Unironically, though. The writing has been steadily getting worse and worse as time went on and there was more plot to get through. Pace that is too fast, ideas that are thrown out for the wow factor with not even an attempt at giving them any actual meat. The animation hasn't been getting any better either - how did you enjoy those literal stills after Salt and Sayuri crashed in the snow?

All in all, the show is definitely inferior now than it was before. It's a shame, because it could have easily been the AOTS.

yeah man, the first half was some of the best anime I've watched in a while.

It felt like everything was being setup perfectly story wise. How is it even possible to go fucking everything up so badly?

I really don't like what they did with Papika. All she needed was a sad backstory about being a labrat for the KKK, maybe even some sort of prototype to the amorphous children, who gets rescued by Flip Flap. I think that would have made seeing her relationship with Cocona much more touching. But instead they had to go and ruin it by giving her amnesia of a whole other life. I wish I could have amnesia of everything past episode 9.

The main world is not like normal reality, which we've had a glimpse of. After all 4 they try to escape and fail, Mimi does some suicide turn to stone thing, rewriting much of reality in the process and sending her kid off somewhere with a bit of stone in her. Papi regresses and salt is left to pick up the pieces and track things down. His father somehow survives.

No clue who the brain in Buu is, or who/what the two assistants are.

This world could also be just another layer of PI, but probably wouldn't make sense that principle characters have dived to this level (for what? and what would the top layer be like, why would this layer be here, a reality rewrite on death makes more sense.)

On one hand the shows playing things very safe, and the ending could go down for some shocking reveals and consequences. Doubtful given how positive the message and motivation has been.
