Apparently S2 of the anime is primarily anime-original content, so that's somewhat telling. There's enough manga content in there to make it necessary for viewing to understand a hypothetical third season (assuming you haven't read the manga), but not enough to make you actually care. Pragmatically speaking, the manga is about a single one-cours anime season's worth of content ahead of the end of the first season.
