I was literally explaining this on the JoJo Fightcade just now

Part 4 is super boring because of the generic Highschool setting so I immediately skipped that and went right to 5, which is the farthest I'm at in the series. I'm watching the Part 4 anime since it's basically done and I do like a bit of it, I enjoy Koichi too but I still just fucking hate the setting.

P3 Will forever be everybody's number 1, this is just a fact.

P1 and P2 are also great simply because they started the series.

I think JoJo shines brightest in Parts 3 & 5, especially with 5's fights and stand confrontations. Part 5, to me, genuinely felt like every stand user was a killer (which they were all gangsters so it makes sense), but what I mean is that it really felt like every fight was a fight-or-die situation. Still can't get over the Gay Boyband look but that's Araki for ya and another reason to love him and his style. I honestly enjoyed Bruno more as a MC than I did Giorno desu, I also really enjoyed Diavolo's reveal on the island with the staircase. That moment where Bruno gets FUCKED reminds me of the part in P3 where the party gets into Dio's mansion in Egypt and their guide/enemy finds himself stuck in the coffin instead of Dio, finally realizing that Dio can stop time and everyone is just immediately like "OH FUCK THIS IS DEATH EVERYBODY GET THE FUCK OUT."

I seriously love every part, to be honest. Every part has something truly unique that stands out to me.

My favorite parts are 6 and 8, because of the mystery of part 8 and the everything of part 6. Part 6 had the worst JoBro, but the other supporting characters were great. I loved Emporio, Annasui and Weather Report. Also, it was nice how Araki managed to kill an overpowered character without something as broken as GER.

If I NEED to pick, parts 1 and 7 are the ones I like the least because of the small roster of supporting characters, but their main characters were really remarkable, so it's okay.

3 was the most fun to watch and I bet that part 5 will also be a blast, especially because part 5 fights are my favorites and Araki went HAM with the designs, not only of stands, but also the characters. Part 2 got me truly hooked in JoJo's, also Joseph is the coolest protagonist I've ever seen. Part 4 is just lovable, I think it's the most lighthearted one and has my favorite JoBro, Okuyasu.

Because it's about the direct line of the Joestars (Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro, Jolyne), even with visits to the peripheral members such as Giorno and Josuke.

It just so happens that the timing is such that characters from part 3 can return when they have a stake in the events.

For part 1, I think everyone knows. It's a standard battle shounen. It didn't do anything particularly notable besides Jojo's and Dio's youth and the ending. I don't dislike it or anything, though.

I read part 5 with the shitty scans. I'm sure that took away a lot of the personality of the characters. But that's not all. It's possibly the most repetitive part after 3, except it has none of the humor. Jojo's humor is a pretty big deal for me, as one might be able to tell from my favorites. So all that remained was a very standard MOTW formula. Part 4 broke up the pace by making arcs that didn't involve fights, and that's fantastic (part 4 has a very wide variety of experiences in general). I also didn't like most stands. I dislike overly complicated, awkward stands, and part 5 standardized them (there were a few before, too). I find that the most fun stands are the simple ones that get used in creative ways. Ironically, Sticky Fingers is just that and I love it.

Part 8 had a plot that went nowhere for most of it. It presented itself as a mystery so you'd expect it to be planned out from the start, but already some small inconsistencies make me wonder if that's really the case. After SBR's great improvment's on narrative, JJL is disappointing a bit. Araki's art is in a weird state right now. Sameface, not very expressive faces, his hands and feet keep getting worse, and anatomy in general is getting worse. And again, it is repetitive. You'd expect the SBR-verse equivalent of part 4 to be more light-hearted and varied, but it's still tense fight after tense fight. That really dillutes the characters' personalities. Stand powers are still overly complicated. When you have complicated stands, victories don't feel clever or creative. I do like that there's very clear theming on this one, though. It's all about family, romance (and sex).

Like I said several years ago when also talking about part 5. Even the worst of Jojo is still some of the best manga ever.

All parts have them, and it's always bad. Part 4 also had a few, like Enigma. I particularly disliked Grateful Dead. Not because it was difficult to understand or anything, but because it had a built-in weakness that felt shoehorned. This may sound hypocritical, but Sheer Heart Attack has a built-in weakness that makes sense. It's even worse when they're not really fit for battle, but used for it anyway. And when you get a stand that can't really participate in fights in the main party, and the part is all fights, then it's like it's not there at all. Case in point, Moody Blues and Purple Haze. I wish I could give more examples of enemy stands, but I honestly forgot a bunch of them by now.
