Kay help me out here. I just finished the main anime and I have the choice to start the Railgun series.. But the thing is I have no love for Misaka. Should I watch it anyway (because I've read its supposedly better made than the main series) or should I just move on to the LNs.

And when it comes to the LNs I have two I just finished the anime so I reeeaaaalllyy don't feel like completing the entire story so far again. So is it compulsory to just read the whole thing or should I start again from Volume 14.

Railgun is side stories, so it's not necessary but the manga is pretty good. The only part of the railgun anime worth watching is the first half of the second season for the better adaptation of the sisters arc plus the appearance by Item who will be relevant shortly after where the Index anime ended.

What interests me is that the world of the series is filled with all these people with all kinds of special powers. And the main dude's power is just to make everyone normal. Then he just punches them because they don't have any extra powers and are just normal people. Just a normal dude beating up all these people that think they're special with regular punches.

There's just something satisfying in the simplicity of that.

NT11 introduced Touma not being able to remember misaki which was used in both Index and railgun since, also noukan. NT12 introduced germaine effect which was used by yuiitsu to fake and is likely the bases over her Kihara infection thing, which is posed as a counter of archtype control. speaking of which it introduced archtype control, Crowley's personal magic. NT 13 introduced the AAA, gave up info HP and perhaps more importantly Crowley's personal experience with magic gods, and of course good old Kamisato. NT14 furthered Kamisato's intentions and personality, gave us the shaggoth, setup for how the save kamisato, killed noukan. NT15 brought Salome into the mix, pushed Mikoto over the edge into the AAA plot. NT16 Fran setup, Kamisato get WR'd. NT 17, we don't know how much of what happened will effect the next volume, but Crowley getting shot, the currently detached WR, Mikoto being cured, and the confirmation that most of magic gods are still alive likely will be important.
