I don't believe it... it's a Christmas miracle. This episode didn't just do everything, it did everything and more, way beyond my wildest expectations. I couldn't have asked for a better present.

Where to even begin? Laura spells it out, but Yume hearing about S4's concert and immediately making their own was such a difference to how she's been that I was blown away. Really, all I can say about Yume and the girls running around, looking for ideas and setting up their concert, and even getting support on the TV and Kiratube to keep raising their popularity filled me with glee.

I could not have possibly predicted that M4 would get so much focus, and that they'd have that bro talk about love. Asahi in no uncertain terms professed his love for Koharu. And just everything about Subaru not loving, but falling in love, with Yume was perfect, right down to his full-faced blush. And pretty much every scene they had together also had Ako and Kanata in the background, keeping the scene dynamic.

They showed Yuri with an axe in the preview, but holy fuck Lily. I admit to screaming at my monitor in astonishment when that happened. This is how you fucking keep things new and fresh while continuing old traditions.

And if there's anything that came out of nowhere to make me jump for joy, it's Haruka*Motherfucking*Ruka. That sneaky little bitch all the way back from LA.

I'm one of the few people who is not ashamed to say I love We Wish You A Merry Christmas Aikatsu ver. I haven't heard it since it last played three years ago, but it's still music to my ears.

And as if all that wasn't enough, this was the first time they've directly brought up becoming the first-star idol, and it was done in such an incredible way. Setting it up with Yume before her concert and completing it after with Subaru was the finishing blow to me. "Everyone says it was good, but I'm not satisfied." It can't get any more hype than that.

I honestly can't think of any way they could've made it any better. I feel the focus was distributed perfectly between the various groups of characters, it managed to split its time between the first-years, the M4, the admins and the S4 without it feeling cluttered (well, the S4 weren't around much at all, but I don't think they needed to since Yume ignoring their concert showed her personal growth). It had callbacks to the previous Christmas episodes with the tree cutting and the sudden snow after the performance and lots of cute/funny interactions between all the characters. Definitely among my favorite Aikatsu Christmas episodes, which would be OG S1 and S2 (S3 was too much of a rehash and S4 was okay but not that special).

This episode easily lived up to the greatness of the Aikatsu Christmas specials. It was nonstop fun, and easily one of my favorite Stars episodes. Lots of cute Cat, and cute sidles too. The Yume and Subaru scene at the end was really great, also the song during it really stood out. I'm not sure how I feel about them failing to chop down the tree with an axe, but chainsaw Lily was great. I was a bit surprised by Asahi full on saying he was in love with Koharu though.

You have to admit there's at least some yuri undertones in Aikatsu, most if not all of which probably came from Kimura. Kimura's not the only part of the creative process in Aikatsu, although he was a pretty big part of it in OG. Basically what I'm trying to say is, we really can't say either way, but some cute yuri fanart and such never hurt anyone.
