What did you like about Ghost in the Shell?
>>151519668
that shes hot. believe there are supposed to be other things.
Good world building if we're strictly talking about SAC.
I also really prefered the stand alone episodes. I found the philosophical aspects of the laughing man story line a bit contrived.
>>151519668
World building and the laughing man
I'm struggling to get through SAC 2
>>151519668
Nearly everything.
I think it's the only japanese work with a 'working' future.
it's not weebonized shit like everything else.
You don't have lolis with laser guns to kill aliens or a society of 90% female because of a third world war or whatever retarded shit nips generally use.
Robots are robots, they're made not to look cute/hot/awesome, they're made to do their job.
It just feels so real.
Crazy how Masamune thought about all of this futuristic stuff in a 80's setting.
The part where they talk for 15 minutes straight
>>151520381
Yeah, the backstory and high concept sci-fi episodes were the best parts of both series. The philosophizing was done better by the movies.

Innocence is just a miserable pile of quotes, it doesn't even count as a movie.
>>151521761
>or a society of 90% female because of a third world war or whatever retarded shit nips generally use.
I've never seen that used as a plot device. But now I really want to. It sounds interesting.
>>151519668
haven't watched it but i've been listening to this for the last month . how can i stop

The atmosphere was great. Couple scenes were very skillfully made. The story itself wasn't that amazing.
>>151519668
Only problems with Stand Alone Complex is its a bit washed out and suffers from the whole eary 2000's low res digitally composited look.
I'm fine with muted palettes but it just generally looks like the gamma's been set wrong. So its in this weird middle ground between colorful 90s shows and colorful modern shows. I swear vidya started having this problem around the same time too.
Also first season has some real QUALITY bits. They can't decide how they're gonna draw the Major's face.
Purely subjectively, I don't like the slut suit, not that the major isn't pretty hedonistic. Its just that the Business woman and operator suits were hotter and its weird as fuck seeing her in OP's outfit when arimaki's briefing them.
Pic related will always be my favorite look, /fit/.
>>151519668
The atmosphere was what hit me first about it.
>mfw so fucking lazy not to look for ScarJo pic
>>151521971
The first Opening really takes me back to 2005 when I first watched it on Adult Swim. It was my first non-Shonen anime and I'll always appreciate it for that.
Not much actually. I always found Shirow's work a little overrated. Felt the same way about Appleseed.
>>151522437
>Pic related will always be my favorite look
Agreed.
Are you ready /a/?
>>151519668
the shell
>>151523503
Is that the Under the skin lady? If so I am hyped.
I want to fuck the Major
that's about it, there's no shortage of pseudo-philosophical nonsense in anime, and certainly no shortage of media that tries to focus on the social impacts of technology in the future
>>151523503
Yeah sure why not
At best it'll be a good movie, and at worst I'll have fun talking about how bad it is
It's not like there's anything else coming out in march
>>151523503
It's going to be so bad.
It's just going to be another 'wow' hollywood movie, and I'll never understand why they picked her to play the major.
>>151519668
The first movie or the series? Or all forms of it?
>>151519668
ghost in the shell was cyberpunk. cyberpunk was cool.
neither thing remained true.
>>151521761
This guy gets it.
>>151524825
>ghost in the shell was cyberpunk.
Not everything in a near future setting is cyberpunk.
>>151519668
Cyborg tactical military action, overpowered but not invincible protagonist (though I wish the disparity in the team wasn't so bad that the Major existing basically made everyone else look like jobbers, even Batou), Togusa being essentially unmodified but still able to keep up with the heavily augmented team, the philosophical questioning of what it means to be "human" in a world where people are rapidly replacing up to their ENTIRE body with cybernetics and in that environment is there evidence of the soul, exploration of possible future tech and the exploration of its advantages and dangers alike, that one episode where a dying man uploaded his brain into a fucking prototype tank so he could make it home and make peace with his family before he was gone for good, etc.
>>151522437
>>151523032
>i don't like the slut suit
Amen to that, if anything the attempt at pandering takes away from otherwise serious tones in most cases when she wears it. If the point being made was that it's not inappropriate or fanservicey because she's not wearing slutwear on a human/biological body then why not go full bore and just be "naked" in a formed but plain/featureless body (no nips/slit) and skip the outfit entirely? Tactical gear or at the very, very least the slut suit+pants, please.
>>151521761
The Major was literally made to look hot, her body was a common prostitute model
>>151525441
Where exactly is this even said?
I've heard people bring it up again and again, but I've never actually seen it in the official material.
I think you guys have been reading too many doujins.
>>151525128
GitS definitely is though
>>151525441
So for one, where did you hear that? Even tho it wouldn't surprise me, at all.
And for two.. and?
If anything it's just part of my point.
Robot prostitutes are hot because they're supposed to be. Nothing wrong with adding sex to the mix. It's a mature theme in a mature show/manga.
But there's a difference between adding 'sex' as in GitS, and adding it as in whatever the other chinese cartoons have.
I want my You's back.
>>151519668
The incredible math
That episode where the sniper dude tells the story of how the major got his ass was amazing
>>151520241
motokos slutty outfit, the world, the philsophical concepts, its prediction for the stand alone complex, the well written detective like stories, and aramaki being an alpha AF despite being old
>>151527416
That and the episode where the communist cyborg fights capitalism by shooting rolls of coins out of her arm-cannon
>>151527576
they way u said it makes it more funny, gonna rewathc that episode
>>151527576
that's also the ep where the Major gets thrown into the trash by the android with the dick gun, and attends the debriefing in her underwear
best ep of 1st gig
>>151521908
At least the last part had some pretty imagery!
And a jump scare. yey?
>>151519668
I like how Motoko is such a cum guzzling slage.

>>151519668
It was a futuristic sci fi cop drama and it didn't talk down to me when I was a teenager. Also a lot of the stories were interesting and pretty violent.

This.

honestly one of the best ending songs ever
I did never miss one
