As someone who loves drama series and Trigger, Kiznaiver was just too poorly done for me to handle. Pic related, this chick's arc was great but the rest was actually honestly cringe. When a girl gets emotionally destroyed in a regular drama, due to unrequited love or family bullshit or whatever it may be, I can appreciate that and feel for her and understand it just fine. I don't need to watch half a dozen kids laying in the mud groaning "Ittai" for five minutes because their feelings and emotions are connected to get that it sucks. Nothing about watching that is particularly interesting or moving. The problem with Kiznaiver was that instead of making the dramatic events actually meaningful by way of character development and exposition and direction, they could just have the characters writhe in physical agony any time to tell the viewer that, hey, this girl is really sad and you should feel sad too. The fact that it's airing just three months after the first cour finishes also reinforces my claim because that short a break usually means split cour that was already planned. Given how long it takes to actually make a show, I doubt that the second cour could air on winter if it wasn't already planned and they were waiting to see audience reactions before greenlighting it

Compare Konosuba, which clearly didn't have a second season planned and is starting it's second season around a year after S1 started airing
