It actually kinda is. The main girl is made to have a very widespread appeal. The idea is that she draws in the largest number of people with a very safe design. Then after you draw in a large readership, you appeal to them strongly with more niche side characters. For example, I really don't like Liese but I love Arin. Others may feel the opposite.

Does the tall kick-y one get more development further in the manga? She felt kinda sidelined by everyone else, hardly felt like she and the camera chick were part of the harem. I liked her design and general demeanor though.
