Here's what I don't understand: Flip Flappers is an original anime with no prior "adaptations" (i.e. no manga/LN/drama CD/etc.) to promote the show, and the show itself has little-to-no merchandise. Plus, from what I've read here and elsewhere, it's getting little-to-no advertising in Japan. Why is that so? Is it difficult to have made at least some merchandise for the show? Was it difficult to not have at least a manga adaptation/spin-off before the show started, in order to promote it? Given that it's assured of beind a rather big sales flop you would have expected at least some kind of merchandise stream to offset losses.

Yes, so far the story is nothing great, but the characters itself and their interaction made it so worthwhile. The sum of its part made for a great emotional fight scene, this scene wouldn't have been so great if we wouldn't have seen Yayakas development, even the small glimpses of her backstory were enough to create something emotional.

Not just of a single person, speaking of PI mechanics, this PI is based on Yayaka and her personal relationship with Cocona. The visual design is clearly what Yayaka is most used to in the KKK environment so there is that.

PIs so far can always be interpreted in the context of the plot. The defensive trap though specifically reacts to Cocona's feeling. My theory is that this defensive trap represents Yayaka's desire to retain Cocona at her side and prevent Cocona from getting to Papika. When Cocona cared more about Papika and ignored Yayaka the trap was broken. The glass chamber is also a PI construct of Yayaka's memory because I don't think Yayaka has ever had any environmental abilities. The way the memories getting destroyed may just be Yayaka getting too carried away and obsessed with the job (and she will regret it).

I think it's notable how subtly imaginative everything is. The way PI looks like Asclepius HQ to hint at it being Yayaka's. Why was Cocona so butt devastated because Papika called her Mimi once?
Over 6 Episodes she kept playing dumb when Papika kept yelling that she loves her in a more than friend way and even after they had their Yuri adventures in the Horror School she was still like "Do you mean as a Friend?" when Lewd Papi wanted to sex her.

Then one mention of Mimi and she goes into maximum over-jelly.
I mean, I know this is a hugely overused plot device in anime but I'm not feelin it here.

There's going to be an episode where Papika is inserted into the role of Dr. Salto, like they were inserted into the role of Iro in episode 6.

At the end of episode 7, it's Papika who screams "Mimi," apparently in the past, but she's wearing a white labcoat and has brown hair. But after that it's always the white lab coated male doctor in the same sequence. We never see them together.

Papika is seeing someone else's memories!

Cocona will find herself inserted into the role of Mimi!

It's going to be another episode like 6!

This also implies, since it's Salto's memories she's tapping into at the end of episode 8 when she says "Let's go to pure illusion again, Mimi" that Salt (or whoever that labcoated doctor is) and Mimi were the original flip flappers.

Because Cocona's feelings for Papika have been developing and getting stronger with each passing episode. At first, Cocona was visibly bewildered by Papika's behaviour and attitude toward her, since she was been taken out of her comfort zone of loneliness. However, as she's spent more time with Papika she's not only come to experience a myriad things that made her feel happy, but also made her realise Papika's feelings for her (at least her friendship) were real and that Papika was someone she could trust.

The turning point for Cocona's feelings, in my opinion, was when the Lewd Papika made her question what her "love" for Papika was.

Furthermore, she's been taking Papika's feelings for granted, in addition to being someone super special to her. So, once Papika started mentioning some other girl, and even worse, confusing her with Cocona (like thinking Cocona likes carrots), Cocona became uncomfortable since she's clearly been developing romantic feelings for Papika, and thus the feeling she might not be so unique and special in Papika's life made her feel uncomfortable and thus jealous.

It's not an odd behaviour for a teenager or anyone lacking experience in love.

Because Cocona suddenly realized that she doesn't know anything about Papika and doesn't understand her. There's definitely something serious going on with Papika and Cocona cant't do anything, she just silently watches from the sidelines. A wall grew between them(that house in PI) and Papika started drifting apart from her.
Cocona is afraid of changes but in the end she found the courage and directly asked Papika who's Mimi and what does this all mean. There's probably no returning back now after that but losing Papika is much more scary for Cocona, she will do anything to be with her even if it means to change herself.

Papika runs roughshod over Yayaka. She can never get the upper hand when Papika starts some shenanigans.

Papika thinks Yayaka is too glum, and sets out to try and help her learn to enjoy life. She's kind of mean about it, "You!! Smile. Now!" and plays tricks to try to make her to laugh.

Yayaka for her part is finds Papika extremely annoying at first and wants nothing to do with her, slinking off to the nurse's office (the one place she's reluctant to go because of the smell) like an insulted cat.

After a while, Yayaka learns to subtly control Papika's actions by subtly feeding her ideas, and then praising her for them as if she came up with them herself.

She's proud when Papika finally, after lots of subtle maneuvering during their adventures together, learns to think before she acts. Slowly, but surely, she finds herself falling for the feral galoot. She learns to smile at last.

Now she can get cucked by both Cocona and Papika!

Out of all the amazing examples of animation so far, the fact that I haven't noticed a single time where they've drawn Cocona's hair incorrectly is one of the most impressive parts to me. It would be so easy to simplify it except for in important shots, but they do it right every time.
