I never understood why people actually thought there was even a slight possibility of Kumiko and Reina getting together. Yes they get physically close but it never really stroke me as romantic. The physicality just mirrors their bond. We see things from Kumiko's perspective and she never really delved into the idea of looking at Reina in a romantic way. Reina of course likes Taki.

Their 'confession of love' was also devoid of any romantic subtext.

All this delusion actually reminds me when the LotR movies were being screened. I saw a lot of people commenting on how Frodo and Sam might be gay. It's as if the concept of people from the same gender bonding was alien to them.

The talk about Reina dating convo in reality and not in a series still seemingly trying to avoid the very very obvious same-sex romantic relationship happening: "Maybe someone confessed to her, and she doesn't know what to do?" - Midori "No way. That's impossible." - Kumiko "How can you be so sure? Wait, is she already dating..." - Midori "We've been dating for like 15 episodes (aka since s1ep. 8)" - Kumiko. None of this Taki crush b.s., its so disgusting that a student-teacher crush is being given more attention/merit than the obvious same-sex one relationship; especially considering the prior is rooted in admiration not love. Can KyoAni borrow Yuri on Ice's progressive and 21st thinking writers please?
- Kumiko talking about how Reina is 'high maintenance' and gets upset over the smallest of things is totally like someone in a marriage xD
- ugh that mountain scene could've been such a great 'coming out'/realizing one's feelings moment , instead it was brought down by the talk about Taki and a b.s. crush -.- At least the emotion between Kumiko and Reina saved some of it. And then they damage Kumiko's character by having her talk about how Taki doesn't have a wife anymore and how she's rooting for Reina to be with Taki; seriously wtf writers. This is just poor writing and twisting characters away from reality, worse its towards a sick af teacher-student relationship with a student maybe 15-16. The best fking romance in the show being side-lined for this b.s. because anime companies can't move into the 21st century thinking of giving same-sex actual merit instead having the ones that are capable of it being the outliers.

The whole shoe thing is pretty reminiscent of TM/TLS. Orbiting childhood friend who's in love with a girl who's oblivious to it and never really considered it, but when he confesses she thinks about it a bit and realises she's had feelings for him all along even though they were never directly addressed in the show. I watched TM when it aired, and while I thought Midori's crush on Tamako was cute and had fun with it like everyone else, I don't think I ever really doubted that Tamako was going to eventually end up with Mochizou.

I mean, the fact that I'm pretty sure that this was the first piece of promotional art for the show aside, their relationship was almost literally set up to mirror Romeo and Juliet, except in this case Juliet happened to be an oblivious retard.
