This actually makes sense to me. Fairy was mean and angry to both Piggy and Viktor all the time. But then Viktor left in episode 9 and then we saw that Fairy was about to cheer Yuuri on and he even shared food with him and smiled. That was the first time he smiled like that.

In episode 7, after the kiss, he looked so vry angry even though he was calm after Yuuri's Eros performance.

In episode 8, he gets too angry when Yuuri and Viktor act like a couple.

He threw his phone to a wall after seeing Viktor and Yuuri's intimate pic Phichit shared.

Maybe after meeting Otabek, he'll have a replacement for Yuuri and he'll get over it. Maybe this will be the reason Yuuri will get the gold because maybe as a farewell or maybe because he was an ass but actually cared about Yuuri, he'll let him win by losing. He'll give him to Viktor and say goodbye.

This will be fairy's character growth. This is why fairy is one of the three main characters, not just another rival.
