Although Jotaro's popularity exists mostly from Part 3's appeal and his cool badass image, I firmly believe he deserves to be the face of the franchise more than any other JoJo.

He deserves it because he did way more than any other Jojo. He had to carry the burden of the Joestar family way more than anyone else. He was the one who suffered the most and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise. After seventeen years of no knowledge he’s thrown into this world of evil spirits and vampires and has people trying to kill him around every corner, as well as the pressure of his mother suffering from a curse incurable by all things except killing this ‘big bad’ DIO.

He was just a 17 year old kid when he lost two of the three people he could call his friends, one of them being younger than him, and he continued to fight. He never stopped fighting. He fought to kill Dio and save his mother, and he continued to fight during all the years to come to avoid shit happening to his family and to the whole world. He neglected his family? Yes, he did, and it wasn’t the best option but he did what he thought was right, he did it for his family, he fought for his family. He sacrificed everything for fighting evil.

Jotaro fought until the end. He didn’t have peace since he was 17. He did everything he could all the time, he gave all of himself. He didn’t really have a chance to be happy, to live his own life. He lived for others, he lived for his family, for his friends, and for the whole world. He isn’t perfect, he failed a lot of times, but he did his best, from part 3 til part 6 he was the only one who never stopped fighting (and he might have died thinking he had failed, but his sacrifice enabled Jolyne to live and make her own sacrifice by protecting Emporio).

He was forced into a life he never asked for and made the journey into becoming a true hero in his own right.
He really does deserve this role of being the face of the series.

Even if you only get one or two it's going to be easier to get them on the subsequent run because you get to keep your inventory. One of the great things about this game is no matter how much shit your stand sucks you can always let events play out as per the story and get carried to the end.

Also you really want to have met Stroheim and Speedwagon before the submarine. They'll give you the ultra violet laser weapon which does large damage to everything and massive damage to vampires so even with your crap stand you can still fight.

In Part 1 Jonathan and Dio were basically the only characters while speedwagon played narrator, Part 2 no one won a single fight against a non-grunt but Joseph, it made cool characters like Caesar, Lisa Lisa and Stroheim kind of lame, and part 3 had the same problem because even though Polnareff and Kakyoin won some fights, it was nothing Jotaro couldn't handle by ORA'ing the fuck out of someone (except for vanilla ice, that was a great fight).

Showing Koichi grow as a character and focusing on Rohan definitely made DiU way more interesting.
