Memes aside, Speedwagon is honestly a great take on the "powerless sidekick" character archetype, one I think more series should try to base themselves on.
He's useless as a fighter, but not only does he acknowledge said uselessness, he tries as hard as he can to not be useless. He holds off zombies despite being uncapable of killing them. He tries to rush for Jonathan's help at the castle and crush Dio's arm. He heats up Zeppeli's arm, and other things.
Not only that, he's not just comic relief, it's established multiple times within the narrative that, on all acounts, Speedwagon is a great man. He's traveled the world, he is a respected figure in Ogre Street, he is the only one who calls out Dio in his bullshit, he takes care of Erina after Jonathan is dead. He's funny but he is not a joke, he's just ill-suited for the Ripple and vampire madness.
Remember: he is the one who shoots Dio as a vampire when Jonathan's resolve faltered. It didn't do much, but that scene alone tells you a lot about what kind of spirit he has.

Speedwagon is the ultimate bro and a pretty great character besides his legacy being a plot device.

Does part 5 have some of the worst character-designs in the series? For the mains, at least. I'm not even necessarily talking about ugly designs, but ones that are too similar to others.

The part 5 character designs clash with everything under the sun. They're so fucking repulsive that they somehow loop around and become hugely enjoyable. Mista and Doppio are probably the two funniest ones. They look like they had their moms try and dress them up like gay rodeo clowns.

I ended up really liked Bruno and Mista's look by the end of the part, but I think it was because I started to associate their outfits with amazing stand fights.

Not really, it's more like Hamon is simply one of the many ways to obtain a Stand, which among other things can be achieved by being stabbed with a meteorite or literally just developing it as you age... Plus lots of Stand Abilities don't fall under Hamon's purview, especially the more cosmic stuff.

I hear what you're saying and I largely agree, but too many of them just look too similar to each other. When I was reading the Man In the Mirror fight I realized I was being confused by how similar Giorno and Fugo look, you'd never get an issue like that in Stone Ocean or DIU or whatever.

Dunno about Doppio though, he's actually one of the few that strikes me as really effective and simple. Aside from the boob-window (and nearly everyone in 5 has one so it's forgivable) he's completely normal.

Rank individual episodes of the series. I rate based on how pumped the episode gets me and how much fun it is, pretty simple. My tastes are probably normiecore but whatever

Defining moment for Kira as well as Koichi. I was jumping up from my seat hyped as fuck when Koichi lays it onto Kira followed by Jotaro beating him down to the SC theme song.

>3) DIO's World (Part 2)
Best final fight in the series. I really liked the entire arc because every Crusader still alive at that point played an important role in taking down DIO and had their individual bout with him. It's probably my favorite final fight in shonen anime overall, had the right mix of tactics and power levels.

Oh boy, finished reading PHF last night. That was quite something, I really liked it (though constant callbacks and winks to older parts got a bit old, but I didn't mind). I also loved the way Giorno was presented, I finally understood that awe that others felt towards him in Part 5.
But I'm not sure I understood Purple Haze evolution correctly - so now his virus destroys itself if it's released in large quantity, or it is something else?

>1. The Miasma of the Void, Vanilla Ice, Part 2
I'm a huge Polnareffag and they managed to make this fight even better than the manga's. The tenseness and horror and seeing Polnareff and Iggy finally working together was great, and the emotional punch of seeing Polnareff apparently 'die' brought me to tears even though I knew he was just fine. It also had really stunning animation and music.

>2. Goodbye, Morioh - The Heart of Gold
It gave a great and brutal end to Kira twice over, and wrapped up all the other characters really well too. The extra stuff (like Okuyasu's dad eating at Tonio's) was a wonderful touch, it made me feel both happier and sadder than any of the other endings.

>3. Young Caesar
Although Caesar is unquestionably a flawed character, this was a great episode. It gave him the first bit of depth he had with his backstory, and had a great fight between him and Wamuu that demonstrated their power and skill. The aftermath of it was really touching too, seeing Wamuu being gentle and respectful to a defeated foe without being at all sentimental or condescending. And it was great and heartbreaking seeing how Lisa Lisa and Joseph broke down over it, too.

>4. Sheer Heart Attack, Part 2
It was really great seeing what a badass Koichi had become, as well as being great for Jotaro and Kira himself. Good shit all round.


>5. The Nijimura Brothers, Part 3
Really touching episode, it's what really sold me on DIU's anime. It made the plight of the Nijimura's seem much deeper and more horrific than the manga did, as well as did a great job of demonstrating Josuke's compassion and making Keicho sympathetic without making you feel like he didn't deserve his death. And that bit at the end where Okuyasu visits Josuke was great too, the lack of it in the manga really made their friendship seem out of the blue.

The strength of the virus scales with his anger, so if he loses his shit again the virus is so strong it attacks other viral cells rendering it useless. It's a downgrade strength wise but it means he can only use it effectively when he's in control which is what Giorno wanted because he was scared of Fugo's anger keeping PH around after death like Carne's anger kept his Stand around. He can only use his power when he's calm which helps him grow as a person. It's a paradoxical evolution but mirrors how Fugo had to become weaker to become a stronger person, and he has far more use out of his neutered Stand than he ever got out of his full power one.

Shizuka had no more sapience than any other baby. I'm guessing Mannish boy was a special case, since some stand-users (like Kakyoin, Polnareff, Avdol and so on) have had theirs since birth but presumably weren't hyper-advanced as infants.
