The final week of part 6 must've been fucking insane from the perspective of normal people. Every fictional character in the world coming to life, an entire city morphing into snails and getting eaten by insects, gravity suddenly reversing near Cape Canaveral and killing thousands, and time accelerating to the point that days last seconds and the sun is a permanent streak in the sky. And it's 2012 too? Just imagine the suicide and doomsday cults.

It got meh in the middle sections as you'd expect for a anime that runs for more than 1 cour but the last cour picked up a bit and the final episodes are on par with the best of the first episodes, so it's the complete opposite of Part 3 where we got 44 brilliantly animated episodes followed by 4 poorly animated episodes of the most well known and iconic arc in the series.

I don't count Kira's death as an asspull since he was already beaten and going to bleed out and he had no way out, the ambulance was just so none of the main cast had to become killers or be cruel and lave him to bleed out. He wasn't 'beaten' by the ambulance like a lot of people seem to think. And Pucci's wasn't an asspull either, we saw Jolyne give him Weather's disc and in Jolyne's short fight with Pucci just after FF died we saw that discs materialise near Pucci regardless of him using the power or not, so he could easily trick him into pushing the disc into his head for him. And using the power to make the air 100% oxygen was clever because it uses Pucci's time acceleration against him, accelerating time again in that state would just make the oxygen kill him faster.

Real talk here. Am I the only one finding the anime a bit too cheesy? The drawings in the latest episodes have a lot of QUALITY and worse than all a lot of moments from the manga translate really bad in anime.
In the fight with Dio for examples there were the famous 3 or 4 seconds of stopped time that lasted at least 20 because of the monologues, in part 4 is even worse because the time is even more fucked up

It's because they insist on sticking ridiculously close to the manga. It felt fine in the manga because it's a different medium and was written for that medium, it doesn't feel that way when reading it because pace is implied whereas in animation you actually have to show it and showing fast stuff like that juxtaposed with the text is jarring. It just doesn't work in anime form unless they're willing to actually condense a little bit of the exposition or not pace it exactly the same as the manga did.

What I didn't like about it is that half the time I had no fucking clue what was going on. Like, no fucking idea. The beginning in the prison is fine, it starts going to shit around that dragon stand nobody cares about, and only becomes good again at the very end.
I honestly think it has the best plot, best stands, best villain, and best girl, but jesus is it a fucking chore to read. I can't remember what two thirds of the stands did, and when I can remember I can't name them or their user or remember how the scenes went. In all my first read throughs of Jojo, I could barely recall or remember a number of shit. It always takes reading a second time for me to really grasp everything and truly enjoy it.

Real talk, /a/, is there anyone else whose opinion of Part 4 went down after this season? I'm not talking about "wtf, I hate part 4 now", I just mean some degree of re-evaluating your opinions?

I personally hadn't (re)read part 4 in a long time, so going through the manga and anime for SC and DiU had some wake up calls for things I had forgotten about or made better in my memories.

One axiom (with slight variations) that always gets parroted ad infinitum about DiU, past, present, and future, is "Part 4 is where the manga really hits its stride, Stands become new and surreal/esoteric, and Araki finds his niche.

But in reflection, this isn't true at all. Depending on your leniency, 60-80% of the Stands are copies or variations of Stands from Part 3, or from Part 4 itself, with tons of overlapping powers. Or worse, you get Stands with absolutely no consistency, where they'll have power A and/or B, and then a power C that has nothing whatsoever to do with the base powers. And stands that break established rules for no foreseeable reason.

It also has much worse pacing and consistency/writing, with no direction most of the time and lots of 'asspulls' logic (and that's Araki/Jojo logic as a standard, not the average of other works).

It's my opinion that loving Part 4 is mainly dependent on (a), being enamored with the retarded Araki-brand dudebro comedy that the main gang is always up to, and (b), loving that it ditches all the hard core elements of the first three parts and becomes what we'd see today as a rote shounen battle manga.

It became my favourite part on re-read. I honestly like it's fights more than part 5 fights. The survivor fight was hype as fuck, the one that fucks with your memories was really good, all encounters with Pucci through out the story were awesome and when they finally leave the prison they have the best amount of consecutive chapters in jojo that perfectly shows what makes jojo great. Fantastic character interactions, insane fights that are bizarre, over the top, emotionally driven and interestingly complex, a break neck pace, good comedy and a tense, heartbreaking ending to all the madness.

It's probably got the lowest lows not counting part 1 but it in my opinion has the biggest highs.
