When's the stream again?SNW thread?
Pretty sure its on the 3rd, I might be wrong though
First Saturday of the year. 7th of January for 2017.
Pissing episode
>>151447187
not that kind of stream
>>151445976
I recently watched it, it was magnificient! 9/10
The OST is amazing too
When does the stream usually ends? Every year I only make it to the piss/flood episode before getting tired.
Also,Takemikazuchibest girl.
Why would anyone watch this garbage?
>>151449709
Yeah, it was kinda silly in that regard. How about Kanata bringing over a recipe for miso soup? Miyafuji did the same thing in Strike Witches, although she was actually from Japan while Kanata is supposedly not actually from Japan, just some small town.
I really do like the asymmetrical hairstyle Kanata had, I wish that would get popular.

I think there were a couple breaks after the halfway point. It's hard to remember because of how drunk I was, but we started around 15:00 where I live and were done maybe before 21:00?

The cutest!

Extremely.
I've only watched last years, but I've been looking forward to it more than any other holiday.
Just make sure your Calvados is ready.
>>151451443
yep. fun times with good people.
>>151445976
Never watched this show, but if /a/ is streaming it that would be a perfect excuse.
>>151451656
yeah, it's good because even though it's a linear story mixed with slice-of-life elements, it's not really spoiler-sensitive so you can enjoy it without much worry.
Is anyone planning a trip to Cuenca in 2017?
>>151451773

Hipsters
>>151452065
Even on /a/ it's pretty niche.
>>151445976
Only got into SNW this last year after stumbling across it so this will be my first year watching the stream. Does it generally go without breaks or will I get a chance to have a piss halfway through?
>>151452065
Two reasons:
1. Poor marketing: to an outsider it looks like a shitty K-On! knock-off. The show wasn't a big success originally for a similar reason.
2. Anecdotally I've noticed depressed/lonely anons enjoy the show a lot more. I suspect the message of hope and shit despite the end of the fucking world speaks to them more. /a/ has a pretty high proportion of such people.
>>151453554
>it looks like a shitty K-On! knock-off.
That, and 2010 did have shows which overshadowed it.
>>151453554
>>151454474
Anime no Chikara was a flop all-around, seems like SnW is the only one people remember and yet S2 about world exploring never. ;_;
Was it poor marketing or were Occult Academy and Night Raid that shitty?
>>151453499
The tradition is that you don't piss until the end of the credits of the Piss episode. Hilarity ensues as anons misjudge their capacity.I'll stick to straight Calvados until after the first break so I don't have to hold much in, mixing it with tea after that point.
This is a soldier.
>>151454750
Show me her war face.
>>151454691
You could just do what Kanata should have done and piss in a bottle.
>>151454474
Funny thing is that Tsumugi/Filicia character is the only one that actually fits. The rest doesn't even look alike.
I have a omorashi/desperation fetish thanks to this anime.
And god knows how the material is hard to find.
>>151454750
soldiers clean up nice and have good posture, anon. grils can be soldiers too.
>>151454474
>>151453554
I really wish they didn't try so hard to ape K-On's style.
>>151455393
If only they'd stuck closer to the Kishida Mel designs.
>>151455681
this color style would have looked great, at least. kind of closer to what A-1 did in Grimgar.
>>151455681
I honestly never cared much for those drawings. It's hard to quantify but they're too western-looking, I think; not to sound like a grorious nippon purist but they remind of the pictures that high school girls who are into anime draw.
I understand that the 2010-moeblob style isn't exactly the pinnacle of uniqueness but the reason people copied it is because it worked.
>>151455942
Seeing in them the artbook along with descriptions, other images, and the texture of the paper in the scans makes them look a lot better imo.
>>151455681
Those are the designs they used, though. Different art style but same design.

Imagine being in actual combat and running across this girl. You'd probably get her to surrender immediately, but you could shoot her if you wanted. Maybe shoot her in the lower leg or foot so she drops, then tie her up and gag her so her friends don't come looking for her. Then again, if you let her scream she might lure her comrades over and you can take care of them. Either way, she's going back with your squad. You'll tie her to a post on the outskirts of camp, making sure to bandage her up and display her properly. I wonder how much information you'd be able to get out of her over the next few days? Probably a lot, she seems like the type that will sing like a bird.
After a few days when she's half delirious from not having any water things get interesting. Would you take her down and let her drink? Just leave her to rot? If you take her down you can prolong everything, though there is a small chance she might escape. If you haven't taken care of her friends, you'll need to be on the lookout for them. Remember, above all else, the Roman army forbids the rape of enemy combatants, as well as cruel and unusual torture.

>>151458078
Does it really start at 8pm utc? I live on the west coast of the US so that'd be noon for me. Seems kinda early for drinks for most people considering the evening times are mostly in the middle of the Atlantic while the stream is going.

I want to commit a war crime!
See you fags on the 7th
>>151458725
Ah, well, you will have to kill her if you do anon, so be ready for that.
The best way to go about it would be at night when you have watch. Pay off your partner (or maybe let him/her in on the action if they're up for that, but money is usually a better way to guarantee some alone time) and then you'll have a few hours with her. Remember to bring a small knife, this will be important later.
Anyway, after the deed, cut her loose. This sounds counter intuitive, but this is very crucial. You need to make sure you use the knife you brought, and then hand it to her and tell her to run. Hopefully she does as you ask, at which point you'll need to wait a minute or two and then go hunt her down. She won't have gotten very far as she's probably really weak and injured, so it won't be difficult. Once you've found her, yell "STOP!" a few times, but no matter what you need to kill her now. The yelling is just to make sure your COs hear you and thus will believe you.
Once she's dead, you'll be taken in for questioning. However, they'll let you off that night after considering the evidence. She had a knife, escaped, and you stopped her from getting away. You might even get a medal for your actions that night.
>>151459166
You better cover your tracks on sourcing the knife. Also, involving someone else by paying them off is a great way to get yourself turned in after the amount you paid doesn't override a guilty conscience or whatever.

This makes we want to protect her more.
>>151459678
>tfw no cute POW to smuggle extra rations to
>>151459340
Eh, you could explain away the knife relatively easily. If it's your knife, say she must've stolen it while you were interogating her. Or it could just be a little kitchen knife you picked up last time you got a day off, and you could say she must've smugled it in somewhere on her body that wasn't searched well enough. So long as you're a loyal soldier i don't think the brass will really dig into that issue.
Hopefully the soldier you payed off hates the enemy as much as you do, in which case they wont give a rats ass that you popped her. If they're sympathetic at all you could be in some trouble. Ultimately just play your cards right and it'll be smooth sailing.
>>151459678
Okay anon, you're her battle buddy. She catches one in the shin on a patrol one day near enemy territory. You see an entire enemy platoon decending on your position and dont have enough ammo to hold them off. She's bleeding out, but probably won't die anytime soon. How do you proceed? She weighs about 40 kilos if she dumps most of her gear.
>>151455942
I kinda see what you mean, in fact it's a little hard to unsee it now, but >>151456336 has it right in my mind. I've always liked the delicate/surreal look of his stuff and how it feels just a little bit 'off' compared to most other artists.

40kg is a reasonable load, especially for a casualty. She'll be lighter than some stuff I've carried for longish periods. As long as she can hang onto her rifle, there won't be much of an issue.

> you're her battle buddy
1. radio in that we are going to have to dip out early on our mission, and will need an evac ASAP at the closest safe location
2. tourniquet her leg (taking note of the time, leaving a tourniquet on for longer than an hour can kill the leg), muffle her screams as I wipe alcohol into the wound and wrap it
3a. assuming that we were smart enough, we had already found the shortest way to leave, search for any cover near the route, and plan to take the best balance between a short/well covered route
3b. if we hadn't mapped out our route, say "fuck it" and try and eyeball the best possible route
4. drop my gear (aside from basic first aid, rifle, etc), and sling her vor my shoulders in a fireman's carry. also, considering that kanata is an active soldier and is probably around 5'4, she would probably weigh closer like 50-55kg, not 40, either way, it wouldn't be very hard to do unless it was an uphill climb, in which case, our situation would be pretty FUBAR, but still kinda doable if we weren't both killed
5. if I was able to bolt and get to cover in under an hour without being caught in a bad situation, I would try and keep moving, but stay under cover. when it has been an hour after I had applied the tourniquet--assuming that we aren't already dead/ in a position that would prevent me from doing anything but running with a little girl attached to my back--I would loosen the tourniquet, let her sit for around a minute and massage the area around the tourniquet to get a bit of her blood back into her leg so it didn't die, even if she looses a bit of blood in the process. reapply the tourniquet, keep moving until I get to the place where we would be rescued
in a position where we eventually got totally surrounded, the only thing to do would be to fight, making sure that she was dead (even if I had to kill her) before they got to capture her and kill me.
pretty interesting concept, thanks for the role play opportunity kek
>>151462985
Literally why would they do this?
>>151468901
It depends on the conflict and how you come across enemies I think. If you're scouting with a small group and sneak up on 1 or 2 guys, you would probably do better trying to capture them. If your platoon encounters a similarly sized enemy platoon, you start blasting and check for survivors after. Catching the enemy and bringing them back alive is much more valuable that just killing them, because soldiers can break and give up vital information if they believe it could save their lives.
I think a detriment of females on the front lines is that they would be more likely to surrender if overwhelmed, and they would be easier to interrogate. This is just conjecture, so maybe I'm wrong. Either way, Kureha is not a particularly threatening or intimidating soldier, so I don't think it's a stretch to say you'd try to capture her. At the same time, she is just a little girl with limited combat experience and training. I think she'd be scared if caught off guard by a group of guys aiming rifles at her. She wouldn't want to surrender, but I think she'd realize quickly that she has no chance against well trained, adult soldiers.
And I don't have anything against Kureha, I'm just setting out a scenario for what may happen in combat. At the end of the day, she's a soldier and has said numerous times she's willing to die in combat. Luckily she never got involved in any heavy fighting, but if you served with her you'd have to realize that every patrol she went out on could be her last. That smile she gave you ask she headed out might be the last image of her you ever see until they wheel her body in from the field.

>leaving a tourniquet on for longer than an hour can kill the leg
Actually, recent tourniquet usage in the Iraq/Afghan wars has shown that that is somewhat of a misconception, and now attitudes towards them are changing. There were 651 limbs tourniqueted in Iraq and not a single one was lost from Ischemia, and there's well documented cases of tourniquets staying in place ~8 hours without limb loss. If you lose a limb, it's likely from the traumatic injury and not from starving it of oxygen. Supposedly, any nerve damage is typically the result of the mechanical function of the tourniquet and not the much slower ischemia.
Also, there's some division on whether or not to loosen them, but a lot of people say to NEVER do it, since you can blow out the blood clots and release toxin build up if you do, increasing odds of shock for little benefit. It's probably better to let a surgeon do that.

>>151478877
So is there a canon backstory to just what happened or is it more speculation? It seems like nukes might have been used, since they talk about "no man's land" and don't seem to be able to move there. Although, in our universe, radiation will eventually clear our while in this universe they seem to make it seem like that land won't ever be clear again.
>>151481085
>radiation will eventually clear

>>151481085
Well there's a lot of glass craters around Cuenca, are there not? Seems to support nukes or high-powered weapons.
>>151480689
Shame. I'd kinda hoped to see it in person, but the anons who visited said it was almost completely gone now. The most I can do is remember that it was once there.
>>151481085
Mostly just speculah related to the massive bird skeleton and the wings reflected in the building's glass in Felicia's backstory episode. There's other little clues like radios not existing possibly indicating a fucked up Ionosphere (hence mail and landline phone for long distance communications, with trumpets used for signals during combat) and mentions of Noel having resurrected biological weapons used to commit atrocities, but nothing terribly concrete.
>>151481321
I can't explain the giant fossils, other than perhaps they are natural and just dinosaur fossils, which fit into the folklore which evolved to explain away some of the atrocities that occurred during the war. The bird that breathed fire could have been an airplane that performed firebombing runs, for example, but that's a shot in the dark.
It is odd that radios don't seem to exist, although even in that very advanced old world tank Noel is working on, it seems like it's standard to have a trumpet player (there's a hatch above her seat and all). The dead soldier in Filicia's flashback had a semi-auto rifle, which makes it seem like certain advances in technology did occur like in our universe.
>>151481534
I think the giant bird may have just been a subtle hint to the fact Cuenca and areas surrounding it are dinosaur country, remember all the archeology work they were doing? There's probably a lot more that we would miss if none of us lived in Cuenca.
