watched lucky star first, about 6 years ago no. only watched gurren lagann about 4 months ago.

didn't really start watching mecha anime until somewhat recently so i was reluctant but i enjoyed it more than lucky star.

In retrospect, Lucky Star was the better anime. It stood the test of time. Whereas Gurren Lagann was something that got you pumped when you were a hormonal teen, but didn't really have the same impact in your mid-twenties.

Gurren Lagann. I actually dropped Lucky Star several episodes before the ending when I realized I was only watching it for Lucky Channel and the Shiraishi EDs. It really soured my taste for KyoAni shows and caused me to ignorantly skip Nichijou while it was airing.

I'm a character-driven kind of guy, so naturally I'll pick Lucky Star over the plot-driven TTGL.

Besides, Lucky Star was always fantastic outside of the first episode. TTGL went to shit after the timeskip.
