Not really. Every TV anime has lazy animation 90% of time. Criticizing KLK for being "lazy" never made sense because it put more thought into making those low quality scenes fun than other shows did.

You couldn't say that because the average scene in KLK obviously looks better than the average scene in almost any other TV anime. You have to really dig for ugly looking scenes like the one with Satsuki walking up the wall, but average scenes like those set at Mako's house or whatever are always fun in spite of "lazy animation", while the average scene in say OPM looks boring. Yet OPM is hailed as a pure sakuga gasm while KLK is memed as "lazy" all the time.

Winter 2017 looks like trash to be honest, First half of LWA may win sakuga of the season. Depending on how Maid Dragon turns out, it may be another Nichijou or it may be a simple AmaBuri in terms of production. There's also Tales of Zestiria the X2, but I don't think it will have that much sakuga, though if LWA and Maid Dragon turn out to be flops it might take the title by process of elimination.

I don't think any of these shows will have enough legs to be sakuga AOTY.

I want to be excited for this but it's difficult not to be apprehensive.

LWA's strongest aspect is the amount of work put into the animation in the OVAs, If it has more average animation, I'm not sure the cute characters is enough to keep it interesting.

They appear to have given themselves quite a head start, but I'm not confident they won't be crashing and burning by the end of the first cour. How rough might it get?

Having Hori as the lead animator is great, but he can't carry the production by himself, how fast can he work? How does he work under pressure?

I think the series will live or die by how much it can sustain the feeling of watching Yoshinari's characters come to life with his own particular sensibility. The first OVA had a near 100% rate of this and it was great. The show of course won't get even near that but it has to work it out somehow. I look forward to seeing Kai Ikarashi do some nice things, I love the stuff he posts on twitter and he's the most interesting young animator (from an aesthetic/taste standpoint) at Trigger I'd say.
