Behold /a/! I am your prophet,
the one who's uncle works at Konami!
I got you senpai
Have you guys heard about the upcoming "Spirit" mechanic? It's a new mechanic that will be introduced in DSoD, according to an anon who claims to work at Konami(me).
Basically, the mechanic is based on the "TAMASHII" meme. It revolves around Spirit monsters, a new type of Extra Deck monsters that will require you to tribute certain types of monsters in order to be summoned(such as one Fusion monster and one Synchro monster). You can only run one singular Spirit monster, as it is supposed to represent your TAMASHII.
As I said earlier, the mechanic will be introduced in DSoD. Each of the main characters of the movie(Yugi, Kaiba and Aigami) will use one. It'll also link the DM universe to the Arc-V universe, because G.O.D. Genesis Omega Dragon, the Arc-V ultimate boss monster, will be a Spirit monster that requires you to tribute one Pendulum Dragon monster, one Synchro Dragon monster, one Xyz Dragon monster and one Fusion Dragon monster in order to be summoned from the Extra Deck.
Spirit, as a mechanic, will also serve as a premise for the next series, à la Pendulum for Arc-V. I already know what the next series is about, but all I can say is that the protagonist will be similar to Dark Bakura in appearance, and his character will be a mix of Yusei, Shun, Yuto and Yuzu. He will also be an absolute master of the Spirit mechanic.
Stay hyped, guys!
to be completely honest with you desu senpai I still get butthurt about it because my original Chaos Summoning post from February predated that silly Spirit Summon pasta which was nothing more than a rip off of my idea
>all I can say is that the protagonist will be similar to Dark Bakura in appearance
>and his character will be a mix of Yusei, Shun, Yuto and Yuzu.
He doesn't like to stand out, so why not.
There is no such thing as too many forms. Each one served a purpose in and out of the plot. They each marked a different point of Yuma or Astral's character. Flamewingman has one evolution and Junk Warrior has none. Stardust was decent
Reminder, Arc-V production is so fucked up one of the animators tweeted this
>"Finishing it by the end of the year is nice and all, but I'm just sitting here thinking "So can you please give us details?" What do they want us to do? Just make up something random and draw whatever?"
No, this is not true.
Each form of Hope and ZEXAL was created as a consolidation and/or mending of their friendship or to show off the character development (like in Roots' case)
>nice and all
She's trying to be as respectful as possible towards her superiors and the tweet is written in a light-hearted tone, so your translation is pretty bad.
That doesn't make them cheap. Character growth is always symbolized by monsters in this franchise. Each Stardust evolution was the exact same thing. So were things like Rainbow Neos, Neos Wiseman and the Neos deck as a whole. Yuya has Rebellion, Brave-Eyes, his Synchro monsters and Raging.
Congratulations! You just found out that this is a show to sell cards!
But really, I'm glad Hope forms had their reasons to be. That is not cheap at all when you remember that nobody ever buys cards onscreen anymore (a fact that always bugged me a bit)
I know I may be missing some details from not watching some episodes but... Why it seemed like nobody reallh called out Leo on his bullshit plan that ended up destroying everyone anyways?! (OK, apart from Reiji)
Especially since there were plenty of evil actions that were just evil for evil's sake from his part, like what he did to everyone in Academia (especially Yuri) and the invasion of Heartland. I mean, what the fuck did that atrocity accomplish?! If he wanted his daughter, he could have had someone slipping in and take her to him.
5D's didn't have that many boss monsters, and at least took the time to properly introduce them to the viewers with actual build-up. Shooting Star Dragon was foreshadowed long before its first appearance, and Bruno always hinted at something greater than Accel Synchro, which is why SSD and SQD always felt significant. But in Zexal, the way Hope evolutions were delivered felt like a reverse monster of the week type of thing and I hated Yoshida for that. It should have felt like a pitiful attempt to shill cards to anyone who isn't 9, because unlike in 5D's they didn't even try to hide it with kick ass music and visual direction, instead relying on those boring CG models as Yuma kept pulling bosses out of his ass. Zexal never topped the scene where Yusei summons Shooting Star Dragon, and for good reason. Kuwahara is actually inferior to Ono.
They are not that boring.
BUT not having many boss monsters means that kids won't like this show a lot, as it was mentioned in the last thread, kids like watching the monsters.
Probably another reason why 5Ds flopped in Japan.
Shooting Star was the only built up monster. No one else got one. Shooting Star's summon was cool but that was more the music than the summon itself.Every one of Hope's evolutions meant something and was handled well. They weren't monster of the week because of the time and distance between them as well as the significance of each one. They didn't pop up out of nowhere. They were always emphasized by character growth culminating in Yuma creating a Hope that looks like him.
The bosses aren't significant because outside of Yusei's they are barely used. People complain about Zexal being turtle behind one monster all day but Jack has like 4 Synchro monsters and always summons Red Daemon. Yusei's later duels boiled down to Shooting Star. Saver Star was so hard to summon that it barely got used later on.
>Carries the entire show
>"b-but he lost at the end!"
The ceremonial duel was nothing more than a baton pass, you baka. It was time for Yugi to start his own story, which is why the ending hints at a new adventure.
You just couldn't deal with the fact that Kuwahara is less talented than Ono, so you had to start acting like a toxic faggot even though I tried to make my point as respectfully as possible. That's so retarded.
Hell, I'd actually rank Zexal above 5D's since I'm not a fucking idiot, but unlike you, I'm not the type to ignore its flaws just because I like it. Arc-V made you all go crazy. Zexal is still as bad as it goes.
I am actually proud of you.
Same for this one even if it is the rival
Who cares about you? I'm trying to explain why you shouldn't be surprised that it gets praised more often than Zexal on a website for adults. Stop trying to move the goalposts.
I need this movie right the fuck now
5Ds' target audience is the older community.
Zexal targets little kids and has more japanese specific quirks.
Obviously a board like /a/ with lots of older non japanese people would be more preferential to 5Ds over zexal even if the latter was more successful with its target audience.
pls someone post some Yuri faces from the Yuya duel
So I bought a bag of cards from a yard sale for 3 bucks and these are the holos.
How much are they worth?
i give you one dollar, best i can do
Do the Tyler Sisters have the biggest missed potential among ARC-V's minor supporting characters?
>Tons of one off porn
>Only doujins are them rapind Allen and at the very end moving on to Sayaka and one where they have a futa threesome with Yuya
No, I say they were used exactly as they were created. No fucking way were they created for anything in mind other than the few het doujins Arc-V has,
According to 2ch, the guy who posted the TDIL rumors (which turned out to be true) has posted some card rumors for some of the remaining cards in MACR. Take these with a grain of salt, but here they are:
>Superheavy Samurai Synchro Pendulum
>D HERO Duskutopiaguy (with a very different effect from the anime)
>some of Leo's cards including his Fusion Pendulum
>Lyrical Luscinia Fusion
>1 new Abyss Actor
Is there room for Lost Vambrace or Rank-Up Burial?
So much wrong I don't now where to start,
>Superheavy Samurai Synchro Pendulum
Impossible because MACR doesn't have any room for synchro cards
>Destiny Hero Duskutopiaguy
possible, MACR only has room for one more Fusion monster it's either that or Ruri's fusion
>Leos cards including his fusion pendulum
Impossible, we only have 2 more anime slots for main deck cards it could be Edo's Destiny Hero Dreamguy and that other one too ugly to remember
Probably but very small
Probable there's always at least 1 with each set til now.
Nope, Nope and Nope, not happening.
From 2ch "allows negation of destroy for 1 D HERO and return damage doubled to opponent"
Duskutopia will be printed alongside the LL Fusion, SS Synchro Pendulum and 2 of Leo's cards (Spirit Tech Force - effect plus Fusion Pendulum). The more iffy cards are the Parasite Queen, the Abyss Actor, and the Ritual monster (but the anon mentioned it was a LIGHT attribute so at least there is that). This set will have 1 Synchro, and more Fusions than usual which crowded out Synchro (together with the many Xyz - no Xyz are left all have been revealed)
The animator posted another tweet
>"Well, you end up drawing whatever and THEN going back and fixing it. Y'know, just the usual."
This kinda implies the whole "Guys higher up aren't giving us the reference material we need" problem has been a regular issue with Arc-V. As far as I can understand they're basically telling the animators "Yeah, just draw whatever" only to then go "Nononono, this is wrong, draw it like this" AFTER the job is done.
2ch leaker says "most likely", he also mentioned The Phantom Knights of Possession
I asked, and supposedly Dreamguy will follow because of Duskutopiaguy being printed, so again to the PK anon: yes it's VERY likely
It was obviously a reference to the manga, but I hope the rumor anon is right and Vambrace will actually be printed, I think it's more useful than wrong magnet. I just hope the level change isn't a bad sign
No, I really think we have misjudged why Ono has been such a "hack".
If you look at the real life consequences of Arc-V and its series 9 boosters, then we see that Fusions were exalted and made meta again. Xyz was also pushed but not as much as Fusions were. Hell, even Rituals (which are arguably an outdated/inferior form of Synchro Summoning) were tier 0 for an entire year. In the show itself, Fusions were made to be this great power when in reality it's the weakest Extra Deck method. Also, the Fusion Dimension was
made to be the best dimension while Synchro was irrelevant filler. Even the Xyz Dimension was closely tied to the plot. It represented Fusion coming back to take its place in the meta away from Xyz. Again, Synchro was just irrelevant shit and the Tuners that were released had terrible restrictions by the final card makers. Hell, in the end the Fusion Yu absorbed the Synchro Yu.
tl;dr What I'm saying is that maybe Ono felt that Synchro was cucked and humiliated by Fusion (both in the real game and in the show) so he felt bitter towards GX and he Fusion crowd in Konami. He probably took revenge where it would hurt GX fans the most by cucking Asuka to the extreme (no Fusions plus gets humiliating treatment in Arc-V). Ono also took revenge by cucking Edo: turning him into a 4-time loser with no wins and a whiny bitch with a boss monster that looks like a walking 5D's reference.
Well, not giving animators reference in a timely manner probably makes it harder to quality control. It does explain a lot if the animators, especially those in the outsourced studios, were gimped on precious time because of poor communication and coordination.
Anyone get the feeling the reason Yuzu's and Serena's VA isn't voicing Ray is because of scheduling conflicts? It makes no sense otherwise when Yuzu is Ray's core yet doesn't share her voice like Yuya does with Zarc, the hells going on over there, it sounds like everything went tits up from synchro on and just continue'd tumbling down and down until Konami basically wants to drag it along kicking and screaming until the next series is ready. Did Pepe piss them off that much?
Might as well say he's a plant working for the Vanguard people actively trying to tarnish the Yugioh brand, and it'd probably be more plausible than the garbled mess you just shat out.
What if he's partly right though? It kinda makes sense if you think about it that way. The disrespect to GX legacy characters is so blatant and ridiculous that even the ultimate Destiny Hero is a literal 5Ds circlejerk
How is it not disrespect to put the pyramid, Yusei's golden helmet, Aporia, and "5D" as the face of a Destiny Hero called DuskUTOPIAguy and STILL make Edo lose anyways with not a single win under his belt?
You do know that image with Dusktopia was just the nips making a tongue-in-cheek joke about conspiratorial nitpicking, right? The pyramid thing was the most obvious tell.
They may have disdain for how the show ended up, but it doesn't mean they don't have fun with it
Everyone gets shat on in Arc-V. Just because your precious legacy characters didn't meet some imaginary win/lose quota, it doesn't mean it was due to some nefarious plan by Ono.
There's no way that the "5"-looking thing on the head is a mistake. It makes no sense design wise. Even the fucking font of the "5" matches the 5D's logo. I don't have the comparison picture with me but you can't seriously tell me the head was a coincidence. Same for the pyramid.
Oh please, this was the common knowledge of /arcv/, it's just recently (today) that contrarian edgelords like you think that there's no 5D's references on Duskutopia's design.
Thank you anon, Ono has a hate boner for GX, although to be fair, I would have thought he had one for Zexal too (which the nips liked more). I still think Ono at least detests GX or is envious of its standing compared to his own show.
>this was the common knowledge of /arcv/
What makes you the authority on a thread's population that's always fluctuating and changing with different timezones?
Even if you were given the benefit of the doubt, why would a pyramid be a direct reference to 5D's when the whole thing looks like it could be some generic (but kind of terrible) reference to el dorado, the aztec city of gold, if you were willing to stretch it that far? Incans didn't have a monopoly on pyramids, in case you're that ignorant about south america.
Also, I doubt Ono has any active dislike of GX. Possible neglect and a lack of caring, sure, but your conspiracies amuse me to no end
Ok, I'll grant you the pyramid for argument's sake. But the head is no coincidence. Like I said, even the font of the 5 on his head matches that of the 5Ds logo. But I guess we're going to be contrarian tonight in order to keep the thread alive.
But I AM an authority because I'm an American, you filthy eurocuck
The more that I look at it, the more I think it was probably meant to be a (really ugly) El Dorado reference. Which was fabled to be a utopia (Duskutopia Guy) where gold and jewels are plentiful and the citizens live always in peace.
Just in case you're not just pretending to be retarded as a more creative way to bump the thread, you should get checked out for that rampant paranoia
Try harder next time Ahmed
Ok man, it doesn't look at all like the 5Ds logo. The 5 looking thing with a similar font to the logo next to the D on the head has no connection at all. Just bad design is all, yeah?
Why can't it be both a 5Ds reference and a reference to El Dorado? It doesn't have to be one. The monster is a mishmash of a bunch of ridiculous shit that don't fit the archetype.
How do you know it was even on purpose or done with malicious intent? Whoever the card designer was could've simply slapped together what they were familiar with (if they had history with Yugioh as far back as 5D's) and might not even realize it themselves if they were in a rush.
What if Ono didn't even do anything except give it the approval? That's what's so ridiculous about attributing malice when incompetence explains everything much more simply.
i dont like how Atem's eyes have become smaller with this new style. I miss his big squared eyes
if you saw 5D, they made a lot of mesoamerican references when it comes to the 5 dragons (now 6 thanks to crow), the Pyramid and the feathers are a direct reference to the mesoamericans and then you have the shape that looks like a 5 and the D next to it. Even if it's they don't make it official, the coincidence is too strong
Because it's not in a vacuum. Duskuptopia is just one more thing on top of everything is that has happened. 5Ds is treated like royalty and with care in this show. From the Riding Duel intro before the opening, Jack being the king, Jack and Crow being treated as Godly duelists, Synchro being completely based on riding duels, a whole year devoted to 5Ds fanfiction, All the Academia students being in awe of Scarlight, The references to 5Ds with Jack's double tuning and summon chants. The whole show was basically 5Ds wanking for over a year.
Then you look at the GX references. You get a few background characters looking like GX characters and Ryo's name on the board. You have Edo acting nothing like his GX incarnation, using cards that are nothing like his GX cards, Being the invasion commander but never being treated like a great duelist by anyone, the Tyler Sisters questioning why he was in charge of the invasion, Asuka only beating fodder, Edo never beating anyone, Edo's cards being worse than his GX cards from over 10 years ago, Asuka losing to someone shilling a structure deck who then insults her every chance he gets after the duel, Crow getting revived but Asuka not, Edo playing like a retard against Zarc, Edo's super boss debuting in a loss against Yuri and Yugo, Edo's super boss being absolute shit.
If it was just one thing I'd call it coincidence but this show shits on GX every chance it gets and treats 5Ds like it was crafted by God.
If you have all that """evidence""" of Ono actively hating GX rather than simply not caring about it, why would Duskutopia be such an important tell, rather than a lowly card designer going on his own whims? Ono doesn't draw any of the cards himself, and I doubt he cares to micromanage much either with how poorly coordinated the production is.
I agree on the obvious 5D's wanking, but I don't see active hatred. Edo probably got the most attempts at friendship speeches out of all the legacies, and we already know almost everyone lining up to the Zarc slaughter will only get like a turn before they job like the losers they are.
Duskutopia is icing on the cake. It's GX hate and 5Ds wanking all in one. Ono approves everything that happens and I doubt a random card designer would have a 5Ds fetish in a GX card. Edo getting attempts at friendship speeches isn't good. They amount to nothing and shit on his character even more. He has a forced connection to Yugo and got Jesus'd by Yuya after two interactions. We never understood why he followed the professor and was so loyal to him and he literally threw a tantrum.
>Edo getting attempts at friendship speeches isn't good
How so? If there was one thing 5D's should've taught, it's that Ono likes to signal how morally upright and correct a character is by how many friendship speeches they like to make.
Forced relationships and very lacking backstories isn't only applicable to Edo either, thanks to how poorly the show handles relationships for everyone. It's not like Yuri got that much elaboration for himself, just as one example.
Because they are forced?
>If there was one thing 5D's should've taught, it's that Ono likes to signal how morally upright and correct a character is by how many friendship speeches they like to make.
Which is more 5Ds wanking and shouldn't be forced on characters that have nothing to do with it. Jack and Crow didn't even make friendship speeches in Arc-V. It was Edo and Asuka doing it which goes against their GX characters.
Of course the speeches were forced, it's not like every one that Yusei spat out was a well written piece of dialogue either. But Edo did get more screentime for them.
>Jack and Crow didn't even make friendship speeches in Arc-V
Yeah, they just praise how great Yuya is instead, which the other legacies also like to do.
Also, why would Asuka have an overall alright set of new cards (relative to what she had before, anyway) if the evil big bad Ono was out to get her at every turn before getting carded?
>Which is more 5Ds wanking and shouldn't be forced on characters that have nothing to do with it
How is a director's hackneyed style a specific reference to 5D's when friendship speeches can show up in almost any shounen? That's another whole level of stretching
Getting screentime where you get your shit kicked in each and every time isn't something to celebrate.
>Yeah, they just praise how great Yuya is instead, which the other legacies also like to do.
Which is another Ono character.
>Also, why would Asuka have an overall alright set of new cards (relative to what she had before, anyway) if the evil big bad Ono was out to get her at every turn before getting carded?
She didn't even use those cards in the show and Ono doesn't decide what's printed. Her new monsters from the show aren't even that good. It's her old cards that got buffed.
Only Crow acted closely to his original because his original was always 1 note and muh orphans. Jack was hardly a presence in his own dimension besides his first duel and the very end of Synchro, and was even less interesting than Jean, who didn't accomplish much himself. Kaito was the pet in terms of win record for a while, but they obviously didn't give a shit about his personality, development, and presentation.
And if there's not enough time to go back and rewrite everything? What then? It's not like Hikokubo is known for his consistency of effort. Anime aren't one-man projects in caseyou w
Episodes aren't aired immediately after being made. They are made well in advance. If Ono is sitting back and not actually overseeing the project then he's a hack. His hand is supposed to be in every pot to make sure everything is working properly. That's what a supervisor does. We just got info that the artists aren't even given proper material.
At the end of the day the GX characters are the only ones to never beat a named opponent, have the worst new cards, act the most out of character and 1 of them has never won.
>If Ono is sitting back and not actually overseeing the project then he's a hack.
He's a hack, but a lazy and neglectful one, not an energetically malicious one. That's what I've been saying the entire time you dingus.
For all we know, Kamishiro is the one who doesn't like GX and found them to be the most convenient jobbers to job.
>and not actually overseeing the project
He actually wasn't for a while, back when Symphogear GX was in production. It's not out of the realm of possibility that an anime director can handle 2 shows at the same time, but I doubt it isn't almost impossible with how hectic just one production can be.
If he really valued Arc-V that much, he would've passed Symphogear to some other guy out of conflict of scheduling
>He's a writer who does what the director says.
How do you know he has no influence over what happens, though? It's not unheard of at all, and some series composers even get a little celeb status in the industry. Arc-V's overall style of handling characters, during good and bad times, is still noticeably different from how Yoshida + Ono did back in 5D's.
>At the end of the day the GX characters are the only ones to never beat a named opponent, have the worst new cards, act the most out of character and 1 of them has never won.
But what makes any of that malice over simply liking less or caring the least about them? I don't like instant coffee, but I don't hate it
Character assassination. Making characters act in ways that they'd never act in previous iterations. Hibiki's character was murdered by GX. It has nothing to do with laziness and everything to do with not understand the character.
You don't sell instant coffee and aren't in charge of a project that promotes all types of coffee but choose to treat instant coffee worse than the others. Making the characters losers is malice. It's not just caring about them the least. Caring about them the least would be not using them at all. Not continually beating on one and making the other into a running joke for a villain to bring up.
Characters kind of have to fight in a shounen though, and some are inevitably chosen to throw at an antagonist to boost his threat level, especially if they're conveniently in the vicinity and the writers are just winging it as they go along. I would argue actual malice is giving almost 0 screentime or duels in the first place with absolutely no opportunities to do anything remotely morally right despite their status as duelists.
Good question. I expected him to show up in Academia as either an obstacle to be overcome (Yuya would have lost to him had Sergey not come in, a rematch was in order) or a potential ally that helps the good guys out of disgust after seeing Serena be brainwashed.
Edo was an antagonist and got boded by everyone he dueled. He wasn't conveniently in the vicinity. He was brought from Xyz to Fusion to lose. I'd rather a character get zero screen time than get destroyed and embarrassed at every turn. You can't say not getting screen time is malice because most of the early characters aren't getting screen time. Malice is going out of your way to make a character lose at every opportunity even when it isn't called for. It wasn't called for Edo to interfere with Yuri and Yugo. It was actually detrimental. Edo didn't need to lose to Yusho in that flashback. Edo didn't need to lose to Yuya and tie with him. He could have won one of those duels to make him more threatening. Or even beat any one of Sawatari, Gon, Allen or Sayaka. He could have even been shown carding fodder during his search for Yusho. Even the Tyler Twins got 2 wins in their debut. Kaito had no reason dueling Dennis. Asuka had been traveling with Yusho for months so it'd make far more sense for her to do it. But the GX characters are the only cameo characters in the whole show to never beat named characters.
>Hell, I'd actually rank Zexal above 5D's
This is why Zarc and Ray look so horrible and boring
>Pirate ship filler
>Sun and Moon Guardian filler
>Battle Beast filler
>Girls being brainwashed filler
116-125. 10 episodes wasted, which can be entirely summed up as "we got on a boat, arrived at Academia and confronted Leo".
They could have ended the Supreme King Zarc stuff by now, and finished off the series with 10 episodes of redeemed Zarc or duel school Yuya/Yuzu Slice-of-Life. Not to mention some scenes with Rin and Ruri who have basically never been in the show.
I kind of want to write fanfiction, since I'm not happy with how they handled the legacy characters in arc-v. But I'm not sure whats a good way to explain characters from DM to Arc-v existing in the same world, no dimensional shenanigans. Was inspired by various tagforce videos with characters from various franchises dueling each other.
Thanks, that means a lot to me, I just need a good idea for how all these characters can exist in the same world and then I can get started. I was thinking its an alternate world, but characters can referance stuff that happened to them in either the anime or manga.
He may not hate GX but he likes 5Ds too much.
I think he hates ZEXAL more for succeeding where he failed, thus the destruction of Heartland, the mishandling of Xyz users (like Hokuto's "death") and the short run of the Xyz Arc, especially in comparison to the Arc that went before it.
Shooting Star was foreshadowed for that long because it had a year of fillers to stew through between Bruno introducing Accel Synchro and Yusei achieving it. If you're including manga stuffs Stardust has nearly as many forms as Hope.
Original, Shooting Star, Savior Star, Shooting Quasar, Cosmic Blazar, Manga Stardust, Assault Mode, Manga Shooting Star, Manga Quasar. Arguably Stardust Warrior. That's 10, 2 less than Hope (12, which include stuffs like Anti-Hope and Hope Dragun which isn't really related). 5Ds also has the stretch of fillers where nothing relevant happened for an entire season, and the first half of Dark Signer was spent introducing new Warrior synchro, while Zexal stuck to Hope for the entire series.
Will Yuto have competition now that Shun probably knows Ruri isn't his sister?
>Pirate ship filler
Hey, I liked that one. It was Sora's return and Sora makes everything better in ARC-V. Maybe not essentially but entertaining nonetheless.
SEE?! Sora is far more entertaining than that abomination formrrly known as Yuya.
GX's first half was fine, the second half got fucked by KingRecord shilling and Kaneko writing daddy issues to please Nana's own (random Tsubasa subplot) complex regarding her father dying before she made it to Budokan. Every Symphogear series has had issues with writing, even S1, the show tries to fit too much into 13 episodes when the content could've filled 2 cour easily.
You know, for a second I thought you were talking about YGO.
Still not over those Symphogear copycats for ripping off. But I do wonder, are there fanart of Symphogear and Yugioh characters because of this? And I don't mean with 5Ds.
There weren't any posted when I was actively following the threads on /m/ while GX was airing, mostly Kamen Rider and Gundam stuffs, but that may be because its /m/ and people look for relevant stuffs.
not the other anon but,
>99 hopu dragon
that's 13 hopus
>which includes stuffs like Anti-hope and Hope Dragun which isn't really related
You can't say that 2 hope monsters that are summoned in the show aren't "really related", and then include Stardust warrior, an IRL card only that isn't an upgade of stardust, that'd be like counting stardust charge/assault warrior
I'm back; caught up with the latest episodes. What the hell is happening with the show?
Why is Zarc a gray shitty Yuya and not a psycho cowboy?
Where is Ray?
Why are they wasting time in having the scrub squad get rekt by Zarc?
How the fuck are they going to print Zarc without breaking the fucking game in so many ways?
I still don't get why is Reira a psychic.
Am I autistic or if you just run effect negation, you can beat Zarc?
>Why is Zarc a gray shitty Yuya and not a psycho cowboy?
Because the animators are literally tweeting about not having reference sheets for him, despite the fact that tweeting about this is would/will result in a PR disaster and would/will result in someone somewhere committing sudoku. Also because they still need Yuya's face to be on the show because he's the MC.
>Where is Ray?
Dunno lol. She was supposed to be revived by that machine, but Leo got impatient and fed the girls in too early so now it has Ruri indigestion.
>Why are they wasting time in having the scrub squad get rekt by Zarc?
Because we still have until next year. The next series doesn't start til April.
>How the fuck are they going to print Zarc without breaking the fucking game in so many ways?
Either way, they're printing it. As for the game being broken, I have terrible news.
>I still don't get why is Reira a psychic.
Let's leave that aside for now.
>Am I autistic or if you just run effect negation, you can beat Zarc?
Fuck off, your shitty fusion mechanic gets treated like royalty irl while konami takes every possible chance to shit on the synchro mechanic. Ono has a right to take shots at the show who destroyed his show's mechanic's relevance.
>Why is Zarc a gray shitty Yuya and not a psycho cowboy?
>Where is Ray?
>Why are they wasting time in having the scrub squad get rekt by Zarc?
See >>151500081 and >>151508261 for what could be the reason for all three.
>How the fuck are they going to print Zarc without breaking the fucking game in so many ways?
IRL Zarc is merely a Fusion Pendulum and has different effects from the anime, like most of the anime cards seem to be typically nowadays. http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Supreme_King_Dragon_Zarc
>I still don't get why is Reira a psychic.
Reira's a human Espurr. But seriously, that's another thing that we don't know and haven't been fully revealed yet when it should've been around 10 episodes ago or even further back than that.
I thought that the nips had a better work ethic than that. I expect this sort of bullshit from 4kids, but they are literally saying "fuck it" to arc-v just to shill Tony Hawk pro card games. Really sad.
Lmao I read that as "4chan kids"
Silly memeing buzzword anons, in this case they are figuratively saying "fuck it" to Arc-V, not literally
Your flavor of the month "effect" does not suffice
>The Westermarck effect, or reverse sexual imprinting, is a hypothetical psychological effect through which people who live in close domestic proximity during the first few years of their lives become desensitized to sexual attraction.
And you'd be fucking cheering if 5Ds and zexal's place in the narrative were switched. It's all just bias over your favorites not being given as much screentime as your least favorite.
It wasn't vindictive, it was strategic. The destruction of Heartland would hit the hardest and get the audience the most invested because we just came off of ZEXAL. If anything, it was a very tactful sort of thing.
>Kaito looks pretty similar to Paradox, to the point of fans referring to him as 'Kid Paradox'.
>His Photon Mode also makes him look like Jack Atlas of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and when he summons Neo Galaxy-Eyes he calls it "my very soul", just like what Jack does when he summons Red Dragon Archfiend. He also called Galaxy-Eyes "my soul."
>Also, his ability to change his clothes to white and apparently duel without a D-Gazer is called Duel Mode Photon Change. Is Kaito a displaced 5D's character missing a D-Wheel?
>Well, Orbital 7 CAN become a motorcycle...
>Kaito looks pretty similar to Paradox, to the point of fans referring to him as 'Kid Paradox'.
I've never heard anyone do this anywhere.
Okay, sure. But Kaiba also does this in tag force special, if I recall correctly. So it's just something guys in white with dragons say. And it's pretty cool too.
>>Also, his ability to change his clothes to white and apparently duel without a D-Gazer is called Duel Mode Photon Change. Is Kaito a displaced 5D's character missing a D-Wheel?
No, he's not. You're just dumb.
>Well Orbital 7 can become a motorcycle
Shark has a motorcycle too. What you're looking for isn't there and I think your stupidity is gross.
>I've never heard anyone do this anywhere.
Well, he does look like Paradox.
>Okay, sure. But Kaiba also does this in tag force special, if I recall correctly. So it's just something guys in white with dragons say. And it's pretty cool too.
But that doesn't mean that Kaito didn't copy it.
>No, he's not. You're just dumb.
I was quoting from elsewhere. But you didn't even deny that his Duel Mode is similar to the one in 5Ds, so you have no argument.
>Shark has a motorcycle too. What you're looking for isn't there and I think your stupidity is gross.
I said that he was the most 5Ds-edque and you only refuted correctly one of my statements so you lost your argument.
And btw, the creators commented that Shark's method of transportation just looks like a bike but isn't one because he is too young to drive.
Why does it have to be so small? Is there anything wrong with giving Yuya one the size they usually give Shingo's?
>his Duel Mode is similar to the one in 5Ds
The only thing in 5D's that has anything to do with a "duel mode" is that the phrase is used by D-Wheels. That's it. There is nothing that Kaito's Photon Change could even be similar to.
Fuck you then Yuya! I don't need you!
You know it's bad when not only production have issues with how the show is going, Ebina completely done with it 3 months before the show ends, as well as the fact that they waste most time and money on VA for characters that should have been important with the plot but barely get to do a damn thing and easily shafted for the laziest reasons.
>Ebina completely done with it 3 months before the show ends
Isn't that normal? I wouldn't know where to actually look it up, but he supposedly went from Zexal to Arc-V around the same time.
Whenever I'm feeling down because of the contents of an episode all I have to see is see Yugo idiot smile to feel better. The ED isn't even out of place on purpose to be edgy like in some late-night animes.
I take just a few short weeks off of Arc-V for the holidays with Yuya shellshocked by losing Tou-san but still pretty much in control.
But then when I get come back he's gone FULL HITOSTU NI.
DAMN IT TO HELL..
They spelled out exactly why that happened to.
>Yuya! focus on just winning at this moment!
>I won....because I only thought about winning....I won....JUST AS YOU ALL WISHED! AND WE'LL KEEP ON WINNING UNTIL WE DESTROY THIS WORLD! AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
Nice fucking job, Reji
If you think about it, everything that ever went wrong in the entire series is the Akabas' fault.
5DS flopped in Japan but was successful in the West.
Zexal was successful in Japan but flopped in the West.
Does this mean that Western kids like series with fewer boss monsters or are there other factors in play ?
To be fair 'card games on motorcycles' was a silly concept that was executed much better than anyone could have thought possible.
Define meme.It all depends on your taste. I think Arc V is decent, could have been much better but is not as bad as /a/ claims.
For me the series from best to worst are:
5Ds(I enjoyed the whole series)
GX season 1 and 2
GX 3 and 4
5D's had good ratings. ZeXal broke records. Arc V also broke records in the opposite direction.
So you're wrong about the flopping. 5D's was popular in English because older and younger fans were drawn for the same reason: a mature story. For the card games the Synchro Era basically opened up a new Golden Age where tournament attendance, after years of decline, spiked to all-time highs.
Nobody over the age of 10 could stand ZeXal because it was too kiddie and had no connection to the older series. On the card game side XYZ monsters were also seen as the beginning of the game's decline. It doesn't deserve being shitted on by the West like it does, but it's plain to see why it wasn't popular.
"meme" because I see nothing but hatred for Arc V, citing the Japanese ratings as evidence. As a former TCG player I am intimately aware of how Japanese opinion is often used as an authority when it's more often not applicable to English countries.
Arc V started out promising, and reading the spoilers the big reveals are also promising. We had cameos from Asuka and Jack/Crow. Heartland got fucking nuked. If you hated ZeXal, but loved everything before it, it seems like a dream come true. Yuya having personality problems seemed to be a good foundation for solid development potential.
I want to know how that ended up.
>He asks for an objective analysis.
"It all depends on your tastes dude."
Yeah. I'm writing something on it from start to finish that I can't post here due to text limitations, but it is a poor show. Yeah, it's true that it's fun to hate Arc-V, sometimes, but you've got to think about it.
"If it's so bad it's fun to shit on it, doesn't that mean there was something really wrong in the first place?"
The series was never going to turn out the way some of the fans wanted it to early on, just by virtue of being a Yu-Gi-Oh, and just by virtue of some of the ideas people had for the series being retarded. As a matter of fact, Arc-V almost exactly went in the direction I thought it would in terms of plot progression. But the events in question are very poorly thought out and poorly presented. The Synchro arc was a lackluster narrative in which they accomplished little to nothing. They acquired Jack and Crow as allies, yes, but honestly, people could give less of a fuck about them. They're empty, hollow shells of what they used to be. They could have had their characters totally revamped. Instead they just feel like cardboard cut outs.
The same goes for Edo, who honestly should have and would have benefited from a complete and total overhaul. It's not like dedication to his craft and loyalty to his comrades would have been out of place for him, either. It's not just my personal desires at stake here, Edo, by all accounts, should have been much more reluctant to accept Yuya and Yushou Sakaki's point of view. And even when he did, he still shouldn't have betrayed the Fusion Dimension, and if he did, it should have been a big deal. Everything that has to do with the Xyz Dimension's arc does nothing but tear down Academia as antagonists. Its weird and out of place with how they were presented in the flashbacks. ZEXAL, 5Ds, and GX would have all handled them much more tactfully.
>be playing stratagy game
>Got a 1% crit that wasn't necacery
>"shit i gotta roll"
>decide to roll once in each gacha
>got Gorgon Medusa on my first roll with golden balls.
Holy shit. i've never seen Golden balls before
Konami didn't invest much into its R&D department prior to the release of Gladiator Beasts. Previously, they'd just adapt anime cards (invented by the writers) and throw shit into the game, not really caring about the meta or anything.
By the XYZ Era, that R&D department had a good grasp of the game's meta and how to control it. Not releasing anymore Synchro Support and trying to bury Synchro was a marketing ploy, and a deeply unpopular one given how much rejuvenation Synchros had injected into the fanbase.
But there wasn't much to be done. 5D's was intended to last several years longer than it did, but the cult controversy forced the production team to wind down the series.
That;s what you get for playing a dumb game, next time just pet one of these cuties.
I'm still pissed at how Ono made it seem like XYZ arc would be hotshit such as Yuya meeting his counterparts, a person that wasn't going to be forgiven and duellists getting OTK'd left and right. Such a shame they abandoned those plans.
Continuing from >>151529223
See the thing that makes Arc-V so off putting is that it's not just a bad show, it's a bad Yu-Gi-Oh!. Because of the precedents set before by every other series including ZEXAL, you can't even use the "it's just a kid's show" excuse to dismiss Arc-Vs failings. Because every show referenced in Arc-V would have and could have handled the events of the series much better.
By the time we reached the Xyz arc, the characters had lost every semblance of humanity that made them endearing in the first place, and really, the Xyz arc is when that humanity should have mattered the most. Because visiting Heartland and confronting Academia is something that was built up to from the very beginning of the show.
Thanks for this, it's what I'm looking for even if I'm not happy to read it.
You can't fault the fans for having high expectations out of the early goings, though. 5D's had a stupid sounding concept that ended up turning the whole franchise around. There was always going to be hope lighting strikes twice.
I never liked Zexal. It got better as it went along but it just never appealed to me.
I know that /a/ loves season 3 and 4 of GX but the tone shift felt really forced. The only thing that happened in those seasons that didn't come out of nowhere and might make sense was Nightshroud/Trueman/Darkness.
It didn't, though. It felt gradual and sort of appropriate. It's not like it just hit us in the hammer with sudden edge. The tone shift was consequence of things that had been happening continuing to snow ball.
GX was an experimental anime, it was the first anime to basically be filler, so the writers basically pulled plot lines from classic anime stories in the past. There's a lot of Mazinger, Dragonball, Brave, City Hunter, Dragon Quest, Kamen Rider and Cyborg 009 in GX, all fitting for writers who grew up in the 80's-90's.
Studio Gallop is less conservative about Yu-Gi-Oh! than GAME FREAK is with Pokemon, but they really need to go out of the box to resurrect the franchise following Arc-V's failings, and I don't think series 6 is going to do it.
The silver bullet is animating Duel Terminal and removing the school/card game aspect entirely. I wish they'd go for it. At least drop an OVA test or something.
I still have to play Fate/GO when it will come here
(I just hope I don't get Gilgamesh, I can't stand him. EMIYA, Tamamo, Nitocris, Cu Chulain, Medusa, Jean, Rin (Ishtar), Heracles are few of the servants I want)
I played Blazblue RR and its absolutely fun. And of course Ragna is my big main.
Now I wish for something with mechanics similar to this two games at least with Yugioh.... With a lot of fanservice in the sense of Monsters other than DM ones. Can you imagine it?
>Northwemko with voice, animation and attack names
But Konami will never do this...
Is DT popular in Japan? The lore. Because if it is, they should at least try it
They need an ever expansive setting, like pokemon, to continually drag on the fans and get new ones without having to worry too much about the baggage.
But how do you do that with Yugioh?
The point of it all is to sell the cards, and the game is constantly affected by the mechanics, creating more and more complicated ways of playing the game, and that is what is unappealing, specially for kids.
Pokemon has a card game, but the anime is nothing like it - it's closer to the video game mechanics. The card game still sells well in spite of the anime basically being an instructional tool on how to play the video games.
How I see it, completely going into a pure fantasy setting unrestricts the writers from needing to portray the game mechanics. And you can finally see events from the card game lore animated, like the death of Ally of Justice Catastor or Sophia casting End of Evangelion.

Having a spirit companion must be annoying as hell. You never get privacy in the bathroom or when you want to fap. Will Yusaku have one too?
It's always funny that they chose Destiny Heroes of all decks to give unfitting fusion support that has almost nothing to do with the original and paired it with one of the worst fusion spell/traps ever printed.
I know that it came out of nowhere. My problem is that a lot of people ignore this and say Season 3 and 4 of GX are good because they are 'dark, mature ,made Judai/Jaden grow up and are a deconstruction'.
I know season 1 and 2 of GX get criticized because they were silly but the story made a little bit of sense and the characters were likeable.
People don't ignore it. People often separate GX into 2 halves. No one says it's good because it's "dark and mature". I've never heard anyone call GX a deconstruction. That's Arc-V fans. People say GX is good after season 1 because it becomes a more cohesive show. It has a plot in mind, introduces the characters needed for that plot, develops them and executes the plot. Season 1 was mostly character of the day which is fine for developing the main cast but it has no bite to it until the Seven Stars show up. A lot of stuff comes out of nowhere in shonen. The Saiyans came out of nowhere. Everything after the Dark Signer arc came out of nowhere too. That's how shows that are written from arc to arc are.
I've seen people on /a/ and other sites call GX a deconstruction.
I have never heard anyone call Arc V a deconstruction.
Did Yliaster really come out of nowhere in 5D?It was implied that the guy who made Rudger cause the Zero Reverse was from Yliaster(Placido).
Did you have a tanoshii Christmas /a/rc-v?
Get any new packs?
From a fan-based viewpoint it probably will in hindsight a few years from now. However, from a production standpoint it, like ZEXAL, was always intended to be a single contiguous story-line from episode 1 onward which GX & 5D's hadn't planned for. Even DM took breaks from the canon story-line with fully self-contained filler arcs.
However unlike ZEXAL which was divided into clean halves of I (Beginning to Dr. Faker) & II (Barian Invasion), ARC-V never had an official split.
Unlike GX all the stuff that is happening now was hinted throughout the series.
GX just randomly went dark and made a filler villain into an Eldtrich Abomination/final boss. Its possible that Nightshroud was intended to be final boss from the start but I really doubt it.
Haou was hinted through Aqua Dolphin's speech in Season 2.
Daitokuchi also alludes to it. I don't have the exact words on how but it's something about how he was able to defeat him and the other villains at that poing.
Yubel was somewhat alluded to by Judai's horror story in Season 1 about how he always heard spirits since he was child. And no more, which disappointed Sho (Jud
