Not that guy but I just rewatched season one and it definitely gave the impression she was striving to be special more than anything else.

There were a couple of scenes where Reina stuck up for him while others were shitting on him for his harsh technique, that only looks like she was thirsting for cock in hindsight. Later in the show there's a scene where Mamiko mentions to Kumiko that she heard Taki's a big fucking deal and Kumiko has flashbacks to scenes where Reina defended him, saying he's awesome, and Azusa mentioning that Reina denied an application to Rikka, and everything connects in her brain. The conclusion she came to is that Reina went to Kitauji to seek out Taki as a teacher so that she can get as special as possible.

And then the drama with Ribbons and Kaori happens and Reina confides in Kumiko that she's hungry for Taki's baton and it takes Kumiko by surprise.

Season two on the other hand, Reina's clearly drooling over his cock maybe half the time she appears. The impression she wants to become special practically evaporates.
