number 1.
Y: Hey, Jii-chan!
Y: Today I got lots of praise!
D: I saw, you were the best
Y: Um, I'll take the top spot at our club recital, so watch it!
D: Oohh, I'm looking forward to it! Of course I'll watch.
D: Because I'm rooting for you. I'll do my best to learn how to make more foods you like.
Y: Yeah! Let's both do our best!
Yep. He wanted to continue skating before Victor showed up as his coach, if you rewatch episode 1 he's thinking how he wants to fight against Victor on the ice again. Then Victor shows up and becomes his coach and Yuuri gets too attached to him to be able to continue without him but at the same time he doesn't want to hold him back by doing so.
Thank you so much!
I need more Dedushka and Fairy.
That's under the assumption that she wants a different theme for season 2 and she wasn't talking about the overall theme of YoI as a whole.
I would love his backstory, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. You'd think them being in Russia it would bring these things up though.
I mean I wasn't being 100% serious when I said next season's theme was "the day I became an orphan", but yeah, I'd like to at least get enough to piece it together during the inevitable 24/7 threads while we're waiting for previews again.
I can't believe I fucking miss it already
The thing is, she doesn't even have to spend a whole lot of time on it if she wants to focus on his bright future/doesn't want the mood to become too tragic etc. I would just like some clarification atleast.
I know I'm late, but literally who baits fashionfags using Kuragehime?
Seriously, look at this perfection.
>that slighly sulky look
>that forceful yank as he pulls Victor down
>the glassy effect Victor's eyes get
I feel so ashamed for thinking he'd be another generic beta MC.
Yuuri's VA seems so off the mark sometimes; in the latest spoon interview he says that as far as Yuuri and Victor's relationship goes he sees Yuuri as being like a mom to Victor. Yeah.
Suwabe says, "As far as how the two view each other specifically? If I went and said something here, people might take that (”that” emphasized, implying he would be making a homo/no homo statement) as an official statement, so I think I should refrain from saying anything. Kubo-san also said that I should take the stance of letting the viewers decide for themselves what's going on and whatever they may think is the right answer."
>that leglock with those strong skater's legs
>that cute hug and kiss
Yuuri is truly the best of both worlds.
>The story in this song is pretty simple, is about a guy who spents his life for the eternal peace, he works hard, prey and belive to find the supreme peace.
The song finish with the death of the guy, his freedom is near and finally after living all his life for this moment, he prey that what he has done is useful to catch the eternal happiness.
Fairy dies in S2, noble sacrifice for the sake of someone else
I think I was wrong.
>Kubo-san also said that I should take the stance of letting the viewers decide for themselves what's going on and whatever they may think is the right answer.
Pathetic, both him and Kubo.
Even Ishida refuses to speak one way or another on Kaworu and Shinji's relationship. It's always "well I'll leave it up to the viewers to decide" or something along those lines.
Yuuri's VA seems very reluctant to call the relationship for what it is. It's no wonder he's a good match for Yuuri. Suwabe at least fanboys a little and gushes about their relationship.
They're just VAs. They might get fuck over for saying the wrong thing for something they didn't create.
Anno backs up Kawoshin but no idea if Kubo will back up BaldFat.
>no idea if Kubo will back up BaldFat.
She already basically did in the interview above.
But I feel that she thinks it's already really obvious in the show itself and shouldn't have to say much more.
Drunk Yuuri hugging Victor's beautiful manboobs as hard as he can is all I ever wanted.
In a later question they talk about how they went out to eat with Kubo/Yamamoto and a bunch of staff after an event back in the summer, and Kubo and Yamamoto already had plans for how the story might progress after the last episode at that point, which really surprised them.
