The same is true with most battle shonen. They attract female followers that identify with the girls.

The same is not true in reverse. Girls suck at writing guys.

Shokugeki no Souma's female cast falls behind half the male cast

It's probably easy to find more examples of that kind. But in general, a lot of female characters often feel behind the male cast in terms of characterisation in men's work. Not that we get a lot enjoyable and proactive female characters anyway.
