The author has little control over how the pacing of an anime turns out. We just have way too many shitty directors clogging up the industry these days. Scraprin was basically the gold standard of half assed LN adaptions. Skipping most of the content while still delivering a faithful product that hits all the right notes.

the biggest problem of chaika is that the pandering factor is too high, and destroys the credibility of the characters (which in turn drags the whole thing to the ground).
the protagonist is a NEET and a the same time the ultimate warrior.
the behavior of his sister is ridiculous too, so forced, her whole characters comes out as completely inhuman.
chaika is supposed to search the world for magical things and she get lost in a fucking bush.
come on.
i don't mind a couple of winks to the audience in a light story, but in chaika it was too much.
