I wouldn't call it a perfect depiction but it's about as close to as fictional characters get. And apparently he really was based on a real person, The Otaku Killer. Araki studies serial killers a lot and he's said before he finds them fascinating, and this shows a lot in Kira.

Kira is mentally unstable but not "crazy", at least not your typical insane anime villain. He shows a lot of traits associated with actual serial killers like his OCD, his obsession with his "girlfriends", going out of his way to tell Shigechi his lifestyle and commenting on joining a gym because he saw it, documenting his fingernails, etc. A lot of serial killers follow these kinds of patterns too. A lot of people with mental disorders, or at least hints of one, show these kinds of behaviors too (most of them are not serial killers). You could almost see Kira as a villain counterpart to Jotaro in multiple ways.

It's a sexual thing for him, and he says as much when things are going wrong that he just can't help himself.

Well the link between Vampires and Pillar Men weren't exactly well established during Part 2, and since DIO spent so long in another person's body and didn't fully fuse with it until the last few minutes of his life we don't know exactly how Vampire powers can progress.
Highway Star could certainly be used in lieu of Vampiric powers, and the more I think about it the more likely I feel it is that Cream functioned in the same way with Vanilla Ice, feeding him blood and empowering him although he was unaware of it because he did not realize he had become a vampire.

I think it's a coin toss, basically.
I don't think the animeonlies are going to like it. Not just because they hate everything that isn't Part 2 but because Vento marks one of the big changes in the series as far as art style, writing, etc. This might not go so well with them, especially because of the already existing Part 5 hate that is sure to influence their opinion. Especially if DP fucks up
But, on the other hand, I think seeing Part 5 animated, with proper translations, is probably going to change at least some people's opinions on it (I saw this happen with Part 4). Part 5 is not that hard to appreciate and it's probably going to work better in animated format than Part 4, especially considering it's a popular part.
At the end, I really don't know what to expect. Part 5 is polarizing, really. This board seems to loathe it beyond reason but JoJo circles on Facebook love sucking it's dick so I don't know what to expect.

This has been addressed by Word of God. Basically Stands are the culmination of the development potential of the human mind, and all the tools and techniques used throughout the series were either intentional or deterministic means to an end, with that end being Stand development. Some of the tools, like the Stone Masks, just ended up going a different route by empowering the Body instead of the Mind, while Hamon sort of managed to do both hence why Hamon users have both body control as Ripple and eventual Stand development as in the case of Hermit Purple, The Passion, and possibly Tonpetti's clairvoyancy (so divination seems to be the calling card of Hamon Stands, more or less, though this could just be due to coincidence and retcons)

I think it will be better in anime form. While the part 4 adaptation has been very good, I still prefer the manga. I feel like most of the fights worked better as "page-turners" if that makes any sense.
Part 5 on the other hand, is more action packed and I think most of the fights will work better through animation. That combined with the possibility of a Godfather-inspired OST will probably make quite popular.

1: Vampirism completely powerlevels the individual who is vampirized and
2: Hamon melts vampires like butter
So with these two things in mind it's pretty hard to judge exactly how strong Jonathan is in comparison to a target that ISN'T susceptible to Hamon.

Also, Jotaro killed DIO in Jonathan's body, fully fused, by PUNCHING HIS STAND IN THE KNEE SO HARD HE EXPLODED and this was after generally swinging him around Cairo like a dead cat all night, having thoroughly killed him once already

The Tarkus feats are really the most we can get for a scale of Jonathan's sheer raw power using the idea that, since Jonathan physically outdoes Tarkus, then he should logically be able to do the same things Tarkus does. This, and the fact that he's in general shown to be superhuman even before he gets Ripple powers (tackling vampires through solid brick and jumping meters into the air using a sword's hilt).
Still, Star Platinum is supposed to be the physically strongest Stand, and it does a lot of insane shit in DIO's World.
DIO even punches a train in the OVAs and makes it explode.

The Sword Of Luck and Pluck was cool but it was broken by DIO and presumably thrown away by Jonathan so it would be impossible for him to have it (and stupid too).
