Anime just kind of mystifies me for most of this decade in terms of the kind of shit that gets popular, though it's gotten clearer a lot of it has to do with hype and subtle stealth marketing. I mean you always have your otaku bait shit based off an already popular franchise distributed by Aniplex or Toho stuff that tends to sell above average but there have been way more examples of just random shit like Drifters selling well in 2016 than any other year I can remember this decade
