It's exceptionally poorly animated for a Sunrise series and obviously something went wrong at the sub-studio that animated it and Valvrave as it closed down immediately after it finished airing. Like if you look at the key visual art from magazines and Super Robot Wars and how it's obviously supposed to look and compare it to the QUALITY ridden show itself it's just kind of sad really.

Other than that it feels like Sunrise basically combined two staple elements that are present in nearly all of their shows, namely the haughty sexy mary sue princess/noble bitch and mecha and just made her the shonen pilot and heroine instead of a dude at the same time. Normally Sunrise Princeses (TM) are just supporting characters or sub pilots at best who take care of political things.

What's kind of hilarious is even despite all the QUALITY and questionable writing decisions the show still somehow averaged over 5K in disc sales and way more than the average mecha anime sells nowadays supposedly got enough for a sequel probably just because it had the Sunrise label on the box.
