But in my experience, an anime will be socially acceptable to talk about with people if it meets 3 criteria:
-Have something interesting going on besides shitty teenager drama
>Not be too creepy with all the fanservice
>Have a decent MC with semi-realistic interactions between characters

My little cousins are big anime fans, and watched all of If Her Flag Breaks with me and I walked in on one of em watching Kill la Kill one night. He was 10 so he didn't really get it, so I just figured ignorance is bliss, and sat down with him.
I've shown my stepfather various ecchi and weird shows to further the idea that I'm completely nuts to him.
Mom actually liked a few of her own (the few that she didn't cry from).
The first anime I ever saw was Speed Racer with dad.
I've even watched Nana before with my grandmother (who hates anime), cause my girlfriend put it on.

My younger sister and I watch anime together quite a bit. Her two favorite shows are Monogatari and Gintama - she likes like dialogue and relationships in Monogatari, and as for Gintama, Sugita is her favorite voice actor so she watches anything that he's in.

My dad and I watch anime every now and again. He prefers sci-fi. Right now we're watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Quick question, do you niggas binge multiple shows at once? I've always kept it to one series at a time, but these past few weeks I've been wanting to watch quite a few series.

My much older cousin was dating a huge weeb when I was just getting into anime so she took me to a convention as a kid. She bought herself all of X/1999 for some reason and we watched it together. I also talked her into renting Akira for us because I was too young. She thought it was disgusting.

She gave me all her anime stuff when they broke up, so it's a win as far as I'm concerned.
