But it's a shot taken directly from the VN. Hell, KyoAni's version of Kanon is only good for Makoto and Mai's routes. They fucked up completely on Shiori, Nayuki, and Ayu's routes. Even 2002 does a better job than KyoAni.

I'm all for hating on KyoAni but 2002 took some of it's own liberties as well not to mention it had much faster pacing.

The 2006 is much more comfy and looks great in terms of capturing a romantic snowy atmosphere.

2002 does a much better job with it's storytelling and characters, some of the changes they did made for a refreshing experience. The fast pacing can be forgiven due to the very short amount of episodes it had. However, 2002 is only good if you read the VN. 2002 can be seen as a supplement to the VN, especially with it's Kazahana OVA.

2006 on the other hand tries to adapt the VN 100%. It was amazing for the first half, but completely fell apart in the second half. The second half was not enjoyable at all. The changes they made didn't add to the story, it removed from it. Especially the final episode. The final episode was horrible.

If you want the original story, then read the VN.
If you want a different take on the story that manages to keep it enjoyable, then watch 2002 and read the manga.

Don't get me wrong, I hate on 2006 a lot but I still love it for what it is. I'll still recommend it to people.

Do remember it becoming a real mess in the second half it was like half the cast was lying in hospital beds being ignored just to try and force a multi route VN into a single anime. Certainly a lot of the impact of the girls routes is lost compared to the VN.

Clannad has Tomoyo After a porn game. Little Busters got a re-release of the same game with a few extra routes and h-scenes added and it in and managed to sell more copies than the original did. Rewrite is the only real big IP they have done which doesn't and can't have any proper h content. Even the games they did before Kanon are porn games.

It is certainly true all of their games are not about the porn but about the girls story. The h-scenes are just tacked on to sell more copies.
