I guess it gave us Maho at least

You should be taking it as a compliment if you're American. It's stating that Russia's intelligence and special operations forces aren't competent or relevant enough to be a major player in the global power trade.
If anything, I'd consider the antagonists presented in S;G 0 to be realistic ones for a modern day scenario.

And CERN, and Russia.
It definitely was realistic. All Japan could do is be fought over by foreign powers. If you weren't a cutthroat someone else would get the time machine first and control the world.

I was referring more to Judy's shenanigans than anything. The idea of the the Department of Defense pursuing the idea of brainwashing kamikaze soldiers kind of erked me.
Also, what was the point of invading and waging war in Japan once the time machine is destroyed?
>>150634444
>4 4'sShe's DARPA though, not the DoD. They're free to pursue projects of interest.
Because there's more than just the time machine at stake. Not only is there Amadeus, though I agree there'd probably be better applications than mindless soldiersbut there's the chance that it'd fall into the hands of any of the other myriad groups out there. If there's one thing America prefers to keep close, it's anything that affects the balance of power.
>>150634575
>>150634535If Okabe leaves his phone on at the shrine, Stratfor is ultimately the first group to get their hands on time travel. Leskinen lives to meet Kagari in the 2030s, brainwashes her, and sends her back where he uncovers his own messages after digitizing her memories. Cue brainwashing and surgery to spy on Okabe.
In the endings stemming from turning the phone off other groups besides Stratfor beat them to the punch and Leskinen may end up dead. Kagari is Kagari. Yuki only goes to Europe in timelines where Kagari gets plastic surgery.
Suit is presumed to be Reyes or an unimportant soldier like all the others in timelines where Kagari isn't brainwashed.

Thanks, this helps as well, but I was thinking more of the linesof what triggers each event and why whether he takes the phone call or not matters.
Whendata started being removed and when Amadeus became unstable and inconsistent, she became Kurisu. Is this their solution to the frame problem?
>>150641508
Something like this?
>>150641708
Not quite. For example, when hemeets Kurisu in alpha worldline she sends a d-mail and he gets back to the beta worldline. What were the contents of that d-mail? Why is he in different worldlines depending on whether he picks up the phone call, and when he doesn't pick up the phone? What's happening in the background?
>>150641708
No he's asking how he's changing world lines based on whether you answer a call on the phone in the present. Dmails were sent to the past so it's natural they affected events leading up to the present, but why does answering a phone call in the present affect events in the past?
Is Kagari literally just a better Kurisu? She's got the thegood parts of both her and Mayushii, not to mention that she's hotter than both of them

Do I need to complete all endings before I can go to the true end?
>>150642785
You only need Promised Rinascimento to get the true end but you should get every end before going into Vega and Altair(Mayuri End)
So what's the general consensus on 0, by itself and when compared to S;G?
>>150643185
The general consensus seems to be "excellent" and "even better".
>>150643185
I haven't completed it yet but so far it's great, but the general depressing tone makes it much more serious despite there being so many light hearted scenes in it.the scene where he goes back to the alpha worldline and reunites with kurisu only to get dmailed back to the beta worldline felt like a kick in the guts
>>150642304
Thanks. What about Kagari? She got off the time machine because she was brainwashed by Leskinen. In a timeline where it didn't happen, how did she get lost?

Great VN, a worthy successor to the original.

Little bit decisive, some said it's on par or even better, while some thought S;G is still better.
I find it really sad that Kyouma did more for everyone than Okabe ever could
Well I wept like a baby whenKyouma appeared
I actually thought 0 was kinda disappointing. The branching routes seemed more random compared to the original and some plot points weren't resolved. Still loved it a lot though.
legal loli ftw
So Okabe was abrainlet all along? He never created the time machine?
>>150634047
At the very least, S;G and Zero have the excuse of being filtered through Okabe's kind of weird view of the west.
>>150636894
If it was only Kurisu, I guess you could argue that it was an intentional choice, you know, her being as Okabe remembered her and all that. But they also reuse a few other sprites.
>come to save kagari when he could have just time leaped
>"drop ur weapon or she's dead"
>they actually do it
What the fuck were they thinking?
>>150645105
No.
>>150643383
It's because Kyouma is the tool that Okabe uses to get over his own issues. When he rejects it, he becomes a broken recluse that wallows in self-pity and lets WW3 happen. When he embraces it he makes time his bitch, gets the girl and saves the world.
>ended up crying on the train whenhououin kyouma was reborn
I don't think I ever felt a moment this powerful in a visual novel, perhaps the related scene in S;G near the end on the roof but I don't remember being this moved back then
>>150645368
>on the train
When was that? All of his revivalsmoved me quite a lot. The only thing that compares is the monologue he gave in the original VN when he chose to let Kurisu die, and to everyone else it just sounded like nonsense.
>>150645537
It really hurt whenKurisu ordered Okabe to forget about her. That girl is too goddamn selfless.
>>150645718
>what you're forgetting me already?
damn kurisu
>>150645776
she is so cruel sometimes, man
>>150645776
Just the way that she's going back on what she considered a selfish request in the original timeline where that choice was made, even if she may not know it, hurts. She just can't stand to see him suffer and feels like she's the cause. It would make me angry at Mayuri if not for how intentional it is that she doesn't know the full story. Kurisu shares that weight with Okabe and it's why she can't keep being there for him in Zero.
>>150634746
I wouldn't say the American government, but the CIA. The CIA is pretty much the source of all evil in America. No one actually knows what the CIA does except for the CIA. And they do a lot of shady shit, considering the arms and drugs they sell. They're probably involved in human trafficking too.

It's good, if you follow the two main routes in order it becomes much better. It's too bad the art and music are sometimes lacking. All the good music was from original, and they reused the original's art in places where it doesn't belong.

It'll be odd though considering that they'll have to adapt two separate routes.
>>150647062
Well, the version of the original that I played on Vita seemed pretty good. 'Normalfags' became 'normals' but that's all I can think of that stood out.

So, where did the fucking song come from?
Or is it a bootstrap paradox?
>>150647301
Wasn't that scene with Kagari singing in the rain taken straight from S;G? It's a perfect loop.
Is it true thatthe whole game uses recursive mechanism? Like TE Okabe is the result of countless wordlines ( maybe even the drama cd beta). Read something like that on RS ask fm, it was from a novelization called Oroboros of the binding chain
Did I miss something during true end? It seems weird thatthey are all so dramatic about Okabe going back in time, saying they may never meet again. Or rather, why is he even going back?I get that his plan is to rescue Suzu and Mayuri who got lost in time after running out of battery, but why even bother with that? Mayuri went back in time, meaning she already called herself in the past and is going to slap Okabe on the roof. Wouldn't it be enough to simply record and send the Operation Skuld D-Mail? Doing so unlocks the Steins Gate world line, so the entire world line they currently exist in would cease to exist, right?Maybe I missed something, because it honestly feels like a forced drama added to a already complete end.
>>150648275
Iteliminates him from the world and prevents his Reading Steiner from activating, making the Okabe who receives the Mail the observer.
>>150647301
Mayuri buys a music box at the Kurismas party and the tune of the box is the song. That could be the point of origin.
>>150648439
Okay, that kind of makes sense, but then what aboutthe Okabe that just got "eliminated"? Did he basically just commit a time-machine suicide and let his consciousnes get "absorbed" into the Okabe who receives Skuld D-Mail?
>>150648235
Yes,it is
>>150648275
>but why even bother with that? Mayuri went back in time, meaning she already called herself in the pastThey're lost in time and Okabe is going to bring them back to 2010,meaning she didn't call herself yet. This is a necessary step to the success of Operation Skuld
>>150648575
Heleaves the world and gets eliminated by the restructuring world, he ceases to exist.
>>150648527
The christmas party doesn't happen in the Kagari world line.
>>150648575Don't worry about the D-Mail and the Steins;Gate okabe being replaced by the Zero Okabe.
The solution is simple, they make an amadeus backup of S;G okabe and when zero okabe takes his place in 2025 due to reading steiner they just simply over-write him. If you want to be less cruel they could make an amadeus of him instead of deleting him entirely.
>>150648643
Okay, that is true. But why would the music box ever have that tune? Did mayuri make it play the tune or did it come with the box?

>>150648782
I was wating for the "Whose eyes are those eyes" the entire way through but got nothing.
0/10 Not enough Chaos;Headpun very much intended
>>150648275
I'm still completely convinced the author just didn't know what to do once the D-Mail was taken care of and didn't want to rehash the original's ending even though it would've been better. The story gets a lot more confusing if you dwell on where Okabe's "current" consciousness is in the timeline due to how Reading Steiner works, but now that we know he absolutely is not special and a lot of other people share the ability you can't say he went back in time just to move that point. Okabe in 2025 would know firsthand all the work that went into saving Kurisu, Okabe in 2010 wouldn't.
>>150648722The tune obviously exists separately from the recursive loop in the Kagari route, so it has to have a starting point somewhere. The box proves this, it probably is a few years older than 2011.
>>150648794
It matters becauseOkabe in 2025 would have memories from the 3rd world war without ever having experienced the Steins Gate history he so desperately fought for. Why even bother saving your waifu if you can't even remember the time you spent with her?
>>150648782
>>150648847
>Ark Heart General Medical Hospital in Yoyogi
How could you miss this? My alarm sirens were going off the second Okabe stepped inside the building. Leskinen talking to the director of said hospital didn't make it better. I mean, we all know what happened in that basement, and probably is still happening.
By 2015 there are still patients down there, at least in the Steins Gate world line of Chaos;Child. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that even in the Beta line there would be them.
Pic related, the basement full of patients. Those patients were tested with the Rikishi Seal to see if they could develop Gigalomania.

>>150649803
I heard that Kurisu's patent apperead in S:G0 as a C;H flag, which should have tipped off people.Something about Takumi being right in his paranoia
>>150650030
Time travel was a lot easier when only Okabe controlled the timeline and he always knew exactly what changed or immediately investigated it with his friends.Kagari is a great big can of worms, especially since she seems to have the "voice of God" in all timelines, and a relatively minor decision changes her in all subsequent routes
The observer was always a mess but you could avoid thinking about it too much since S;G only had one real timeline and we always saw it from the same Okabe's perspective.
While we're speculatingIn Maho's end which Kurisu even is that? I assume she somehow Reading Steiner'd herself into Amadeus since Amadeus is essentially a fully functional human mind, but how does she know about Steins;Gate?

The Uroboros Novel features a bunch of scrapped cutting-room floor content including an extended cut of the Video D-Mail, which Future Okabe calls the "Nostalgia Drive Mail" because it's driven by the nostalgia of all the Beta Okabes. The gist of it is thatbetween Vega & Altair, and the Milky Way Crossing End, there are countless more Okabes learning countless more things. The Milky Way Okabe learns to combine all the knowledge from all the World Lines that "he" experienced in a recursive loop in order to finally enact Operation Skuld. He is basically the sum of dozens if not hundreds of Okabes that sacrificed themselves for the end result. If I remember right he mentions a few of the Okabes and how they met their end, one attempted to turn himself into data and send himself as a D-Mail, one went into a Time Machine and got lost looking for Mayuri in Akihabara hundreds of thousands of years in the past, etc.
>>150654646
Kagari didn't become Kurisu's mother, no. The Mother Goose End wasKagari initiating Operation Arclight instead of Mayuri, but it likely ended in failure which is why it was a Recursive End and not a Key End.

>>150655003If you look at all the endings in Zero, they each contain a vital piece of Operation Skuld. The point of Zero is to show us the "foundation" of the final operation. Therefore each ending in the game happens recursively (Except Gehenna, but that does more for Daru than anything else), but only the core two routes are explicitly shown as such.

It's also a self-reference. When they were originally deciding what to call their time traveling mail in the first S;G, Okabe suggested "Nostalgia Drive", but Kurisu shot it down for being too chuuni.

I haven't finished it yet but so far it's very good. I did expect more Okabe suffering desu but it's not a dealbreaker.
>>150656051
Sorry, didn't quite explain myself clearly there.
Gehennais recursive, I believe. And in my opinion it should've been a mandatory first ending. It just doesn't contain anything that helps build towards Operation Skuld specifically like the other ends do. What I would say it does contribute to is the steeling of Daru's resolve.
Are there any extra LNs/Drama CDs with Maho in the S;G worldline? Wish they'd have given her something there at the end of S;G0.

Tanabata: It celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively).
Orihime, daughter of the Tentei, wove beautiful clothes by the bank of the Amanogawa (天の川 Milky Way, lit. "heavenly river"?). Her father loved the cloth that she wove and so she worked very hard every day to weave it. However, Orihime was sad that because of her hard work she could never meet and fall in love with anyone. Concerned about his daughter, Tentei arranged for her to meet Hikoboshi (彦星 Cowman/Cowherd Star, or literally Boy Star?) (also referred to as Kengyuu (牽牛?)) who lived and worked on the other side of the Amanogawa. When the two met, they fell instantly in love with each other and married shortly thereafter. However, once married, Orihime no longer would weave cloth for Tentei and Hikoboshi allowed his cows to stray all over Heaven. In anger, Tentei separated the two lovers across the Amanogawa and forbade them to meet. Orihime became despondent at the loss of her husband and asked her father to let them meet again. Tentei was moved by his daughter’s tears and allowed the two to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month if she worked hard and finished her weaving. The first time they tried to meet, however, they found that they could not cross the river because there was no bridge. Orihime cried so much that a flock of magpies came and promised to make a bridge with their wings so that she could cross the river. It is said that if it rains on Tanabata, the magpies cannot come and the two lovers must wait until another year to meet
Mayuri wants to be Okabe (or Hikoboshi)'s Orihime, because Mayuri loves him, but she already knows that Kurisu is Okabe (in this case Orihime)'s Hikoboshi.
At least that's how I understood it.

>>150661230
He wasn't doing anything important as far as I remember, The last hour+ was all about Maho/Moeka/Reyes.
While we are on the topic of Twin Automata. What the actual fuck happened back then?
>Maho tells/sings Reyes the secret code to Amadeus (fake)
>She runs away with Moeka
>they fight durpa/stratfor goons
>Maho knows she gave Reyes fake password, but still insist on coming back to her room to "save Kurisu"
Wait, what? For what fucking purpose? The most she can do is break your PC or spit on the screen, why risk it and go back there?
The next part is even more retarded
>Moeka gives the correct password
>Amadeus still needs Maho voice recognition
>Moeka gets shot, Reyes is clearly planning to shoot Maho as well
>she literally said to Maho 20 minutes ago that she will have to shoot her either way
>Maho still gives the command to delete the system
Why? She had no idea Moeka is going to shoot Reyes back then
>option a) Maho deletes Amadeus and gets shot by Reyes
>option b) Amadeus remains un-hacked and Maho gets shot
So why exactly would she delete the Amadeus? The system was safe, and if she was going to get shot either way, why delete it?
I might be nitpicking, but Maho route is my second favourite in this game and her ending felt like the author just ran out of ideas to force drama and decided to delete Kurisu just so he can sneak in that "We will reach SG, take care of Kyouma for me" scene.
>>150661266

>>150661848
It was written on a box Maho used during the interview to explain the Frame Problem. I can kind of believe Moeka was autistic enough to remember it and make a lucky guess in the final scene.
Still, the fact that she wrote the password on a box she carried in her bag and had no problem showing other people is retarded in its own way
>you are one of the creators of super advanced AI
>its final defense mechanism requires a secret password only you know
>fuck military, your lab mates or even your fucking superiors, you are the only person in the entire fucking world who knows said password
>"better write it down on some random box and show it around to people during interviews, what could possibly go wrong"
You are better than this Maho, come on.
>>150661733
While I'm not sure if Maho could understand this, the system wasn't safe. Leskinen cracks it on his own in Vega. It's not entirely unreasonable she'd decide it was unsafe to leave Amadeus intact with people like this after it.

I liked the way Blick Winkel explained it so I'll just paste it here, basically it's another step on the path to deceiving himself. It's actual importance to Operation Skuld was during the interview between him, Moeka, and Maho.Twin Automata: Maho and Moeka demonstrate that both humans and nonhumans can be deceived by outward appearances that belie actual content.
"This is not a box."
Both the world and "OG Beta-only Okabe" can be fooled by keeping the outward appearance of an event (Okabe sees a dead Kurisu) but changing the "content" of the event (Kurisu actually being alive).
I want to pet this.
>>150662154
>Going back bugged the crap out of me, no point at all.
She wanted to save Kurisu. She treated her as a real person. Leaving Kurisu in the hands of people who wanted to harm or use her while she was helpless when she could have prevented it would've eaten away at her. Viruses and other harmful programs exist.

>>150661733
>The most she can do is break your PC or spit on the screen.
The Amadeus access app is still on there meaning DURPA would still have access to Amadeus. With enough time, it can be cracked. Maho also didn't want to run away from her friend even if she was bitter about being Salieri. She valued how Kurisu felt and being left in the hands of DURPA as an immortal prisoner to be reverse engineered/tested on wasn't something she wanted.
>she literally said to Maho 20 minutes ago that she will have to shoot her either way
>Maho still gives the command to delete the system
>Why? She had no idea Moeka is going to shoot Reyes back then
She didn't want Reyes to have Amadeus. It was a final "fuck you".
Point being that she knew Amadeus was safe only for the moment. The only way Kurisu would be "saved" was by being deleted so her memories wouldn't be used in a power struggle.
>>150664024
Should they have been subtle? I think most people would see the parallel as soon as they saw Maho's username and the name of the system it logged in to. This sort of setup is a really common one, but that doesn't mean it's any less meaningful for the people who are familiar with those sorts of circumstances.

Okay, so imagine this.
A game has a secret ending with some major implications for the next and final game in a series.
Then said final game comes out and nothing from that secret ending is actually addressed in it and when questioned about it the creator said that they threw that in just to give the game a more "happy" ending, specifically calling it non canon metafiction.

>>150654646
No. According to the Vita thread, that was Steiner pulling a prank on a friend that got out of hand.
>>150666323
Monogatari already did the whole "Minor incident with a snail leads to the destruction of the world in an alternate timeline." plot in a cohesive, believable and emotional way that only took 4 episodes.
Taking that concept and drawing it out for an entire 25+ hour game that clashes with everything else in its series was never gonna end well.
>>150666452
Apparently those bad ends are a recursive thing and they do all happen at once, or rather one after the other due to future time travel.
It's like a loop except each time it plays differently and they ultimately build to the final one.
Somebody explained it earlier in the thread
>You will never have anything this pure and beautiful as what these two do in your life

While it is true that movie/ova isn't canon, there is a short story Holy Day of Scourge that is canon. It takes place in december (SG world line).
Sadly we don't have a full translation of that yetand we will never have, unless someone other than Steiner will give a fuck, but there are synopsis of it circulating around.Long story short, Okabe and Kurisu are still in an awkard long-distance relationship focused on sending each other letters/emails.

I'm fine with the idea of Okabe not wanting to fuck it up or Kurisu having some reservations about this chuuni weirdo from Japan that she's inexplicably attached to and that it would slow things down, but that movie gave the impression that he'd basically cut contact.
>>150668563
Antimatter's was much worse. It was several years later and suggesting that they'd gotten absolutely nowhere. And Okabe was now basically a P.I. or something. It was dumb.

Also, girlcellys upload is split into two separate.rar folders and there doesn't seem to be any reason for it? The half I'm using works fine so far.
>>150668603
The movie has absolutely nothing to do with the series, it even goes against the basic time-travel rules the main series estabilished.
Let's not talk about this mess.Although I have to admit it was decent for an "turn your brain off and enjoy Kurisu pandering" mindset, I guess.
>>150668752
That's the thing about the movie. For all it got wrong, the actual moment to moment character interactions were fantastic. I also enjoy that the basic premise is that Suzuha, always cleaning up Kurisu's mess, got so goddamn sick of her tsun shit that she went back in time to slap her about and make her do what she clearly wanted to.
>>150668603

I despise the movie, but apparently someone in SG0 dev team must've loved it, since they pretty much recreated one of the scenes in the game. When Kagari has a flashback about escaping the facility she remembers a boy she met on a bus stop. It's raining and the boy just strolls to her asking if she is lost, in a voice strangely similar to Okabe's. That's pretty much the final scene of the movie, just with female characters switched.

Some of the timelines are loops that feed back into themselves. Some are vital steps towards making Operation Skuld happen.
Tangentially related, what's the best way to play Chaos;Head in English?
>>150668752
The movie has me of two minds about how it treats one of the core parts of the ending of the original. Part of the idea was that the weight of events was Okabe's to carry and his alone. The price he paid for his actions was the knowledge of all he had seen and the inability to share it. Mayuri was alive, but he could never undo the hundreds of times he'd seen her die. Kurisu was alive, but he still knew how it felt to sink a blade into her chest and feel the life drain from her in his arms. Even if he could tell people, they would never know what it means or how it feels. That burden was his alone and he was going to be dealing with it until the day he died.
But now in the movie Kurisu gets it too and it's all good. They've both been observers and can share the experience. I both love and hate it at the same time. It's like a guilty pleasure.
>>150671413
I remember feeling at the time like the Kurisu that talked with Okabe in the rain during her end had been timeleaping some. I never looked into if any of the side material confirmed or denied it though.
>>150668947
Wait, so this scene is not from the original S;G? How the fuck do I have memory of it if I haven't seen the movie then?
>>150671586
Reading steiner.
The scene in the movie is set immediately before the scene where Okabe first brings out the mad scientist for Mayuri when she's at the cemetery in a flashback. You might be embellishing.
>>150669139
I dunno, leaving the ED for Gehenna without vocal feels like a perfect end for that route.
>>150671565
I think there's some side story on the topic, though I could be mistaken. But more to the point, the final Steins Gate worldline Kurisu wouldn't know about it.
>>150671624
I clearly remember a rainy scene where young Okabe circa cemetery days met a girl. Don't remember if she was singing, but she didn't register his presence back then as well and I think it was shown from her perspective. Don't tell me it's just a fucking deja vu and it wasn't in the VN, this memory is damn too vivid.
>>150672032
they might know remember a little bit
it was already established that some people kept fragments of memories that weren't as clear as Okabe's, and 0 blew that open even wider
>>150672043
There was no such scene in the VN. In the movie which hasdeja vu in its nameKurisu isn't singing, but she does kiss shota Okabe as a callback to a scene in the VN and also the solution to the storyline. It's weird.
>>150672067
Some people have it stronger than others and it's hard to say who's who in that regard. Kurisu did immediately react to being called Christina and was clearly suffering from some reading steiner from the need she felt to look for Okabe and her emotional response upon finding him, but beyond that it's hard to say.
>>150672248
Perhaps it was another novel, then.Perhaps S;G from other timeline had more scenes.
>>150672248
>Kurisutravels back in time and saves Okabe from oblivion by stealing his first kiss
That was kind of cute.
>>150673114
They wanted it to happen and threw out the rulebook to make it happen.
>>150673138
True, but it totally felt like something Kurisu would do. She has that cute sort of pettiness to her that would probably turn yandere if she wasn't so kind hearted.
Just finished, I enjoyed the ride but that was not a satisfying ending. I mean I get the ending is in S;G already, but that doesn't make this one feel like any less of a fizzle.
>>150673900
Replay S;G true end for the full effect. Pretend Maho shows up
>>150673900
>>150673925
>It didn't come with an extended version of the true ending to tie in some of the new characters and maybe give a little more closure
Wasted opportunity.
>>150673900
Guess Okabe's struggle wasn't too relatable for you?
>>150673943
Yeah I agree.
>true end Okabe doesn't know about Maho or Kagari so the Lab Mem badges are incomplete
>after all the fucking work Maho puts in for Operation Skuld she gets forgotten
>after swearing to Kagari she'd meet Mayuri in a better world we're left with no proof
>Amadeus still exists and contains a backup of Kurisu with time travel knowledge
It could have been handled but they chose not to.
>>150673994
Not to mention actually showing Mayuri and Suzuha arriving while Okabe is trying to save Kurisu the first time. It's a pretty major plot point to just have the reader assume.
>>150673994
I feel like a lot of this stems from Chiyo writing S;G before having fleshed out the concept of 0 to begin with.
>>150674226
That's understandable but if you're going to make 0 at least address shit.Maho and Okabe should have discussed him forgetting her in the SG worldline to give more parallels to Kurisu, not whether or not he'd return from his literally pointless time travel mission.
>>150673994
You could add just one post-ending email from Kurisu to Okabe talking about her research partner and how her current project is coming along and you'd solve a bunch of issues immediately.
>>150673943
>>150673994
As much as I agree that the true end was too short, I'd rather glad they're not delving too much into the SG world line, just leave it to reader's imagination.
The true end should've ended with the rooftop scene though, just like in the opening.
>>150674685
>they're not delving too much into the SG world line
Holy Day of Scourge was a mistake.
>>150674761
Considering Holy Day is "canon" and from what we know given the summary I really don't get why Okabe in 0 had no issues with Nae. It's the exact same trauma, he just doesn't react in 0.
>>150674849
It's almost as if the only things really intended to be canon are the games and anything else is fluff that just sort of exists or something.
>>150674876
I suppose, but Arc Light of the Point of Infinity explains what Mayuri was doing far better than 0 does. No idea why it wasn't adapted into the game.
So uh isn't Mako just basically Kurisu but short?
>>150675121
Felt completely different to me. Next to no tsun, less prideful, has some major inferiority issues against Kurisu, isn't a secret memelord, is more prone to showing weakness (Gehenna's Stigma end, her mental breakdown after being attacked), more docile, messy. Her smarts seem to require more effort than Kurisu's ever did as well.
Can you picture Kurisu in this situation with this face?
>>150675305
Forgot to quote the image >>150661120
>>150675305
>Next to no tsun, less prideful
I feel that's only because she's interacting with PTSD Okabe and not drooling chuuni retard Okabe
>>150675437
Drooling chuuni retard Okabe did win Christina over, despite how much he annoyed her.
It's interesting how Zero manages to add extra weight to Okabe and Kurisu's relationship so effortlessly.
>>150675437
The drama CD did show how Maho interacts with drooling chuuni retard Okabe.
>>150675764
Summary?
Is Suzuha way better in Zero or is it just my imagination?
>>150676028
She has more characterization here and interaction with the rest of the cast.
>>150675977
Maho comes to FGL for the first time, met Okabe and the rest of labmems. She's there to get Kurisu back to America.
Her reaction to Okabe is basically
>What the fuck is wrong with guy, why is Kurisu wasting her time with himAmadeus Maho was also involved
>>150676028
Not just you.
Zero Suzuha is the best version of Suzuha that we got.
>>150676028
0 Suzuha is pretty much a different character. I also like her more.
>>150676519
I want to know how Maho reacts to seeing straight-shooting, no bullshit Kurisu going all weak at the knees for a chuuni moron in his dingy hideout in Akiba.
>>150676028
Taking care of Suzuha when she was sick scene was much needed healing. Her voice is too cute
>>150676637
It confuses the shit out of her.
>>150676827
Suzuha is cute and that's why she's so much fun in Zero. She can sort of relate to Okabe about being out of place and out of time, but she also has this conflict between being a honed weapon that's seen some shit and a bright, happy and friendly girl. Seeing the two sides tear at each other leads to some fantastic scenes.
>>150676894
Given that Kurisu struggles to make sense of it herself, I'm not too surprised. For that matter I don't think Okabe really gets it either. I bet Mayuri is across it, though.

>>150679063
And Okabe only has the choice of falling for one. Properly, anyway.
>>150679063
True, but the world as we know it ends if Okabe doesn't fall for Kurisu, and even then it still ends if he doesn't love her hard enough. As determined by an email, naturally.
>>150679063
>girl has the option for falling for Okabe

>>150680063
Agreed. He plays both the comedic and tragic sides of Okabe so well. I spent a good 10 minutes replaying the part where hesays El Psy Kongroo during the revival scene. Just the way he said it fucking destroyed my sides.
>>150680022
Would you a gelbanana?
>>150680148
Okabe's willing to take chances.
>>150680183
I really enjoy the subtitles of his performance. For instance, when hefinds himself next to Kurisu in the Alpha worldline again. I guarantee they spent an entire day of recording arguing about if you should be able to hear him swallowing or not. But a lot of the time, he just sounds so tired, so very tired. Like he's resigned to the pain of his failures becoming the background radiation of the rest of his relatively short life.
>>150680183

It was great.

>>150680805

Is there a vid of this? I think I know exactly what scene you're talking about and I've been too lazy to reread 0 just to get to that point since I'm not sure when he delivered that line.
Wait so they discontinued that manga and took down committee of antimatter and used the plot and the designs for Zero?
>>150682226
The ideas from 'that manga' are the basis for Zero, yes. Antimatter committee was canned because it was shit.
>>150682226
The manga was based from LN series, they're just adapting it with some tweak anyway.
>>150680992
I hate how Okabe was drawn like shit in that scene
>>150682968
Luka has a rough time. I hated him in S;G but I really felt for him just a few hours into Zero.
>>150683120
He really is a much better character
In the first game he was just nonsensical token trapHe's even prettier now
>>150666326
This is the sprite that I'm talking about.
>>150683260
Part of it is that he's more than just that guy that Okabe does chuuni training with now. Plus he's not having a completely baseless romantic interest getting in the way of the real one.
>>150683275
Those hairs are a miracle
>>150683260
>He's even prettier now
No doubt about that.
>>150683260
>>150683335
Also his chapter in S;G is a total waste of time and just retreading through Faris' chapter's dilemma (denying a friend's happiness and taking away the source of their joy) with a hamfisted way of forcing it into the plot ("fem Luka breaks the IBN5100, male Luka doesn't") and significantly less gravitas (Okabe basically has to fucking kill Faris' dad) so all his grievances are pretty dang weak.
>>150683361
Fucking hell, he's not even pretending anymore.
Explain the plot of SG0 so that I can screencap your post and use it to explain anything crucial that a confused soul like me ever asks.
>>150683719

Are Mayushi and [Kurisu] into cuckolding? They both keep trying to set up Okabe with other girls
>>150645349
So he's like his Ultra-form or something? Like his personality becomes so fucked and divided that Kyouma becomes a separate entity?
>>150683865
It is quite literally a jungian persona except the mask is more blatant than normal people usually have.
The persona is not a bad thing. It is armor against a cold and cruel world, it is morale, it is the sweet soothing lie called hope.
>>150683860
Is Kurisu a cuck if she has no memories of loving you? Doesn't it make you a cuck in a way?
>>150683860
No. Mayuri knows she's lost the Okabebowl and was never really in it. [Kurisu] is just thick.
>in no route does Okabe get his shit fully together and not be a complete bitch 99% of the time
>in no route does he tell Maho with a smug that he was in a relationship with Kurisu only to have her try and steal him away so she can beat her

>>150694176
Because it's Okabe's crippling love for Kurisu that drives him to go so far beyond the bounds of what should be possible. Okabe focuses on the personal stakes because he can't deal with the real weight of what's happening. He doesn't jump back to the Beta worldline to stop SERN taking over the world, he does it to save Mayuri. He doesn't reach Steins Gate to avert the third world war, he does it to save Kurisu. And for as much sacrifice went into saving Mayuri, several lifetimes of it went into Kurisu.
>>150694407
>Okabe killed Mayuri many time within lifetimes worth of time leaps
