Considering Murakami's whole deal is that creepy-cute Superflat aesthetic, I'm not surprised they ended up looking like they did.

They're definitely cuter than some of the Friends from Jellyfish Eyes, much more like Kaikai and Kiki.

That OP and fake preview by Kobayashi look cool, despite the blatant derivative nature, but it just makes me want Kobayashi to direct a magical girl anime of his own (well, I guess he has done that, technically). Even if Murakami actually manages to properly complete 6HP, I can only see it coming out bizarre, but totally half-baked. Projects that take so long to see fruition and go through multiple forms in the mean time tend not to be worth the wait.
