Some fans are happy that Anno is making new Eva stuff, others are upset because they think it's unnecessary.

Rebuild is basically a slightly lighter version of the original series with added action and drama for cinematic value. Shijni goes through the same development and at the end of 3.0 he's about the same as he was before EoE.

I'm putting my faith in the master that he'll tie up all the loose ends and manage to make a satisfying conclusion for Rebuild that doesn't make it seem like a wholly unnecessary addition to the franchise.

Unnecessary sequels are the fucking worst. If it was its own thing then I could've just pretended it was a spinoff and ignored it but Anno just had to connect it to the original series.
