Come on, guys. It was bad. The only relevant thing that happened in that episode was Rio's dad call. They could've put that call in another episode and used the piss episode to expand or explain more about the world building.

I am watching it and I am loving it, the only problem is that the world feels like a soup with huge chunks of real world places that don't fit well.

So Ra No Wo To is decent at best, I gave it a 6/10.

Now go watch the anime called Haibane Renmei which is one of the very very few 9s I've ever given in this medium.

I went back and watched that episode since i'll take any excuse to rewatch sora no woto and it was a fine episode. Not exactly plot heavy but hardly any of the show is besides subtle buildup. It hinted at Rio's relation to Iliya through the trumpet scores and the priest recognizing it and of course the phone call. The wait for the call is world building in itself as well. The phone was introduced earlier in the series and is now being expanded upon. We also learn that phones are rare, being used almost exclusively for military communication seeing as Kanata has never used one before.

Narratively it's also interesting for being set entirely in the same room for the whole episode. It's basically a series of fun character vignettes from Kanata's perspective and we actually get a look at a large portion of the cast in this limited scenario.

I wouldn't call it one of the best episodes to be fair, but I think it has merit. Regardless of the whole piss fetish thing which I don't care for to begin with.
