I grew up on digimon while dismissing pokemon. Now I'm watching S&M while flipping the bird at Applimons.

I watch it, but it kinda sucks.
I am still waiting for the plot to get going, but it really is a lot slower than the other digimon series.

Digimon tried growing up with the audience and hits the same wall like every other shounen. It tried to be interesting while wallowing in the same shounen cliches that most other shounens have. Pokemon didnt bother with any of that and just tried to make it fun for children, so for good or ill, it doesnt have the same try-hard (sans XY) feeling that shounen series usually have.

Same. Right now it's really reminding me of The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time part of Xros Wars. Only reason I'm watching it is because I have autism and can't drop a franchise once I've picked it up.

Appli Syun from the last episode was fun, the series is getting good.

Appli Naruto is annoying, Appli Yuya is soulless like Chris from Sonic X and Appli Yuzu is the best girl this franchise ever made.

Appli Yuzu's a good enough girl so far, but she hasn't really had time to prove herself yet, and I don't think she'll ever be as good as Juri or Ruki since it's unlikely that any character in this show will have anything resembling depth.

I just started Xros Wars and it doesn't seem too bad, is it the later seasons that give it a bad name?

imo it's not "bad" per se, just much more childish than the series before it, and the characters aren't super likable (though I don't hate any of them either, they're just kinda bland and clichéd). Young Hunters is probably what people hate most though, since it's very light-hearted and there's never any real danger. Personally I found that fine since sometimes I just want to watch something chill, but I can see why people hated it.
