Then the British Empire succeeded in squashing the American Revolution (called Washington's Rebellion in Geass history), but this victory was apparently kind of costly because it resulted in the British losing the war with Napoleon. Trafalgar was a rout for the Empire and then Napoleon somehow managed to invade the British Isles. The British monarchy was overthrown. But the aristocracy in Great Britain fled to North America, where they turned Britain's North American colonies into a new Kingdom led by a guy who was the 'Duke of Britannia'.
