I only watched NHK once - when it aired. It already hit way too close to home back then and my life has only gotten worse, if I watch it again I'll probably kill myself.

I recommend the manga for anons who haven't read it yet. Changes the story up a little bit and is far more darker and depressing than the anime.

That's one of the reasons I think the manga has its own charms, every character goes a bit more off-the-deep-end than in other iterations.
