One of the main reasons I dropped it and never bothered finishing it. Mainly because by the time I started to watch it, I had already beaten the game was happy with the romance between Welkin and Alicia throughout the game ending with them getting married and having a daughter. Then the anime comes along and has Alicia lusting after Faldio's cock every other episode despite the only guy she was ever interested in the game was Welkin.

Shit just left a bad taste in my mouth.

For being a side character, I really loved Rosie's character arc, how she starts being racist and then fighting alongside darcsens she slowly begins to let go of it until we get to Liara's death where she's straight-up distraught by it.

Well dont forget the anime killed off Mussad, Nils, Wendy, Rosina, Knute, Salinas and others.

Lynn (arguably one of the best in game and actually had potential for story in the anime) only showed the back of her head in the credits

BUT. The anime did justice addressing Isara's death properly and Welkin's grief (maybe cliche) was heartbreaking when he finally cried in pain.

The game just fast forward it.

Honestly the biggest mistake any Japanese company can make yet keeps on making is inviting A-1/Aniplex into a franchise and like a business venture equivalent of doing Crystal Meth for the first time. Yeah the short term profit margin gains from their advertising and brainwashing might seem worth it and give you the buzz of a life time, but once they get in or your hit franchise and get say in it they're never letting go until they've twisted into their own image to pander hardcore to otaku/fujos and sucked every possible former merit it had and every possible cent out of the franchise and away from your companies bank account and into yours that they can before they move on leaving your company and property a dried up husk and shell of it's former glory. It's just not worth it in the long run.

IMO Azure Revolution is the only call for the Valkyria Franchise. If it isn't meant to be it isn't meant to be but a reboot is the only real way to get away from the A-1 otakuness that VC2 enforced upon the franchise that basically killed it dead in the West.
