You know what's actually interesting considering their differences in capability? Guts fought 1v100 and Musashi fought 1v70 and both of them won but almost died. Makes you wonder if their human killing capabilities were at least similar.

Not that I don't think musashi could do it but Guts wouldn't make getting a lethal/disarming strike easy, and if mushashi couldn't do that in the first strike it's reasonable to assume guts would cut him in half.

Guts' opponents were heavily armoured, they used ranged weapons and Guts had to protect a Casca.
Meanwhile, Musashi managed to make people attack him one at a time for most of the fight.

Here is the thing about sword fighting.
The length of the blade actually matters. Guts' blade is longer. (it's also heavier, but for reasons of whatever he swings it like it isn't) Guts gets the first strike.
